Does anyone know how to use this? I mean, from the very getgo I have problems. I've found some FAQs but they're all pretty worthless. I don't even know if I can use the version I have or whatnot. I need baby-step help.

      Your assistance is much appreciated!

I've narrowed down my problem to not being able to connect to nodes. A bunch come up when I hit Connect but it doesn't stay connected to any. What gives?

No matter where you go, there you are.

First question: Are you using a router? If so, what brand? Either reply here or PM me, then we'll go to the next step.

I called it wrong, so long ago. I guess this needs to be changed.

          I'm using a wireless Linksys.

            Easy slice, then.

            Do this:

            1. Open your browser.

            2. In the address bar, type: 192.168.1.1

            3. Default Username should be admin. Password should be admin or blank, depending on the router.

            4. Go to the wireless section.

            5. Go to the Port forwarding Section.

            6. Open another Window in another tab. Google the port forwarding settings for this particular P2P site.

            7. Enter those values in the Port Forwarding section.

            8. Save the changes

Should fix it. If not, I highly recommend you go to http://dd-wrt.com , go to the Supported Routers section, find your model, and download their custom firmware. To upload it to the router:

            1. In the address bar, go to 192.168.1.1

            2. User Name is admin. Password is blank or Admin

            3. Go to the Admin or Advanced Tab

            4. Click on Firmware Update.

            5. Upload the .bin file you got from dd-wrt

            6. Go into Tools - > Internet Options (Tools -> Options if Firefox)

            7. Clear Cookies

            8. Restart the Browser

That should take care of it. The DD-WRT firmware is top notch.

I called it wrong, so long ago. I guess this needs to be changed.

              Hey. Okay to questions!

              5. Go to the Port forwarding Section.

              I can't find this section ^_^; Help!

              6. Open another Window in another tab. Google the port forwarding settings for this particular P2P site.

I used a FAQ which I will link below but they said this about 'port' settings.

On the same dialog box, the port number should be five digits, and you will need to open up the same port on any software or router firewall you have running. If you are using the Windows XP SP2 firewall, click on Start, Settings, Control Panel, Windows Firewall, Exceptions and then Add Port, ie. the same number as listed in Share - Settings - Network. EX2 is TCP only, so you don't have to worry about UDP. You can leave Performance, Action and Quota the way they are. Hit OK.

I can't find anything that tells me what I need to enter for port. Just random numbers?

Are you trying to use Share? I've used WinNy and Share (and have a Linksys router), so I may be able to just give you my node files and settings for those.

Greg, the port forwarding for you is:

Application and Gaming -> Port Range Forward.

After you get there, you can follow Ace's directions.

                  Runa,

Yes! It's SHARE. Once I get to the screen you explained how to get to, what do I do? Start, End, Protocol, IP Address, Enable etc. I don't know what I should change. Furthermore, what setting do I need to change within SHARE to meet that?

                  Thank you!

Start and End are the same thing. You have to forward 2 ports if your ports aren't open (mine are right now but…)

So let's say you want port 11023 open. Do this.

                    Start = 11023, End = 11023, Protocol = Both, IP Address = 192.168.1.[your IP address], Enable = Check.

The thing is, though, if you don't have your regualr setting right, these won't even work.

I can't remember exactly how I setup share (haven't used it for around a year), but it still works when I check on it.

Was there a part where it told you what port to open?

[EDIT: AHA! Open share, go to tools, and click on newtork and use the port shown and follow the opening directions I typed to the best that you can and then ask from there]

LOL, They already have vol 52 up.

Man, I still can't get it to connect to any nodes. I dunno what the deal is. I don't even have some super security tight router. Every node it checks constantly is "Down" even though I add fresh ones. I dunno what's wrong.
