Although combat wise Buggy hasn't grown very much… but I think essentially being able to fly with someone else on his back is a pretty incredible talent too lol, and he still can't be cut while doing that. Even if Buggy won't be very helpful for taking out opponents by himself, he is certainly a great tactical piece hehe.

Hmm…without having a clear scan yet (or just me looking at the first thing scanned), it looks like Luffy may have at least one known enemy on each floor, what with Buggy running amuck on the first (yeah, that was funny seeing him make a big deal of Luffy's armband) and Mr. 3 on the 2nd. (who looks much more mature with his slumped hair and goatee. And...somehow it's great seeing Spandine again but I didn't really expect it in the cover story.

Crocodile will probably be on at least the 4th floor…I can't quite say the 5th since on one hand he wasn't over 100 Million but at the same time Oda specifically said the WG would have doubled his bounty if they knew all he was pulling so his threat level was higher than what was known.

Meh, I was hoping that the armband wouldn't have any significance beyond a cosmetic upgrade for Luffy, because now whenever he adds a new accessory, people are going to claim that it's a plot trinket. At least this is better than those ''The armband is a Haki amplifier/It'll be able to deflect Kizaru's lasers/Hancock's beam'' hogwash that was flying around earlier.

All I have to say right now until a scan comes out or more discussion comes up is that Buggy was way outside that radius when he went chasing after Nami in East Blue. And Mr. 3 looks like Blueno now. Can't forget that.

So, everyone knows how I don't care much for Buggy, right? Just to reiterate, the reasons were his character design and his attitude. Part of that just means Oda is doing a good job in making a bad guy bad, but the other part was just personal preference. Ultimately I voiced the apparently forbidden question, "What makes Buggy so special?" and was crucified for it. That aside, I change my mind completely about Buggy's design this chapter. His jailbird outfit, the jolly roger tat on his face, the giant axe strapped to him, and the ability to essentially fly around as long as his little feet are running made him a total badass this chapter. The only things that taint that are his nose and fairly weak battle skills, but I suppose you can't have everything, right? By no means am I a Buggy fan now or a cheerleader for him, but he at least won a spot in my heart for a cool One Piece character. Once he is back in his original getup though…?

I've never been a huge Buggy fan either, but I always understand that his character's DF ability was pretty freaking awesome. I mean, if you had to pick between not being affected by blunt blows and immunity to any type of blade of slicing, I'd say one is pretty obvious. It's only the genius of Luffy (and Oda) that allows the Rubber abilities to extent as far as they do.

That said, I'm quite pleased with the team work between Luffy x Buggy. This is actually the one way I think Oda could have pleased everyone. Buggy remains as he was first introduced while still retaining a certain badassery to his character. I'm just happy that Oda has layed to rest this hidden talent that Buggy may have had just because he was a part of Roger's crew, and Luffy "seemingly" didn't defeat him on his own.

But, I have to give one more kudos to Oda though, because initially I didn't like Buggy, and I hated it even more when Oda even let Buggy get Luffy into a position of possible defeat by means of share luck is what I'd call it. Not to mention when all the Buggy love started to spread like wildfire, but with all that said, I must admit that after this last chapter, Buggy has definitely found a place in my heart :wub: However, make no mistake. I won't be dawning a Buggy avatar or suck madness ever!

I think it may be possible that by the end of this arc, if luffy and buggy escape together, that buggy joins the strawhats, at least temporarily as he was abandoned by his crew and Alvida.

Now that the chapter is out people are just including spoiler information in their discussion. Buggy mentioned it while he was talking to Luffy in the chapter. Here is the section where he mentions it:

Buggy: At level 5 there's probably only those with a bounty of more than 100.000.000! I'm sure they keep him down there! I heard from other prisoners that there is another floor even deeper! The most cruel monsters of the past are said to slumber there! It might be a myth but Ace could be down there! Whatever I'll not guide you beyond level 4. You've got to go the rest of the way alone!
