now for discussion:
is this oda's foreshadowing that straw-hats will not regroup?
the crew has been separated throughout the world with most on the grand line, east and south blue and even a sky island. we've seen how long it has taken the crew to sail through half of the grand line, so is it even plausible that the crew can regroup in the whitebeard war arc?
i still think it would be better if they all met @ Shabondy, but I guess it might be plausible if Luffy enters the New World and the SH's appear at Shabondy one by one, learn from Duval that Luffy's in the New World, and catch up to him. They're just too scattered… I suppose it's already been about 6 days or so since they've been seperated, but still they're just too far apart.

In this arc? i doubt it, i see that being the next "adventure" depending on how this ID thing plays out. They will regroup eventually though.
good find but i gotta say maybe it's the opposite and saying that even though luffy's crew disbanded they are strong enough to come back together unlike rogers crew was able to do.
basically showing or maybe comparing how luffy's crew have a stronger will or strength then rogers. yeah i'm tired and just shooting in the dark
Considering that the Strawhats still have to complete their journey, they're probably going to get back together. They have the path, and currently all they need is a means to get back together, something they should all find. As for the whole Roger/Strawhat connection, while there are some real similarities between Luffy and Roger in the end they are two different crews and given the nature and theme of the manga it's unlikely that the Strawhats will break up.
There is no way luffy takes one step into new world with out his crew. So after whole whitebeard war is over seems like they will meet up in shabaondy
For Roger's crew, they disbanded under captain's orders. It's different for the Strawhats…it was forceful displacement. They'll be coming back together; they're still nakama.

They're stronger than they were before and know what to do. Besides they each have new allies who can help them.
Also, even if they miss the beginning of the Whitebeard war, I'm sure they'd each turn up partway through it

I'm fairly certain that in the end Luffy and his crew will surpass the Roger pirates. And in doing so, motivate the next generation of pirates to surpass them.

The crew never disbanded, they were separated. Only the cptain can disband the entire crew.
The crew haven't been sailing the GL for a long time. It may seem like that to the readers but hey this manga is 10 years and running. When it comes to them coming back together I see no need for it to be during this war. I prefer seeing how Luffy handles this whole thing with no nakama.
Is Luffy dead/going to die? No… Unlike Roger, he doesn't have a lethal disease and is not going to die...
The strahwats separation and the one of Roger's crew are not comparable in any point

it would be great to see rogers old crew reunite, after seeing how strong raleigh was, including shanks, it would be great…...
i bet the crew is full of all kinds of legends that are slowly being forgotten as time goes by.........but perhaps its time they made a comeback
if the old crew did reassemble then i don't think it will be in this war, maybe they reside on the last island or really have gone back to a quiet life, either way a reunion would be cool.
i would like to see the crew equivalent to Luffys crew, because so far we have...

The roger pirates disbandening was an entirly different situation. Roger was dying and chose to hand himself in to the marines. The crew was without a captain and decided to go their own ways.
The strawhats can pretty much assume the others are allright because they are allriht theirselves and they still have a captain and they all know they will meet again at shabaody when they follow rayleighs vivre card and that the others are going there…

BUT: wouldn't it be interesting if rayleigh got captured or deliberately got himself captured as to lure the other straw hats, not to Shabaody but to Impel Down . . .
I know it is farfetched but this way the SH's get back together in a reasonable timespan because I really don't think Oda's going to have a year without the other SH's. A problem with this is thpugh that they will all arive at a different time and that they probably won't be able to get into Impel down but perhaps they can fight in the war on presumably WB's side and hang around ID to save their captain when he does finally get out of ID and then make an escape to shabaody to find their ship ready to set sail to Fishman island

Can you imagine Zoro being healed and come back by his own means without loosing himself in 3 days ? i think wherever luffy ends up it's going to be with rayleigh and he will wait till all the strawhats come to him.
I think when Luffy returns to Sabaody, the crew (or at least some of them) will be waiting him.
I actually think the weaker ones have the most chance of escaping their Islands and reaching Sabaody. Franky and Nami are in civilized ares where they can get transportation. Chopper will probably convince the birds of Torino to carry him to the Grand Line. Usopp will probably find help to escape the Boing Archipelago, Brook can help those villagers and get their help in return.
Zoro, Sanji and Robin are under more severe situations, however. Zoro is probably enslaved by Perona; Sanji could have help from the Okamas, but I doubt he will stop running and try to make friends (lol); Robin is captured (unless those cuffs are not made of Seastone).

Well lets see we'll probably see Sanji fairly soon after ID if Luffy Sticks with Mr.2 after WB's defeat
Chopper can talk to and befriend a bird instead of a schichibukai.
Easy for Franky to get, or even make a boat, with his new possible tech buddies,
We don't know how far the bridge in TW currently goes so Robin could be close to the Red Line if she got to the end of it.
Nami could be closer than we think and ha the best chance of sailing on her own(especially if she can create her own tailwind) so her only real issue is getting down.
Really all the SH besides Zoro&Brooke have straight forward ways of getting back with Luffy. Brooke because impoverished people likely don't have good boats and we don't have any other information guess with…..and lack of imagination. In the end think it will be pretty straightforward too.
Zoro will likely be the last SH to be reunited with the crew and have the most drawnout story on getting back(Perona patched him up to be his servant). We don't know at all if Ussop is even trapped on his island or if Herackles could just get him a ride after going through some shit with him. If its not that easy his story could be longer too.

As others said already, the situations can't be compared. Roger decided to disband his crew because he was ill and wanted to hand himself over to the marines. This disbandment wasn't temporary.
Also, Roger was the pirate king. You won't surpass him just by recollecting your shattered crew. Heck, you won't even surpass him by becoming pirate king yourself!
But well, what Rayleigh said somewhere implied that even Roger had some things he couldn't accomplish. My guess is that Luffy will surpass Roger after he becomes pirate king (or something of similar status).

remember how Shanks asked Buggy to join his crew?
Maybe Shanks crew is made up with some ex-roger's crew that gathered under Shanks's name. That could have supported Shanks becoming one of four emperiors.
Of course, being the first mate, Rayight will never join Shanks (former cabinboy) but honoured his memory of Gold Rogers. But in Shanoby, Rayeight still knows Shanks very well and posibility goof relationship with the crew too becuase of their past connection

Well they have to reunite…I'm not sure how long it will be, though I really think that quote is completely unrelated to this. That was after Roger became pirate king. I mean, I think it has more to do with the ending of the series...though the ending for the Straw Hat Pirates definitely won't be the same as it was for the Jolly Roger Pirates.
I've thought this ever since reading Dragon's quote in volume 12 pretty much...well Dragon quotes Roger saying "as long as the world hungers for freedom..." well that doesn't really seem like the line of a pirate. Then we find out in Drum that Dragon is a revolutionary and it starts to make sense. Robin joining and the phoneglyph on Skypiea made it certain. The fact that Roger knew the true history and that it was hidden on Raftel, made it quite clear he intentionally started the New Pirate Era so others would find the True History and take down the World Government. Volume 52 was the proof this theory needed. It finally answers why Roger would intentionally send others to finish the task. Roger was sick and dying, hardly in good enough shape to take down the WG, so he turned himself in, knowing his successor would need that same inherited strenght of will (The will of D.?) to make it to Raftel and find the True History and this successor would be the one to accomplish what he couldn't. Further proof comes when Robin asks Rayleigh about the True History and he offers to tell them, but thinks they're not ready (implying it must be so infuriating it would drive them to act too soon). He also has a gleam in his eye when she asks if Roger intentionally started the new Pirate Era, and then Robin seems to understand.
So what I'm getting at is that Luffy can't die like Roger, and the Straw Hats can't remain scattered if they hope to reach Raftel. There must be a reason Shanks and Whitebeard haven't reached it after all these years...something special must be required to make it all the way to the end of the Grand Line....and I do think this all means there must be at least one big arc AFTER Luffy becomes Pirate King to take down the World Government....maybe that's how we'll see all the other parts of the One Piece world.
good points. i without a doubt believe the straw hats will reunite, they're nakama bonds are too strong to ever break. i mean look at the desperate way and expressions sanji and luffy when kuma began to teleport them. i also now believe that even though roger intentionally disbanded the crew there are parallels between the current straw hat separation
side note. i think what is stopping WB or shanks from becoming the pirate king is a combination of the world government and mainly the strength of the other yonkou which creates a stalemate in the new world
