I have been trying to make people watch One Piece and they just make complaints about the following.
1. No major subbing companies ( Team Dattebayo) Want to sub it.
2. Horrible art.
3. Not just tempting.
Anyone can help me make a rebuttal.??:wassat:
Well, I'd personally try to get them into the manga first. I'd show them the Zoro vs Mr 1 fight and the first round of the Crocodile vs Luffy fight. That's how I got one of my guy friends into it.

Yeah, this is usually one of the sure-fire methods to get someone to watch OP. Compromise is always best.:happy: Though, at an anime club I was able to convince the president to show the OP Movie 8 (yeah, I know, not the best thing to show them…but this was before 1st Voyage)...and everyone loved it and started showing interest in the series.
Complaint number 1 is invalid because Kaizoku-Fansubs are still subbing, and they have from episode 1 to 254. If that isn't a major subbing group, I don't know what is. Second complaint is more valid, and is something that we fans have either accepted, embraced, or overlooked for multiple reasons. I like how it's unique (even if Fairy Tail is imitating it, it still doesn't hold a candle to One Piece), and to me, the art style perfectly suits its "universe."
However, while influencing is a good thing, you shouldn't try to force your friends to watch it. Everyone's got different tastes. Too much pushing in one direction might lead them to them being very turned off on One Piece or just refusing to watch/read it while getting a rise out of you.
i intreasted one of my freinds but he started to dislike it at the kuro arc seeing how the fights were a bit longer.
I self love one piece after i see the Arlong arc.
In the begin 1-15 episode it make me sick to watch it because the the style of anime self + that annoying Coby.
I think the best way to bring gamers watch One Piece is let them play some One Piece video games ??

As for your actual problem, I say don't let them start at the beginning. Offer a few of your favorite episodes/chapters from post Logue-town, because nothing in the East Blue really represents the show well, in my opinion.

I don't find her a bitch at all really. It's just a typical male reaction to females that don't act like a "wishy washy weak rape-worthy house maid make me a sandwich type girl". She just knows who her friends and family are in a compassionate way, in her own way. If you want bitch, see the nobles.
Anyhows, I just tell my friends that I find OP a grand adventure with fine storytelling and drama. If they style comes up as an issue, I just say I cannot really see the manga with any other style. In a way, the style identifies the series on its own, so it's not really "ugly". If they can't see that, I'll insist on showing examples.

i showed my friends a couple of the movies I own. Show them either Dead end Adventure (4) or Omatsuri and the Secret Island (6). They have the more developed stories of the original movies. Movie 6 has great animation, a good story, and a diverse range of activities the crew partake in… plus you don't need to know anything about the story (other than the Roger mentioning part and the fact that Devil Fruit users cannot swim).
Actually one of my buddies thought we were watching a Disney movie from Japan. I found the observation funny. I just said "It's kinda like Disney... only 10X as badass and no crummy singing"

I usually see what type of movie/story that my friend like. If I think they like a 'shonen' type stories, then I start offering One Piece. Usually, I'll retell the first story arc (Romance Dawn) and OP's world background, in my own way. I managed to influence some of my friends that way XD

I stumbled upon this music video a couple months ago, around the summer? while I was searching through the top 10% of amv.org. After watching it [for the umpteenth time] I finally decided to watch One Piece in December, and man was I hooked! Started December 1st and caught up by January 7th.
That music video is still one my favorites. 
Anyway, back to the actual thread 
What I do.. is usually beg. Haha. Or pester them until they get so annoyed they go "OKAY FINE I'LL WATCH IT IF YOU'LL JUST SHUT UP!" Yep, I'm good.
I do sometimes compromise, as well. As in "You watch One Piece and I'll watch Shakugan no Shana" and if they still dont' give in, then, well, I'll start spamming them links… upon links... upon links...

When we were younger me and my friend would watch the 4kids version on tv; so he knew the basic story of some of the arcs.
Later when we started watching subbed anime, I fell in love with One Piece and tried to persuade him to watch it too. He wouldn't listen, so I just showed him the fight between Luffy and Blueno. "OMG Dragonball Z" was his reaction and he started watching One Piece.
I don't get why I should try and convert people to watch One Piece…Isn't it their own loss?
I tried to do it once only to have someone to discuss with in real life.
My attempt was a success, what did I do?
I told him the series was bad, and he should just watch it to laugh a little.
The pshycology I expected was that he would have bad expectations for the series, but ended up loving it, as he expected much less
It worked, we now talk about the series all the time, his favorite character is Shanks.

That's where i messed up badly. I showed my brother the Luffy/Wiper fight during skypiea for some dumbass reason and now he won't give it a chance and thinks the show has shitty flash animation. The reason he says that is the stream episode i had was shit quality and i fucked up anyways when i showed him skypiea before any of the other arcs….but he wanted a fighting episode and that was the closets i could come up with in such short notice.
I might try to get him into it one more time via a movie or loguetown.
It actually took two people to influence me into watching it. Hunter, one of my best friends told me all about it while I worked for him. He got me interested. However it was my friend Robert who gave me the episodes to put on my computer, he got me hooked (God rest his soul).

1. Kaizoku-Fansubs have subbed the first ~250 episodes. Their subs are awesome. After that you've got ADC-Elites and Vegapunk up until about 350, who are also great. So your friends won't have to worry about low quality OP subs for a looooong time (after 350 is good too, but it's smaller groups that sometimes only sub 3-4 episodes before vanishing).
2. It gets SO MUCH better. Just show them Luffy vs. Blueno or something, maybe even Straw Hats vs. Odz…
3. How can the greatest adventure in your life not be tempting? One Piece has action, an actual plot (not just MY POWERLEVEL MY POWERLEVEL like some other series), drama, and is simply hilarious.

lol, that happens usually, but it would be even worse if he liked it.
He would be bored at the entire calm scenes and joke scenes, waiting for the big battles, which would happen rarely. (That's what I meant with 90% of the scenes)

Those are like the best parts of the series. Some people…..mindless action can only be entertaining for so long......i can tell though that my brother is slowly taking interest to it but trying not to let me know. We have 2 laptops and everytime I watch OP i can see him lurking from behind trying to see whats going on and usually the only negative response i got out of him was when Ussop was fighting that mole-woman from Alabasta. Saying it was annoying....blargh.
For some reasons he thinks anime characters should look like people out of tales of the Abyss, a anime i find so boring and cliched i almost question why he still talks shit about one piece when he hasn't seen one full unedited episode.

One of my friends got hooked when he watch the ennies lobby's arc. He's surprised when luffy used gear second and other strawhats using their abilities.
WELP! I showed my brother movie 6 today….he liked it....but whether he'll continue watching the non-movies is another question considering he doesn't think One Piece is asthetically pleasing enough for him and nearly got bitch when i said it rapes Darker than black in terms of entertainment.

i also let them watch one episode which is not completed yet so they will ask for the next episode. that's how i influence them to watch one piece. it works!

I personally never had much to do with anime/manga until a couple of guys in my study group for Japanese history convinced me to read One Piece. They got to talking about it during a study session and then one of them brought up the episode where Robin and Franky first arrived to Enies Lobby. The animation and music was all really dramatic and I was just like ::WoW::. Then immediately afterward they showed me some AMVs (which was also a pretty foreign concept to me at the time) and some of the manga and I was hooked. …I don't think we got any studying done the rest of the night.
So perhaps, introduce it to a person when they would rather be doing anything then what they are currently doing (such as studying) and just let One Piece work its magic the rest of the way.
