PROLOGUE - East Blue, The Past
It was rather stormy weather outside and it didn't look like it was going to get better at all. A young, orange-haired woman was clutching onto the railing of a pirate ship in the middle of a violent ocean. The woman was barking out orders at her crewmates in order to keep the ship afloat. The ship seemed like it would capsize from the storm any minute now. Suddenly, the orange-haired woman spotted a small island in the distance.
"Guys! I see an island over there! Let's head for it!" spoke the girl. The crewmates just shouted in agreement before changing course for the island. An ominous lightning bolt shot down into the ocean within just a few yards of the ship itself. The force from the lightning bolt seemed to aid in the steering of the ship toward the island. Everyone was working hard to get towards the island before them.
Suddenly, as the ship approached the island, one of the pirates wearing a straw hat, a red vest, and blue shorts just appeared to lose strength and slowly doze off to sleep. Another crewmate with green hair and three swords at his belt dashed over to check on him, "Hey, Luffy! Now's not the time to fall asleep!"
"I don't know why, Zoro, but I just feel like sleeping. Good night, Zoro..." the young man spoke as he continued on into a deep sleep. Suddenly, two more crewmates followed. A blonde-haired man in a rather expensive looking suit and a curly eyebrow as well as a younger man with a long nose both collapsed on the deck. Zoro and the orange-haired girl were both freaking out, "Sanji!! Usopp!! Wake up!"
It wasn't long before the orange-haired woman also dozed to sleep "Nami, not you... too...!" Zoro spoke as if the energy was being drained from his body and he fell on the deck as well.
Zoro opened his eyes to see the sun shining on him as he yawned. He looked around to make sure everyone was alright. They were all fine and on the ship. He sighed in relief before standing up and looking around. They were on the sea and headed towards the Red Line. Slowly, the others woke up and everyone was confused.
Nami looked ahead, "That's odd... we're on course to the Red Line. It's a miracle we're still alive after that storm, but I'm glad!" Shortly after, Luffy awoke and shot both of his arms into the air, "Yahoo! That was a great sleep!" before shouting at Sanji to make him something to eat. Sanji then woke up and, without a second thought, he ran over to Nami and started fawning over her as normal, "Nami-swaan! Are you doing okay?"
Finally, Usopp woke up and could see everyone else was back to normal, but couldn't help worry about what had happened before they fell asleep. It gave him the willies, but he snapped out of it and started laughing out loud to himself before starting to dance and sing along with Luffy for no reason.
As the ship sailed into the distance for the Red Line, we take a look several months into the future, deep into the Grand Line.
CHAPTER 1: The Beginning of The End (Grand Line, Present)
A different pirate ship from before was sailing along as Luffy and his crew enjoyed themselves with a few new faces. Sanji left the kitchen with a tray of food in hand and approached a raven-haired woman before lowering it, "For you, Robin-chwaan!" Robin smiled lightly and thanked Sanji before continuing to read the book in her hands.
Usopp was in the corner, working on something when a rather large, middle-aged man with light blue hair and a metallic nose walked up behind him and glanced over his shoulder, "Hey Usopp, whatcha got there?" Usopp responded, "Oh, Franky. Just in time! I'm trying to modify this Impact Dial that I got back on Sky Island so that it could work with that Star Shield of yours!" Franky's interest was definitely piqued as he sat down next to Usopp to discuss plans on such a thing.
Zoro was still badly injured from his fight against that Shichibukai, Bartholomew Kuma. As he was training, he seemed to reopen quite a few injuries and had to head into the clinic, wherein resided a small, childlike reindeer-human hybrid who helped guide Zoro in onto the bed in the room. The reindeer then began to grow until he was just about six and a half feet tall and reached for the bandages in the top cupboard before turning back to Zoro and lecturing him, "You know, you shouldn't be training so hard in your current condition. Your wounds will keep opening up at that rate!" As he had no witty comeback, he just laid back and took the lecturing from the doctor, not that he would really follow his instructions or anything.
A really tall skeleton dressed in a top hat and a suit walked inside the log room and saw Nami drawing sea charts before walking up to her, jovially lifting up his top hat in greeting, "Yohohoho... you look exceptionally beautiful this afternoon, Nami. May I see your panties today?" Nami, as if she was prepared, threw what appeared to be a brick right at the skeleton's head, "As if I would show them to you, Brook! Get out of here!" Brook appeared rather sad for a brief second, then returned to normal, "Very well then. I will see you later then."
Finally, Luffy was sitting on the lion's head at the bow of the ship and he could see a small island in the distance. He found the island interesting and, standing up and pointing, he shouted, "Oy, let's head for that island over there!" The entire crew shouted in agreement. Franky lept and took the controls while the others got in position.
It took a few minutes, but the ship finally arrived and, interestingly enough, the entire island appeared to be completely round and almost completely flat. It wasn't very large, either. Probably the size of a football field at best. The Straw Hats docked and looked around to explore the island when, without warning, a man appeared in the center of the island. He was rather short and dressed in rags. He then looked at the Straw Hats as they all approached him.
Luffy walked up to him, having a slight look of concern on his face as the young man before him looked as if he was about to die. He started running over as did the rest of the crew. Luffy held his hands out at the man in case he fell, "Hey, guy! Are you alright? You look like you're about to drop dead!"
The man looked up and smiled, half of his teeth missing from decay, "Sorry to disappoint you, but you are the ones who will drop dead this day, Kekekekeke..."
With those words, Luffy clenched his stomach, clearly in a lot of pain. Zoro saw this and was about to rush to Luffy's aid before he too could feel an immense pain. Shortly after, so did Nami, Usopp, and Sanji. All of the remaining Straw Hats began to panic. Brook was screaming in one corner, Franky was trying to communicate with Usopp on what was wrong, Robin just stared wide-eyed and silent in horror and Chopper was forcibly diagnosing Zoro to see what was going on. As quickly as it started, it was too late.
Just like that, Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp, and Sanji all collapsed, dead. The remaining Straw Hats could do nothing but stare in horror as to the impossibility at what had just happened to them. The young man before them just started cackling wickedly while shouting, "I killed Monkey D. Luffy! Maybe now the World Government will reward me with the riches I so rightly deserve!! KEKEKEKEKEKEKEKE!!!!"
Enraged beyone belief, Franky charged at the man and threw a hard punch at him, which knocked him into the ground. Still showing nothing but rage, Franky got to his knees and, bending over the man, he continued punching the old man over and over, pulverizing him into the ground. Even when blood started gushing out and covering his fists and his clothing, he still continued beating the old man over and over.
The other Straw Hats were just paralyzed in fear, either that their comrades, ones that they couldn't even concieve of being killed, had been killed, or that Franky was brutally slaying their killer. After a few minutes, Franky stood up, tears in his eyes and the front of his body soaked in blood, "Guys... I'm sorry..."
Nico Robin was the first to come out of the shock, still shaken up. He walked over to Franky and placed both hands on his arms, "I understand, Franky..." With that, Robin turned to face the other two, "Franky... Chopper... Brook..."
Chopper and Brook fell to their knees, crying so hard that they couldn't even speak. Robin was the only one who could remain strong at a time like this. She saw her family and friends killed one after the other in the past, so she could withstand this pain.
The remaining straw Hats buried Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp, and Sanji all together and remained to mourn the loss of their fallen comrades for two full weeks.
It was finally Robin who spoke up after two weeks of silence, "Franky, Chopper, Brook. I think it's time we move on." Slamming a fist into the ground, he looked at Robin, still teary eyed, "Nico Robin, I... I still can't accept that this man died. There's just no way..." Chopper started crying and looking at Usopp's grave, "I... I'm a failure as a doctor and a pirate... I couldn't protect my friends from a disease that, if I had just looked closer at it... I would have been able to cure!!"
Brook was about to try to laugh and try to brighten up everyone's moods, but he couldn't do it for he lacked the courage to do so. He stood up and tilted his head down, "So... this is the end of the Straw Hat Pirates, then...?"
They all remained silent as the wind blew Luffy's Straw Hat over the horizon.
(Chapter 2 coming soon!)
NOTE: To all who read this, please don't give me hate for who I killed off. There is a reasoning for killing off those five and don't worry, they will come back into the story sooner or later! Just don't give me hate for that! Also, I am aware that the story isn't of the best quality writing, but this is all off the top of my head, a first draft if you will. When I have time, I will do my best to rewrite the above.
Please leave questions, comments, concerns, etc here for now. I will write up Chapter Two at a later date.
