Probably, but I think the official pronounciation is "Loo-fee."
-
It is most likely "Loo-fee."
-
It's pronounced LOO-FEE. Theres no other way of saying it. That's how Oda made it.
-
I've always pronounced Luffy right. Though, last year at Supanova, I was talking to a friend about the Alabasta arc and the Zoro vs. Mr. 1, fight. Anyways, I managed to blurt out Rowanowa Zoro, which sounded totally retarded out loud.
Though, no one really took any notice, I was so embarrassed, I felt like a total poser!

I pronounce it like Fluffy just because I think it sounds better, but im probably going to embarrass myself saying that one day.

The great thing about the manga is that you can make up your own pronounciations, but I still like the "Loo-fee" way better, simply because it fits Luffy's character…in a way.
-
Spelled in katakana as ルフィ. Literally 'roo-fee'. So that's how you read it :)
-
I don't want to call him Rufi with a hard English R sound, since Rufi is the nickname for the date-rape drug.
-
It doesn't rhyme with fluffy, it rhymes with poofy!
…I don't see how that's any better.

I used to, until I saw his name as ルフィ, and I found it was saying it wrong.
-
Well actually it is pronounced Roofy in the anime. It is written Luffy since the english r is comletely different then roman or slavian r pronounciations. For instance when an italian guy watches the anime he will immediately recognize the first letter for an r. Everyone spanish, portuguese, yugoslavian, russian, polnish etc. people will take it as an r. But for english ears this doesn´t sound as a common r. But actually it is spoken as an r.

yugoslavian
I'm not that kind of guy, but believe me, some people really get pissed because of this kind of bad information.
Yugoslavia as a country doesn't exist anymore. It fell apart 15 years ago, at the time of the fall of communism. Five new countries emerged from the ruins of Yugoslavia: Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia and Serbia and Monte Negro. It looks though that Serbia and Monte Negro will become two separate countries. I thought that it is just something you people should know. No hard feelings Ivotas. -

**Well being a YUGOSLAVIAN myself I´m perfectly aware of that. And believe me I get even more pissed of all those morons who act that way because all of them were born as yugoslavians and got even yugoslavian passports. No hard feelings but if you want discuss that furthermore then feel free to start a thread in the general section.

Yea. Don't leave your drink alone, you can't tell it's there because it has no smell or taste.
My good deed is done. Back on topic.

Haha.
Well, anyway, I pronounce it "luff-ee," if I ever say it aloud. Yeah, I've known the correct way to spell and say it since I first got into OP, but that's just how I say it.

that's just too funny in so many wrong levels.
i pronounce it in the retarded finnish way, which is the way it's written. i know my explanation doesn't make sense here because the pronounciation between different languages vary depending how the word is spelled, but it's like.. luff-ey.

I won't do that, because I think that this topic would be very painful for some, nor is this the right place for that. I am sorry Ivotas, if I have offended you in any way. Believe me, that was not my intention.
Nope you didn´t offend me. Just wanted to explain that I was perfectly aware of what I was typing. :D

For some reason, I've alway's pronounced it Luff-ee like, fluffy… I know the correct way, but having never seen the anime (apart from the acursed dub) I've always enjoyed pronouncing things my own way. If talking to a friend about things, I'll pronounce it Loo-fee but otherwise, I'm a generally fuzzy-wuzzy-cuddly fluffy type person.
Yeah.

I've always pronounced it the Fluffy way because at first I didn't know how it was really pronounced, and even though I know the real pronounciation, I like to do it the fluffy way because I feel like it.

**yes your good deed will be rewarded someday.
okay about the topic: I've always pronounced it as "Loofee" the first time I saw the spelling of the name, but had a confusion before if it was LOOFEE or ROOFEE.
"LOOFEE" sounded much better and unique for me though!

I always went with Loo-fee myself.
If a pronunciation's good enough for Optimus Prime, then it's good enough for me.
