Hi as i'm terrible at making AMV's can you guys gve me some tips to help me to get better?

for one, sync the music with the clips, like, when a drum beat happens, have a clip change or a black/white flash. here's an example of what i'm talking about.

for pretty much every sound in that video, something happens that accompanies it. although it doesn't have to be as extreme as that, some sync would be nice.

Also, you may want to adjust the video size so that the subs don't show. Unless you want them to show, that is.

How advanced things get depends on the program you're using.

If you plan on masking I can link you a tutorial or two and some great examples of masking in amvs.

but you can only do that if you've got vegas or premier, and those are pretty expensive, i made that video with only wmm, and i don't think that he should go to those programs just yet, beginners who start with vegas tend to go overboard with effects.
