Dude, that totally shouldn't be called that. The Davy Back Fight Arc is the name. We don't call Skypeia the Jaya Arc.

Quite obviously because Jaya is an arc that happens on a seperate island and is the prelude to Skypiea. The Davey Back Fight however takes place on LL but is not the only thing that happens there coughKuzan*cough.

And as far as the namings are concerned, the fandom has handled the Grand Line arcs in that way to base it on the places where they take place and not on the events that happen there.

The Davey Back Fight is just one big part of Longring Longland but not the entire part since Kuzan appears in the same arc but after the DBF. Besides DBF is an event and not a place and all those Grand Line arcs are named after the places where they take place.

The arcs are usually called after the location but that is the case with this arc because the focus of the arc wasn't on Longring Longland. The events that happened on LRLL could have happened anywhere unlike every other arc where the location greatly effects the events that transpire there.

At least that's how the fandom handles it.

Erm no, I've seen others who do that too. But anyways, how would you name the arc where Kuzan appears? The DBF is over by then and the Strawhats are still far away from Water 7.

That's just all a part of the Davy Back Fight arc. If anything I would call it the Aokiji Incident. A One Piece arc contains a exposition, rising action, climax, and a resolution (usually a party). Aokiji is just a part of the arcs resolution giving a feeling of closure to the arc as well as setting up the next one.
