Are there like awards, recognitions, records, or any statistical thinggy about One Piece because of its awesomeness.

I think I remember something a few weeks/months ago about volume 50 being the best-selling single volume of manga in Japan for 2008.
I'm curious what is needed for it to surpass Dragonball and Kochikame. The first isn't running since over a decade while the latter is still going on. Wonder how close they are to each other.
