YouTube, in its overzealous quest to curb copyright infringement, often does bizarre things like have certain parts of videos unlicensed in a particular country be slammed by a copyright claim. advent` for example has a GL video featuring a song performed by Masaaki Endoh that can't be seen in the US due to a copyright claim from STARZ of all companies.
Frankly, I can understand barring most videos from viewership when licensed, but when we have an unlicensed video and part 5/6 has a copyright claim, one must conclude that either the laws are more complicated than one would think, or YouTube has some serious bugs to work out with their auto-claim system.
Is there a way for me to use a proxy to still view videos online from YouTube? pHp proxies don't seem to do much for flash, though they permit downloading and uploading of other data just fine. I'm looking for IPs outside of the US, like Paraguay or Switzerland.
Thanks.
