I don't usually make threads. Fact is, I don't think I have made any thread at all. Also, I'm not the kind to go "OH PLEASE HELP ME" but this is somewhat of a serious problem (with the Wii, anyway)

So, this has happened to me twice or three times. I'm either browsing the Wii Opera Browser or just playing online or playing a good ol' gamecube game on the Wii, or a Wii game w/e. I'm just minding my own business, while all of a sudden, the Wii sounds like it's gonna explode or some shit.

It does this cracking noise, weird lil' noise. I don't think it's anything, because nothing happens. Well nothing besides the Wii turning off completely, without standby light or anything at random times. To fix it, I disconnect one of the cables (adapter, I think) and plug it in again.

Is this problem caused by the Wii overheating? What do you think? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

it might be a power surge
if u use extension and a multiple power line the outlet might get over heated and as a precaution some switch off to cool themselves down
make sure that you are under whatever the amount of watts are for that outlet
u might need to do some research

        from yahoo answers

        email nintendo?

        edit:

You need to eliminate whether it is external to the Wii or internal since there are so many factors otherwise.

If it is plugged into the wall, put in a power bar with some other simple things like a lamp or light. Next time if your Wii goes off and the light does not, you know that it is the Wii.

If it is not the Wii, then you have to eliminate whether it is the power bar, or that circuit. If you are on a power bar, move the position of the Wii plug on it or try a different one. You could try plugging in a lamp on it to see if it goes off with the Wii. That will tell you if it is the bar. Use a cord to plug the Wii into a different circuit (different breaker as Krimhorn said). This will tell you if it is that outlet.

It would probably narrow things down if you mentioned your specific setup.

Hmm, it probably is that "shut off, cool down" thing.

          Thanks, though.

            well i work at gamestop

            and… I...

            have no answers for you.

But we can buy it back from you for a significantly less price than what you paid for it.

            hope that helps...

...probably doesn't, so I'd just listen to what King Ty said if I were you.

Thanks, anyway. TBH I saw that already, didn't help much. I'm probably screwed, I've had this shitty Wii since the same week it was released. Oh well.. For now I'll just wait for it to cool down.

I think I had the same problem with my Wii last year. We sent it back and became a new good-working one. I hate that option though >.> Hope yours is getting better.

Haha, epic fail indeed. Well, I've done what I've been told to do, so I still haven't turned my Wii on. I'll just wait, maybe it'll get better. BTW Ruffy, did they send you a new one or the same one fixed?

My wii had the same problem, except instead of turning off it would stop in mid-game and glitch a lot.

Usually after I let it cool off for like 3 hours it wouldnt do it.

…Or use a baseball bat and get someone to film it and put it on youtube. 😁

Yeah but dude, I turned it off, unplugged it for 1 day, turned it on, it made weird cracking noises which it does right before it turns off completely. Worst Christmas ever, I wont be able to enjoy 2 games Im getting.

                        BUMP.

Well, I tried sending it in at Gamespot, I'm lucky they don't repair them because I don't want them to erase all my data and Wii Shop Channel shit, VC and etc.

well, sorry. i totally forgot about that thread.

we brought our Wii back to GameStop, where we had bought it before. they just gave us a new one and sent the "broken" one back. i think the thing is, that the Wii was 2-3 weeks old or something.
so you might have the problem, that it's gonna take longer.

but hell, check if your goddamn wii is empty if you send it in!

                            Kinda late, heh.

Well, I don't use it much now (360 guy here, lol) but I tried setting up a fan next to it and it works perfectly. So, yeah this thread's pretty much dead now.
