Need help identifying this anime series

Back when I was a kid there was this anime I watched. The main cast involved a family that live in a blimp or an aircraft of sorts. The kids (well one of them is a kid the other 2 are teenagers) would use their plans to fight the main villains armies and robots/monsters.
Now the main villain….well he looks like Doc from Back to the Future, but wears a military suit and helmet and his skin colour was brown-ish. He had 2 henchmen that look like Robotnik's 2 robot lackies from Sonic X.

Does anyone know the name of this anime?

I haven't acctually seen (read followed) the anime itself just watched some fragments and a bunch of trailers for it.

Clause and Lavie sounds like the teenagers and there is a big blimp(airship and a lot of planes. dunno about the family or the villains though.

Perhaps you should give us a timeframe to keep in mind, in order to limit the search. Around when were you watching this as a kid?

Nope not Last Exile. I watched this anime during the 1990s so it should be from that period.
Oh and I forgot to mention; the planes are coloured as followed if memory serves me right-
Eldest son flies a big fat looking blue aircraft.
The youngest flies a red jet-looking aircraft
The daughter flies a yellow aircraft.
