Armor looks….OK...., but the fact that this may be an origin story what with the live action movie ALSO being an origin story seems kinda disappointing.
Yeah, I agree that its a bummer for a double feature of the origin story for Hal. I would have rather seen Rebirth for the first GL animated movie (Or Sinestro Corp War, my God that was awesome).
But I'm sure that both versions will be good without taking too much from one another. Iron Man and Invincible Iron Man came out within a year or so and were both origins without getting repetitive.

not sure. ive only heard of the Emerald Dawn comic book, which from what i read in it, is the origin of Green lantern.

Armor looks pretty decent actually. It's light armor compared to his PARALLAX EVIL LANTERN version, and to be honest, I really like the idea that rather than relying on a small force-field as armor, Hal would make his uniform more sturdy than tights.
As for this being an origin story along with the live-action one, I'm pretty sure that putting them out on the same date would mean that they're gonna go totally different directions on origin and characterization. If they're identical in that respect, then at least those of us into animation will have something to praise or rant about.

Hmm well I personally liked it for the most part. It does deviate from some of the known GL stuff, but I didn't mind the creativity they had with it.
For one thing,
! Sinestro kind of stolen the show, he had more dialog than Hal I think, and well he was overall badass IMO
I say rent or DL it and if you liked it buy it.

You've got to be kidding. I'm dead serious. That was single-handedly the WORST episode of Batman The Brave and the Bold and Sinestro's portrayal was terrible.
So far I've skimmed through the movie and I'm not liking what I'm seeing :sad:
Hal is portrayed like a total-undeserving doofus (read: Kyle) and the Guardians thought he stole his ring O . o
Comic Sinestro would have definitely been on Hal's side (not letting him get removed from the GLC) and the end looks rather lame.

I think the reason the Guardians thought Hal stole the Ring, is prob. because Earthlings aren't the most reliable species in their opinion.

No, and I'll tell you why. The reason for all of them being imprisoned was stupid (G'nort's works; I don't really like him though). Guy Gardener had a 180 shift in personality from the last time he was shown JUST so they could do a LAME version of the one punch scene (and it doesn't work with G'nort taking Ted's spot). It came out of nowhere and wasn't that good.
Their powers in that episode where completely unimaginable (the GL teaser previously was perfect, though). Sinestro sounded boring and his motivation was really lame. Hal's meek cameo at the end was rather stupid because they promised he be in the show but he apparently jobbed (along with the rest of the GLC) for no reason so that he could be in 2 minutes.
The funny part about this is that I think the two worst episodes where that one and the Outsiders episode. Turns out that one of the recent teasers had the outsiders fighting Despero. It was like they were making the two worst episodes fight each other haha.
BTW, did you see G'nort in Blackest Night? He looks so creepy lol.

[EDIT]Nevermind not him. I just read in an interview that Geoff Johns wants to avoid using G'nort at all in Green Lantern. He said that he won't be a BL and won't be showing up in the corps. I guess they are just ignoring him.

Yeah it is him, but most people I knew thought it was G'nort as well (except the ears were off).
I mean really, most of the BLs do look like their original form but some are way to zombified to tell:

I have mixed feelings about this movie. While I thought it was an alright movie, it doesn't strike as being a Green Lantern movie at all. Felt more like Star Wars. Also, felt like Sinestro was the main character. Here's some things I felt were missing:
1: Anything about Hal Jordan, why he should be a Green Lantern (nothing about overcoming great fear, Sinestro had more lines, etc)
2: Power batteries. They didn't have or use them
3: Oaths. They say it at the end of the movie, but it seemed more like a motto then. Their rings seemed to drain a few times but the broken core recharged them. They never charged themselves
4: Training on OA. How would Hal know how to use the ring already?
5: Establish Hal and Sinestro's relationship. They didn't have one in the movie. Boodika had one with him (wtf?)
6: Sequel-like ending. The others did it.
One of the main things I felt was wrong about the movie is (besides it not being based on anything but random things from GL) that it didn't give off the feeling, to me, that there is more to explore (or that I'd want to) from reading the comics. Quite honestly, the reason I started reading GL was because I really liked Hal's character in New Frontier. Prior to that, I hated the Green Lanterns (since they come off as pricks in everyone else's books). When watching this (and seeing half the corps massacred by one guy who just got his new power), it didn't really make the GLs out to be that great of characters (since Sinestro was the only one with a personality albeit one slightly different than his current comic counterpart).
If I were in charge of this movie, I would have to make it a little closer to secret origin (except I probably would take out the BN stuff). I would have it so that AT LEAST 30 minutes of the movie was pure Hal Jordan (instead of 3). I would have Hal sent to Oa for training and be partnered with Sinestro. Now here's where I take it in a different direction. I would make an original story here where the have a mission that leads into a bigger epic while underlying both Hal's and Sinestro's disregard for authority. I would leave only SMALL underlying hints about Sinestro's future and have the end (after their epic adventure) be Sinestro telling Hal that he would like to show him his homeworld someday. As the movie ends and Hal is going home, we see Korugar and can tell that it has a dictatorship going on and end the movie with Hal thinking about visiting there.
This would get us to have a sequel that is going somewhere, establish Hal and Sinestro's relationship, and have it so that Sinestro isn't just turning on the guardians out of nowhere.
Also, I wouldn't take any major liberties with the character designs ahem so that people can actually tell what characters they are looking at no matter if they watched the movie or read the comics. Also, this could work for a TV series have it be 13 episodes for the first season.
The music in this movie was really good.
Oh, and one more thing, for Sinestro's voice I would use the guy who did Andrew Ryan from Bioshock because he looks like and strongly reminds me of Sinestro.
Actually wasn't G'nort drawn, in some books, to look more human-like? He seemed that way in JL Antartica.

They could alter a few things and expand if they decide to make an animated TV series, but for the feature film itself, I think they tried not to throw in a lot of stuff to confuse some viewers who are not familiar with GL.
…and Hal could've just used his imagination while having the ring on the Earth before the others came to him.
Oh and Hal had a little less screentime than Sinestro I think.

I just watched this movie last night and my god this was the best DC animated movie I've seen so far even better than Gotham Knight! I don't read DC comics that much but I wanted to see this movie since it was the Batman TAS creator making it and since I'm into the Superhero movies but If you don't read the comics but have some knowledge from watching the Justice League series on CN then I'd defiantly recommend it! The fight scenes are just brilliant and cool! To the point that my dad even said it reminded him of DBZ. :wassat: Yeah that's right he said DBZ. IMO i don't really think it resemble DBZ's fighting scenes but this movie was just too awesome for words and it is true that there's gonna be a Live action Green Lantern movie?:cheerful:

The art was really nice on the one with Deadshot, but with it being the "main event" of the collection and it just ended with Deadshot whining and begging, it seemed a cheap cop out.
The Croc one was mediocre, the kids vision of Batman was horrible (and I think a rip off of an episode of Batman TAS). The one I liked was where he's basically trying to recover his injuries, it at least had story.
Gotham Knight was one of the biggest disappointments that I have had in purchases.
Did anyone see the Batman/Superman Public enemies trailer? They're reuniting Kevin Conroy and Tim Daly to voice Batman and Superman from their TAS! Oh and Did Abin Sur's family come out in the Blu-Ray verison?

I haven't really liked Kevin Conroy asBatman much since B:TAS. If he did that kind of voice, it would be good stuff but nowadays he just sounds indifferent/normal.
So…the next DC Movie is called "Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths". I'm thinking this might actually be a DCAU movie (JLA/JLU) since it is written by McDuffie and, well, the title. Therefore, if it is, I don't care about it.
