First off some quick details-
Release is slated to be in 2010
Don Cheadle will replace Terrance Howard as Jim Rhodes (and we may get to see War Machine)

Now for the interesting part-

From what I'm told, Tim Robbins is going to be playing Howard Stark in an important flashback sequence that is going to set up the Avengers and Captain America films. Jon [Favreau] wanted to get a good actor because he didn't think the guy who played Howard in the last film could carry such an important scene.

Makes sense to me because Howard Stark would be around the time of the Captain America Super Soldier experiment.

That is not all, check this out…

I'm also told that HAWKEYE and BLACK WIDOW are definitely in Iron Man 2 and they wont be cameos either.

You guys want to take this as a rumor due to the timing then it's all good with me till further notice.

If they are in the movie, there's been no official confirmation that they have been cast. I wonder if they'll go with big name stars or unknowns? Hopefully they will make the right choice.

I'm just saying that I hope they choose someone that is well suited for the role, and also cares about the role.

When Robert Downey Jr. was cast for the 1st Iron Man, everyone was surprised because he wasn't the first actor that came to mind. Most rumors were speculating that Tom Cruise would play Tony Stark (Thank God that didn't happen!). In the end, RDJ did a phenomenal job, and his performance is part of what made the movie great.

I hope that is the kind of casting Marvel does when they cast Hawkeye, Black Widow, Thor, Captain America, and other avengers.

Are you kidding me? Terrance Howard was the one blot on an otherwise perfect movie. Canning his overpayed ass AND bringing in the hawkeye/black widow/stark love triangle. can only make Iron man 2 more awesome.

Other than being an at best average actor in a movie filled to the brink with legends and lacking any kind of chemistry with the lead he did nothing wrong.

But for that man to get payed more then RDJ for that lackluster performance its just laughable, And even if i cant say he made me vomit with rage he just didnt bring anything worthwhile and when you cost that much AND the director chooses to downplay a character i like because of his problems with the actor well then he has to go.

I'm not saying that he was the better actor then the new guy because quite frankly I have no idea who they are. I pay so little attention to actors I barely know who RDJ is, heck I can't even name one other movie he's been in.

All I know is when I looked at howard I saw rhodes and the new guy doesn't give me that feel. Yet. Plus they way they did it was wrong.

Hawkeye is a popular Avengers character. He is a skilled fighter and very proficient with a bow and arrow. Think of him sort of like Marvel's Green Arrow if you ever watched Justice League Unlimited. His real name is Clint Barton.

Black Widow is the codename given to 2 female russian agents, though the most popular one is Natalia Romanov (sp?). She is very good with firearms and weapons and has good stealth skills. Natalia (or Natasha) is a redhead and has been a member of the Avengers team. The other BW is a blonde whose name always escapes me, but has similar skills to Natalia though not as good IIRC.

For the sequel we'd most definitely get Natalia.

Wa-wait, WHAT??? I thought the director was trying to find ways to incorporate Mandarin on the spotlight without making him out-of-place? Also didn't they replace Crimson Dynamo with Stane/Iron Monger for the first movie already…..

Anyway, I wish Ultron would be the Avengers villain. He has so many chances to be a big baddie already in three recently announced Marvel movies (Avengers, Ant-Man, Runaways) and I wish for him to be the main villain in Avengers (then Runaways). He is just so powerful in comparison to all of them even though he's just a robot. SO BADASS!

I find leaving Mandarin as the villain for the final movie a lot better to increase focus on the Ten Rings. Dynamo could work as villain for the 2nd one though, but so long as they make the fight longer.

Yeah I hope that if they ever make Ultron, that he's not just a spur-of-the-moment robot gone bad. I want him to start out in his little ol' helper droid form.

But yeah true, I actually won't mind seeing Crimson Dynamo since Mandarin should be the last (what the hints on the Ten Rings and all in the first movie).

I sort of expected Mandarin too this time…but if they sort of make it a trilogy, then hopefully they will bring the Ten Rings group back to build up to his big reveal. But looking over the Dynamo, I can probably see it working now with how US/Russian relations have soured (or just have him created by some former Soviet scientist, I dunno).

Happy Terrance Howard is gone actually and seeing Black Widow come in could be a nice diversion...I just hope they don't overstuff it with heroes. Preferably I rather see War Machine than Hawkeye this time around...sure Hawkeye is more key when the Avengers are unleashed, but War Machine is just too good to pass up.

IMO the Crimson Dynamo is a good choice for #2. He's basically the Anti-Iron Man and I think audiences will enjoy that.

Also John Favreau hinted that the may be going with the "Demon in a Bottle" storyline. If that's the case, then we will definitely see a lot more of War Machine.

I can't remember where I found it (there were so many sources but all were official). They all came along with the Avengers news and such.

I read one article on Wikipedia, and another Marvel news centre.

There are chances that the scriptwriter is apparently the main creator of Runaways but this is unconfirmed since Marvel Studios still hasn't decided on this. How do I know this? Well that's what I got from Wiki and a Marvel site but apart from that, my sister watches the original Runaways artist on DeviantArt and showed me that if the scriptwriter is on board for the movie well then hopefully she (the artist) can also help.

I just saw Iron Man last night. I don't think it measured up to all the hype I've heard for it, but that's not to say it wasn't a good movie, as it was. Hopefully the sequel is good as well.

I find the first movie to be like them taking a comic book arc and turning it into a movie, and it was done pretty well.

Yeah, I think its better if they do Iron Man the same as they do Spider Man series (what I mean is, they shouldn't show one of the final/more complicated villians until they wenjt over some of them easier things). Like for example, in SM, they can't do something like the clone wars until they show some other movies (to be exact, w/ carnage, the death of Gwen Stacey, and maybe also the Sinister 6…and theres also Morlun, which not everyone knows about, since most Spidey fans know the ones most in the 90s SM series)

I would like Ultron to be next (but I dont know much about the Avengers, since I haven't read much of their comics)

Nah from what I gather the movie, if it will be a trilogy will focus on the Ten Rings organization. If Crimson Dynamo is a villain in the next movie, then expect it to be a Russian mafia organization with ties with or is one of the Rings.

This movie should be legendary, Downey Jr.'s comeback is quite impressive, Rourke too. And Scarlett Johansson is legendarily hot, with Favreau still on board, I'm liking the look of this flick.
