Will Vegapunk hit the 1 year mark?

The last release by Vegapunk was on March, 11 2008 they released a batch consisting of 334 trough 339. We waited so long now, that I hope they dont release something before March, 11 just for the amusement sake.

I am not a computer wizard, but is it possible, that VP gets money with every click on their site? Because thats what I did until September or so. SInce then I check twice a month. Maybe thats why they keep us waiting, because people check their site everyday.

I know they do this for free, but would it be faster, if they got donations from us? Oh crap I was just about to complain hehehhe but I am done with it I dont care anymore.

I just hope personally, that Vegapunk quits this project, so that another Subbing group emerges just like Vegapunk emerged when ADC-elites quit.

First of all, while it's true that the last hardsub release was in March, softsubs up through 355 were released in August. That's still too long, but it's not a year.

I believe there are currently 4 other fansub groups working on the new episodes of One Piece (although only one of them is caught up with the most current release), so at this point I don't think VP stopping or not is going to have a huge impact on that one way or another.

At any rate, VP has legitimate reasons for not accepting donations, and it wouldn't really speed up the subbing if they did, although I do like the idea of VP somehow getting paid every time someone views the site. Let me know if you can set that up. Seriously though, the delay is mostly due to many of the staff either being really busy or having important real life issues to deal with over the past year and the fact that VP feels that it has a good team and doesn't want to just replace everyone in order to get the releases out quicker but possibly with lower quality. At this point, work is still being done, and there is hope to get something released in the near future, but I can't give you a release date or even a guess of a release date, so I would advise any really impatient VP fans to check out the newer groups if you haven't already, at least until VP starts to get back on track again. The day may come when VP realizes it can't continue subbing any longer, but if that ever happens, I will make sure it is announced properly rather than the group just suddenly disappearing or fading away without a word.

I'm pretty sure he was making a joke. He was talking about VP receiving money just for people visiting the VP site, which I don't think is even possible and which isn't the same as receiving money for people clicking on advertisements on the site.

Easy, its not due yet. Next check is February, 6 th. Here is a list of my scheduled visits for updates.

February, 27 th
March, 11 th (celebrating the one year anniversary)
On March , 20 th Ill join the turkish army - no internet access there. It will take 15 months.
June, 1 st 2010 there should be atleast One one piece episode out.

Originally I wanted to start a poll with this thread, asking the fans if Vegapunk should quit or not. But nobody replied yet, exept Hedi and SD! I am amazed they find the time to visit other One Piece sites being the first posters in this thread. Shouldn´t you guys be busy with RL issues?

I really do want them to quit, that way other's will be more willing to subtitle the gap in episodes, since right now it seems some groups are holding back since they are under the impression that VP is actually going to release those inbetween episodes.

I think it's rather disrespectful to ask a fansub group to shut down, and I'm not just saying that because it's Vegapunk. Vegapunk while quit subbing if and when the staff decides they can no longer continue or don't want to continue, but that decision certainly won't be influenced by a handful of people asking us to quit.

SD, i think actually for the most people it doesn´t matter if u quit subbing or not. Else there would be more answers here in this thread.

U made some quiet good subs, and u always said, that u take ure own pace for releasing anything.
So why should u quit subbing. When u have fun with it, do it.
But atm i dont wait for someone who´s just saying: "hey, we´re doing something, so be patient" and made NOTHING since a 3/4 yearsince half a year (yeah, i know, softsubs…). Thats my main problem with u.

Luckily thats not really a problem, there are for all eps untill now hardsubversions in HD with a well sub - no one has to bear HK-like subs - and that even without VP quitting @LordMelkor. And i dont thing that there would be more with them quitting.

When ure going to start releasing something again, then i will download it. I still believe that u make good subs and its worthy to download it. But if there´s really anyone waiting for a new release: dont do it, go further on.

Hezu, VP never said "be patient". In every update we always say our status, when we expect to release our stuff, and we always say there are other alternatives if you think we're too slow. That's it.

We don't ask anyone to wait for us, which means if you have a problem with VP, then your problem is stupid. We're to slow? Move on. How is that a problem?

We even have a specific information post, to explain the delays, and it even has links to other OP teams. What more can we do?

As for the few guys who're suggesting we quit, we're not gonna respond to that cause the only appropriate response would be quite impolite, and only lead to flame. So mods, please lock this, cause there's nothing more to be said.

OK, I´m not a member of ure group, I can´t say why ure ppl dont have the time or whatever. But if i would be u, I would heat them up a little more. If u wait more and more, then it will be harder and harder to get them back to work and more and more eps would wait, the more eps to wait, the less will be the motivation, to handle all the upcoming eps.

I think they are well aware there is something called advertisment. They just don't want it on their page.

What in between episodes? around the time Vegapunk quit ASS/Desiboy and INP both where around already. And their work is well worth being watched.

No one is obliged to visit their side every other day to check if there's something new. You can check this here as well. And I really don't get how their updates can make anyone think he/she is forced to stick with Vegapunk. Are you a fan of Vegapunk or a fan of One Piece?

Well SD already stated in this thread that they don't want to get back on track. They want to continue having fun while staying the Vegapunk they always where. Seeing how many sub groups are out there for One Piece I don't think it would have been a problem to find appropriate replacement for the temporary vacant positions. But they just said: No! Thats the way of high quality fansubs. They increase quality ever further until they have to realize the effort needed can no be kept up over a long period of time. Then they refuse to lower the quality and slowly fade away. But who are we to judge 'em, drove 'em and damn 'em? Just let them be. It doesn't hurt anyone that they are still around, does it?

I sure as hell did not say that. VP certainly wants to get back to the point of releasing once a week, although not necessarily within a day or two of the air date. We're working behind the scenes right now to deal with some of the issues related to the delay, but I can't go into the details. At any rate, we're not willing to sacrifice quality to get back on track sooner, especially when there are other groups subbing those episodes. And like Hedi said, we've said on our forum numerous times that we encourage people who don't want to wait for us to watch the subs of other groups and even posted links to their sites. Just don't worry about us for now. We sincerely hope to get back on track in the next couple of months, but please enjoy the other groups as if we aren't coming back, and then if/when we release again, those of you who want to can go back and watch our episodes, and those of you who don't want to haven't lost anything.

That's all I have to say about it, and if things get any further out of hand I might have to bring out my magic sub-mod stick and make this thread disappear since I don't have the power to lock it.

while vegapunk has hit a bit of a rough patch … it's important to remember that the staff is active and seriously wants to continue ...

While only the most hardcore of the hardcore seem to believe thier still serious about releases (I still believe) ... It's natural for most people to bitch and whine ..

What a pointless thread. Is the purpose of this thread just to make fun of a group? Of all the One Piece fansubbing groups, I would have to say I respect K-F and VP the most. Their quality is at a whole different level than other groups, and their dedication to getting it done right, rather than getting it done first is very respectable. Truthfully, I don't have the motivation to sub an anime when I have seen it released by others, even if it is just a day or two earlier. The fact that these groups aren't phased by "some" fan's disrespectful commentary, and continue to release at all is amazing. I can't say I would do the same, if I had to listen to a constant stream of whiners. Go VP!

Why is it that you guys are so afraid of what people have to say? On your site as soon as someone mentions something about your releasing schedule they are subsequently banned and the thread is locked. Shouldn't people be allowed to say what they feel about the group without fear of being punished or ignored?
Don't get me wrong I have nothing against you guys, you guys do (or did, as the case may be) a pretty damn good job. What annoys me is that you let all the ass kissing comments through and filter out the (constructive) criticizing ones.
So as a request, mods please don't lock this, let people say what they have to say, if it leads to flaming, please delete the appropriate posts.
