Just reviewed the chapter when the SH crew gets an udate on bounties and it was something which bothered me:

The Wanted posters titles…

Every person in OP has one so no diffrent for SH and when the name Ronroa Zoro was mentioned pirate hunter Zoro...:wassat:

So questions and topics of debate should be:

1. How does WG decide on titles, based on what(your opinion)?
2. Are there any titles which bother you, or basically you would give diffrent names and what would they be ?

Also the titles for those who dont know are the following:

Luffy = Straw Hat Luffy
Zoro = Pirate Hunter Zoro
Robin = Devils child Nico Robin
Sanji = Black Leg Sanji
Franky = Cyborg Franky
Brook = Humming Brook
Usopp = King of Snipers Sogeking
Nami = Cat Burglar Nami
Chopper = Cotton Candy Lover pet Chopper

Me personally I hate the pirate hunter Zoro title, it belittles Zoro in my eyes…Its what he was known in East Blue but certanly not something he should be known by now...imo

And as for the total list:

Luffy = ok
Zoro = totally not ok for me (i would reather name him santoryu swordsman or devil swordsman )
Robin = ok
Sanji = great
Franky = great
Brook = so so (skeleton swordsman?)
Usopp = lol ok i guess
Nami = ok
Chopper = wont even comment on why they need to bounty a pet (but lets say the pun was all that it was, though if it goes like with Zoro he is stuck with the name pet forever...)

My questions about this is where is the actual title on the Wanted Poster? All I see is "FRANKY" or "NICO * ROBIN", and it's "Cat Burgalur Nami",sorry to correct you.

And don't you get it, I think it's a pun, "HUMMING Brook" like a brook , maybe?

Brook wasn't a skeleton when he got his bounty.

Usopp doesn't have a bounty.

Zoro shouldn't have the word demon his title, as it would overlap with Robin's title and would be generic.

The titles are fine for me. I'm sure Chopper's title will change once he gets his real bounty.

I don't get it really. At the time Zoro was arrested he was the best swordsman in East Blue all while being a pirate/bounty hunter. We should keep in mind he had a reputation way before Luffy and was known as that badass pirate hunter. Exactly what would you want him to be called? "Tri-Blade" Zoro? cuz some lame 3 sword pun is what he would most likely get or even worse something like "Green Bandanna" Zoro…..smh......

One nick name I really like is "Man-Demon" Gin. Real badass imo, well clearly.

The rest are usually just made up off from something notable on the criminal or something they are known to do.

EDIT - Sogeking's "title" is generic since his name and title mean the same thing. King of Snipers Sniper King….....wtf?

If Usopp ever gets one it should be "Great Liar" or "The Negative One" and it should be based off some event where Usopp is really being a coward, scared, negative about his own abilities, and trying to lie his way out of it but all of the marines watching the fight take it for something else like a real gruesome pirate and he gets that title something similar to what happened with the giants in EL and ppl commenting how he made them switch sides "a man who can sway the loyalties of giants.... The Negative One" I'd have a great life of of that. The thought of Usopp having 2 bounties is funny enough, although we don't know if the marines know if he and Sogeking are one in the same.

I kinda agree about Zoro's. But the title reflects what they became famous for. Zoro first became famous as a pirate hunter and then joined the crew. So, to the government he is seen as "the pirate hunter who joined the SH's". Most of the other crew members just got their bounties so it would make sense that their titles would be accurate.

There are at least two…

1. He is no longer a pirate hunter so why being known as one...
2. He said it himself him being a pirate hunter was a need, a $ need I may add, its not exactly someting he is proud of...

But sure diffrent people diffrent opinions, here is mine and I respect yours...

I've no problems either, and I think we'll see that they added Chopper's new bounty and/or picture since both Kizaru and Sentoumaru saw his Monster point and Brook will be added as well. So those are the only two that might get a name change. Brook because, well for what the WG knows he's been dead for what, 50 years? I highly doubt they'd make a connection just because of the afro…but I suppose it's not too impossible if they knew of his DF beforehand. Chopper...I don't know what they'd change it to.

Oh, and on Zoro, as I'm sure has been said, the WG gives them the names that they would most be known for. So since Zoro was already known as such, it would be better to keep that title so bounty hunters would know who he is exactly.

The first part is correct but the second part is pretty unfounded. I didn't get any indication that Zoro made it seem like he did it just for the money and he didn't hold pride in what he did. I think he was just saying I really hold no grudge against pirates, I was just doing it for the money.

Furthermore, if you are right (or me doesn't matter) then his stance as a pirate now would be similar. He'd say something like he was just being a pirate because of his dream, nothing more. Zoro would be a marine or mountain bandit or a freakin delivery boy if it meant the path would lead him to become the world's greatest swordsman, something he would have pride in.

Zoro seems more like the type that doesn't care about the title so he'd have no pride in any

profession as long as it justifies some mean.
I highly doubt they'd make a connection just because of the afro…but I suppose it's not too impossible if they knew of his DF beforehand.

This actually interests me if Oda will take the joke route and have them remember him for the afro or something else or if he'll get a new nickname and bounty. He could just solve this by having Brook directly or indirectly say who he is to a bunch of marines.

Chopper…I don't know what they'd change it to.

The difference here is that Zoro's not being labeled off of one thing he did but a profession he was good at and it was a way to identify him. It's not like he beat some guy and then was known as the guy who beat that strong guy. I happen to think pirate hunter is a little more menacing/scary to other pirates for someone who is a pirate and I think that's better than your suggestion and is much shorter (no offense) but maybe it's cuz I'm use to Pirate Hunter.

And yea it is different views but I just don't see the point in changing it or the problem of him still being called that. I don't see how the man is belittled by his nickname, since the man makes the name. When its all said and done and Zoro gets his title. Something like "Oi! it's the man known as the best swordsman in the world, the man who defeated Mihawk! The Pirate Hunter Roronoa Zoro!!!" sounds scary and badass since most other pirates would think he's coming to kill them and that's just off of the nickname, I dunno. I think there could be way more worse than what his is

I find Zoro's title to be the coolest because it sort of shows his fame that was spreading before even becoming a pirate. Heck it seems a lot of places they go even know people almost had heard of him before getting a bounty even.

He was kind of a mystery before joining Luffy's crew. Just showed up out of nowhere and started handing in bounties. Didn't try to get fame, and heck he was a mystery before he had a face (bounty pic) attached to his name.

All people knew was a really strong bounty hunter that carried 3 swords and one was a white laquered one.

Well, to you, you would want to be famous, thus you would want others to know yourself as 'The Savior of the World', but to Zoro, fame isn't really that important.

To him, what counts most is his skills and powers. So what if he's called 'Pirate Hunter Zoro'? What he cares more about in his bounty poster is his bounty value as MOST outlaws' abilities are reflected on the money awarded for capturing them.

This seems kind of selfish IMO, as if you wanted to be known for saving the world. I don't think Zoro cares what others think of him, as long as he accomplishes his goal.

Technically can't he still be seen as a pirate hunter even if he is still a pirate? Ok he isn't activly hunting them but I see his name as a sort "bane of pirates". A name to deter other pirates.

Come on, "Straw Hat Luffy" is great. I love that. And Humming Brook is cool too, don't forget that name comes from a time when Brook had a skin, so it can't be "Skeleton Swordsman" now.

I always thought "Pirate Hunter" Zoro isn't up to date, but it sounds cool. And if everybody recognizes him as "Santouryuu Swordsman", that would kill any "wow! 3 swords!"-effect.

I think the government bases the names on what they know about their enemies (like in Straw Hat or Cyborg) + what sounds dangerous to normal citizen. (like in Black Leg or Devil's Child)

Personally, I don't really think bounty titles change. Heck, Kuma is still called a tyrant dispite not being one himself(he's a dog).

You can't say that when you don't know the nature of pre-shichi Kuma. I'm pretty sure the name fits for a reason. Lets hope he shows why to the WB pirates or somebody

Yup. Brook hums a tune when fighting, thus his name.

And Kuma is Shicibukai, that means his bounty and title is suspensed, isn't it? But I still agree on your point that the titles don't change.

Yeah, I know. I'm just saying things as I see it now. Most of the Warlords are pretty much a mystery when it comes down to telling what they have done to earn their title in piracy.

Btw why did Nami get the nickname Cat burglar? how did the WG know? =S I don't recall her stealing anything after Arlong park… Didn't she get called weather witch or something somewhere else in the manga?

As has been previously mentioned, whether he likes it or not, Pirate Hunter was the first title he was known by and it is a name that people will recognize. Sure we, as fans, want something cooler, but you have to remember the original point of the poster. It's not to make zoro look good, or cool, or to boost his already substantial ego. The point of the poster is to make peopel a) be weary of him and b) hunt him down and capture or kill him. Its not a slap on the back, a howdy dudey, or an invitation to some ball. Its a BOUNTY poster, a call for his blood, a personal invitation to ones own execution. Who the hell cares if his name sounds pretty, the marines don't care as long as they get their target. Cool sounding titles and ego building status are great, but this isn't a costume party, it's a blood bath.

Now I did what I should have done in the first place… look it up in an online dictionary:@wiktionary:

Noun tyrant (plural tyrants)
1.An absolute ruler who governs without restriction.
2.A harsh and cruel ruler.
3.An oppressive, cruel and harsh person.

So I guess Kuma can be given the title given the third definition.

After also looking it up on wikipedia I note the meaning you gave seems to restricted to the latin word. However the greek word means "sovereign, master" which was used to describe both good and bad rulers.

Fear? I never even used the word fear or any of its derivatives in my statement. You, my friend, need glasses or a basic high school education, which ever would help more. I simply made the point that the purpose of a bounty poster is to catch the criminal, not to give them warm fuzzies about their name. This means that their title or nickname will generally describe them physically (strawhat luffy), their abilities (black leg sanji), or simply be an already recognizable title (Pirate Hunter Zoro). If it happens to sound fearful, great, if not, great, as long as the job gets done they, ie the marines, don't care. Do try to read and properly deduce the meaning of a person's post before replying to it and, god forbid, quoting it.

More important than titles, is how do they get the pictures? I mean, it's one thing to fool nami into thinking you are a fashion photographer, but another thing to venture into Florian Triangle and get a pic of Brook.

Brook's picture was taken while he was on his ship I think , and before he was killed , probably not at Florian Triangle…

Yeah, I got this impression too. The only time we've heard "Humming Brook" is when he told the crew he had a bounty from the old days. Whether or not the WG figure out that this is the same guy, "Dead Bones" is now a much more effective identifier (isn't that what they're for? If everyone's looking for "Straw Hat Luffy" they know to look for a guy in a straw hat, etc). Plus Brook has used that one a LOT himself - the WG won't care what he prefers, but it might stick.

Also I'm biased because both are cool, but "Dead Bones" is cooler. :wub:

Well, she's rather obsessive about money, and her most recent act of robbery was when the crew jacked Thriller Bark's vault…

...it's also possible that they knew about Nami before, but she hadn't been important enough to warrant a bounty until recently.

Also: the phrase used, "dorobou neko," is literally "cat burglar" but also has the colloquial meaning of a homewrecker/manstealer/slut. While she doesn't actually do that kind of thing in any way, it's not like she's all that modest… it's not too hard for a stranger to look at her in one of her bikini top costumes and go "ololol slut."

Brook's old bounty title probably won't be changed , I think he will gain a bounty and then it would be "Dead Bones" Brook . The WG doesn't know that that skeleton with the Strawhats is in fact Humming Brook .

Robin's title should be changed. Devil's child Nico Robin doesn't cut it for me
