There is enough time until April to rewatch the whole series if I start today.
Amazing. Hope it's actually animating the new stuff, and not just another bunch of reruns or something
Now Sunrise has manga material enough for 4+ cours.
So, how long do you guys think it'll take before they start making fun of the whole "final chapter" stuff they did with the movie?

Awesome news. A lot of cool arcs weren't animated yet.
I can't wait for the latest one in particular.About the latest chapter, I have a feeling that Sorachi is almost done setting up everything for a final arc where the Tendoshu will fall at the hand of the remaining Shoyo students and their "allies". Maybe another arc before that to explain the "Naraku 3" Nobume is part of.
It can happen at anytime he wants. Still, I expect the manga to return to gag chapters/arcs for a while which is also good. -
Sweet, I can't wait. The gender bend and body swap arcs were pure gold, not to mention this current arc. Hopefully they manage to cover the first two first.

Well it seems all Gintama fans were spoiled for this christmas! However even if I can't wait to see all these new chapters animated (I wonder how they will manage to animate the bi*tchs arc), now we need at least one serious arc with Zura. I'm really disappointed with this character, Sorachi in the first chapters gave him always funny and epic sides at the same times and that's what made him great, but in the last chapters it seems that the epic and serious side completely disappeared against the comic side….

It was a nice arc but still a funny one like the shogun amnesia arc. They had great potential to be epic arcs but finally they were mostly comic arcs in my view.

! In wikipedia it's said that after the death of the young Shogun Tokugawa Iemoshi it was decided that Tokugawa Yoshinobu will replace him. In the beginning of his rule, he used all the power of his relations with USA, France and Russia to reinforce his army. He gained so much fire power that the imperial court that first named him was afraid to be overthrown by him. The court mainly influenced by Chōshū Domain (native place of Takasugi Shinsaku and Katsura Kogoro), make Yoshinobu resign from his position. It's the beginning of Meiji Restoration. Little by little, with the influence of Chōshū, Yoshinobi lost all perspective to be in the coming government, so he decided to go to Kyoto with his army to free the young emperor from "the corrupted court" and restore his influence. He found there the army of Chōshū and other Anti-Tokugawa domains. It's the beginning of the Boshun war. Among the Shogun army was the Shinsengumi and it was leaded by several big heads such as Matsudaira Katamori, Kondo Isami and Hijikata Toshuzo. They lost the war, the Shogun ran away to Edo and lived reclused after the emperor forgave him. However the last supporter of the Tokugawa shogunate continued to battle and even managed to make a Republic that lived a short year…
! To make it short, if Sorachi is still refering to History at some point Shinsengumi and Nobunobu will fight together against the young emperor influenced by Takasugi. The emperor will win but Takasugi will die before... -
The problem with that is that tons of characters aren't much like their counterparts. Like vastly so. Especially with historical Takasugi VS Takasugi Shinsuke. But then there's all the characters in Gintama that are original and all that, even if Takasugi suddenly changed his entire philosophy.

Well it's true, but still Sorachi inspired a lot from real events from Japan History to make his stories, as the Kensei Purge, the Joui War, the death of Tokugawa and rise of Hitotsubashi… That's why I think that the last arc of Gintama will very likely be a Boshun War readaptation where Nobunobu resigns and runs away, the emperor wins and Takasugi dies.
