Who would be the coolest dad?

We've seen all kinds of characters in One Piece, but which one would you want to call "Father"? Which one do you think would be the coolest dad ever?

To start thing off, I think that Franky would make the coolest dad.
1. He can satisfy any desire for a tree house.
2. He would probably be willing to share certain "adult" magazines with any sons he would have.
3. It quickly becomes obvious that he'd be able to beat up anyone else's dad once someone hurts their hand punching him.
4. No one would be able to do the "pull my finger" joke better than him.
5. He does more than enough crazy things that could easily keep a child entertained.

So, do any of the rest of you have any ideas of your own on which One Piece character would make the coolest dad?

Shanks comes up at first thought, but then I remembered that pirates pretty much universally suck ass at being parents.

Shanks is pretty much the most awesome guy ever, but you'd probably only see him maybe two or three times in your entire life before running off to do some pirating on your own.

…so I'd have to go with Smoker. Marines seem to be more on top of that shit than pirates, and Smoker's like the most badassed Marine this side of Garp.

Another possible candidate is Usopp. He could probably make all kinds of different toys. He'd be good at telling the bedtime stories. He'd always be willing to join the kids in whatever they were playing.

Then there is Brook, who was a member of the Rumbar Pirates who could make a crying child smile.

And here's an example of what I think it would be like to have Franky as a father…
The scene starts by showing Franky sitting in a large, comfy-looking chair, reading a newspaper and smoking a pipe. It would also be entirely in black and white. We then see a young boy go up to him.
Boy: Dad… camera slowly centers and zooms in on the boy I had decided that I want a tree house. Is there any chance that you would… short pause Dad?
The camera quickly moves back to the chair, with a newspaper and pipe laying on it neatly and nothing else.
Franky: (from offscreen) So what color do you want it to be?
The boy runs out to the backyard, and sees before him a gigantic tree with the most awe-inspiring, unpainted tree house ever (it would be to tree houses what the Thousand Sunny is to ships) in its branches. The ground is littered with building materials and tools. Boy: Where'd the tree come from?
Scene changes to Luffy, staring at a rather large hole in the ground. His gaze move to a trail of dirt, leaves, sticks, and branches that goes from the hole in the ground, to a hole in the fence.
Luffy: Hmmm… UNDERGROUND ADVENTURE!!! jumps in and starts digging
The scene changes back to Franky and his son. They have gone into the tree house and Franky is apparently explaining the different features. Franky: And over here are some drinking fountains. This one on the left has water, the other has cola. Over here is a secret compartment for hiding the magazines that you don't want Mom to see.
Boy: But I don't have any magazines that I don't want Mom to see.
Franky: Not to worry, I made sure to leave a few in there for you.

And that is what I imagine it would be like to have Franky for a dad.

Any of those guys would be pretty awesome, really, besides the whole "pirates roam too much" thing already mentioned. They seemed like a lovable bunch, and they were pretty good adoptive parents when it came to Laboon. (Sure things kinda went south after they went into the Grand Line, but they did their best. Would've been worse if they'd taken him too. Yet another reason why pirates should probably not be parents. :sad: )

That was the first place I thought of him getting the tree from, but her trees didn't seem big enough, so I thought of him getting a sakura tree from Chopper…

Chopper pushes a wheelchair containing a patient around. Chopper: Now let's just get you some fresh air. Maybe seeing the sakura will calm you down. Did I ever tell you about that one guy who had been cured of a heart condition just… by... notices a hole where his sakura tree had been ROOOOOOOOOOBIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNN!!!! Chopper then runs off to Robin like a small child would run to their mother when something bad happens.
Patient: Doctor? You forget to set the brakes…
The wheelchair slowly rolls towards the hole…

But then I looked up sakura trees on wikipedia, but they didn't seem big enough either. So I thought about who would probably buy a house just because it had a huge tree to climb, and then I thought of Luffy.

I imagine Sanji being a father would be very very similar to Spirit from Soul Eater. While a huge womanizer still, he would still be relatively affectionate with his child/children.

In any case, I think the coolest father could possibly be Aokiji. I say this because, since Aokiji would be more focused with work, his child would probably be left in Garp's hands (as Garp is sorta-kinda Aokiji's right-hand man in a way), and you know that Garp wouldn't hold back at all, especially on one of Aokiji's kids.

Luffy- Not good parenting material,.

Zoro- So long as you enjoy being raised to be a swordsman (or a heavy drinker), he'd be perfect.

Sanji- If you're a boy, life with Sanji is likely to be pure hell. If you don't clean your plate, you get kicked into a corner of the galley. If you cook something that tastes shitty, you get kicked into a corner of the galley. If you say something rude to a lady, you get kicked into a corner of the galley. If you get cigarette ashes in the food…you get the idea. If you're a girl, then Sanji is the greatest dad in the whole world until you're sixteen. Then, he's the most embarrassing dad in the whole world.

Usopp- While he's the undeniable "Bed-Time Story Champion of the World", I wonder sometimes if Usopp will be brave enough to tackle the adventure not even Yassop would: raising kids.

Franky- I agree with everything that has already been said about Franky in this thread.

Brooke- I'm not really sure how this would work. Starting his own family is pretty much out of the question, necrophiliacs notwithstanding. The kids at the orphanage are going to freak out when he comes around, and his asking the female staff to show him their panties is liable to get him thrown out the door. About the only way I can think of Brook even having the opportunity to be a dad is for some down-on-their-luck kid to adopt him. He seems like the compassionate type, for a pirate, so as long as the tyke's sense of right and wrong aren't totally at odds with Brook's, he might turn out to be a pretty cool old man to have as your "old man".

brain point - adorable animal to play with the kids
walking point -to pull heavy loads and/or children
heavy point -to be the strong manly type of father
Jumping point - who needs a trampoline then?
Guard point - a cuddly ball to play with
horn point - as shown in alabaster: to make an awsome slingshot
arm point - uuhhh to beat other dads at arm wrestling?
and monster point - when the kids do something really really bad lol

he's the really the multipurpose father. Plus the doctor thing which I guess is a plus

I want Shanks to be my dad. With Uncle Ben to provide conventional wisdom.

But if not Shanks, then Franky. Oda did name him to be the father in the crew.

I'd much rather Shanks be my dad when I got in trouble compared to Franky though. Franky's scary when he's angry. You have to do a lot worse to get Shanks up to scary.
