After the chapter, this epilogue really feels like a fake gag ending - making fun of Naruto, Bleach and the likes.

Catherine looked like she aged like 20 years, Hasegawa not going back with his wife wouldve kinda of a dick move, KondoxOtae not happening, that kid that claims she is Shinpachis daugther, yeah that looks like a bait a switch attempt, Sorachi about to troll us again.

It's hard to take anything seriously in this series. I'll be more surprised if the "final fantasying" isn't another alien gag.

The Madao thing seems weird, I'm wondering if the kid is Hasegawa's and we are about to see his wife. She just confused Shinpachi for Hasegawa as they both wear glasses and she's too young to see the difference between sunglasses and normal ones.

Hasegawa won't stay long in this state, Sorachi love making him rise and fall like a cat playing with a mouse (or a gorilla with a banana). I think the kid in last page is the daughter of Sarutobi. I see her very well telling her child (or paying a stranger to act like) she is Gin-chan's daughter. And since Shinpachi is wearing this name now, it is normal the kid mistook him for Gintoki.

So, with the recent developments in the chapter and the fact that we are over the mark of the volume 74 for ending, I don't know what we'll be getting, but Gintama lives for up to another 9 chapters.
I think that's enough time to close the manga, but if this arc is really starting, then any predictions are off.
I'll be here for the rest of the journey, and Gintama having more chapters than Naruto and Bleach gives me an undeserved sense of pride, but being in 673, and having to go at least to 682, and not going for 700 would be un-jump.

I liked the bait and switch the Gorilla pulled here, going all epilogue time on us, just to then have the story still continue for a while.
New episode was very well produced, though sadly they cut off some lines - especially between Kyubei & Tsukuyo, which is a bit of a shame seeing how that scene was pretty much closing off their character arcs.

Right, the anime is another factor, unless this new arc is BIG, they might not do it.
But the troll moment of pulling a fakeout ending with the "new country of the samurai" chapter would be too perfect to miss. Like the season ends there and then, like it is the ending, but with all but timeskip Shinpachi revealed, and next season is the actual final one, this time for sure.

Omg, this just keeps going on and on and it is really good to have this comedy back in the series. It is all I wanted before saying goodbye to it. A funny as hell epilogue arc. I am glad Jump did not forcefully rush it like Bleach or Toriko.

Does anyone have any idea what the hell is going on? I'm loving the Donald Zuramp (it's not Zura-mp, it's Katsura), Final Fantasy and devil fruit jokes, but the plotline is completely flying past me for these past few chapters

I think that bots have evolved.
Anyways, Takatsuki has gained inmortality, and he wants to go on with his plan, there is another very beaten up person going around being sinister, and Katsura got the post of PM but no one in the goverment actually wants him there. Kagura and Tama are using mini-them for diferent reasons.

I'd say that Gintama is one of the few series where the Anime experience can be superior to the manga, and also is in it's enterity on Crunchyroll.

I loved the bathroom gag of Gin accepting his own mortality because he thought that Shinpachi broguth a pre-teen home, as that would force cancelation of the series, and how he longed to the simpler hapier times of 4 pages ago when he thought that he brought a very old woman home.
Also, how everyone keeps trying to rope in Takatsuki on a gag, and him calmly rejecting even being the straight man.

Gintama reached its peak with the Farewell Shinsengumi arc. and began its downfall with the Shouyou/Utsuro revelation. Poor thing has been in a walking dead state for years now, like it used to be my number one and now I can't remember last time I read a chapter. Anyway, it's time.

I can understand that. I think the Shouyou/Utsoro revelation was fine. It could've been handled poorly but it wasn't. My issue is this epilogue feels really unneededed. The battle against Utsuro felt complete and ended in a great way. Yet it just keeps going.

Disagree on how "needed" the epilogue was. These characters deserve more than the "Final Fantasy" aproach that was mocked when this exercise started. While Utsuro and Takatsugi could have just died back then and this is just a reunion arc (and without a serious coure this epilogue would have ended already), this is completelly in the spirit of Gintama, of mocking your expectations, and going one notch over the top again.
Besides, Sorachi is less than 7 chapters away to have more chapters than Naruto and Bleach, with that goal in sight it would be anti-shonen jump not to go the extra mile.

Haha, at this point I think they're just surpassing Naruto and Bleach in length and will then end it not long after. It will be weird to see it gone from the WSJ roster. The oldest thing after, of course, OP and HxH will be Haikyuu!! from 2012. 2012! So many series have finished in the last 3-4 years, it's kind of sad. Kochikame, Naruto, Bleach, Toriko, Beelzebub, Ansatsu Kyoshitsu, and so on. Most of them ended quite badly, unfortunately…
