Did anyone watch it? If not, it was the best one I have ever seen (though this was my first year actually tuning into it). When the float for Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends came rolling down the street, they stopped and started singing some kind of beat. All of a sudden, who should come out of the float but Rick Astley himself to sing "Never Gonna Give You Up"!! It made my whole morning!
Thanksgiving Day Parade

Wow, if I knew Astley was singing, I would've called everyone I know to tune in.
-
Hahaha, I just saw that on Macy's! Did he do it on both parades?

Damn, youtube is fast. Is it delayed here? It says it happened an hour ago than it did here. Isn't this live?
Is it just me, or is he lip syncing? I mean… it sounds exactly like the final song.
EDIT: Went over to /b/, and instead of being happy... most of them are in grief. With this, they consider Rickroll dead and are now looking for a new meme.
-
Nah, he's singing over the song that actually has the lyrics on it. I can hear it.
Hahahahahahaha, I had no idea they referred to it as Rick Rolling. Hahaha, it has become mainstream.
-
Oh great, now it's mainstream. :/ Eh, was funny though! Rick saved that segment because the Foster's crew were singing horribly.
-
Rickroll has been pretty mainstream for awhile now, it's just fully mainstream now. Well… actually, I wouldn't say that. Most people who saw it on there who didn't know about it probably didn't get it and will leave it be.
But I guess the point of a meme is to be an "inside joke". Rather most of American gets it, who knows. I still don't get it, like most memes, but it's fun.
-
Mainstream or not, it still makes my day :D can't really go wrong with a Foster's float + Rickrolling the whole freaking parade. And Cheese. Cheese made the whole thing :). Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
-
I just can't get over how out of left field it came. Not only the fact they let something which spawned from and is celebrated on a board based around… let's just not try to round that down to a word... into the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade, but the fact it just came from a Foster's float.
I should have been in bed, but I just randomly turned the TV on and BOOM.
-
Ahhh I love this parade dearly. I love the snoopy, pikachu, pokeball, kermit, and three clowns at the end of the parade before santa comes.
However not the biggest fan of Miley Cyrus so wasn't thrilled seeing her there. But atleast the Jonas Brothers weren't there.
I would have like to have seen Masi Oka from hereos there. But a very Good parade overall.
-
I can't say I can complain about it being mainstream. The fad's like two years old, who cares?
-
You know what was scarier? Just before the parade even started, there was a commercial of Barry Manillow doing a cover of that stupid song for his new 80s cover album. And then when I saw that one of the guests was going to be Rick Astley…I just turned off the TV and watched the new OP OVA online.
-
Wow.
Wowowowowow.
Thanksgiving got Rickroll'd?
Somewhere in the fiery depths of Hell there's a snowball basking leisurely.
-
The Foster's float Rick Roll was the best moment in TV history in my opinion XD
-

Well my problem is it's not mainstream and the people who were Rickrolled didn't even know it happened. If it's going to be done, it needs to be done well, and the Macy's one wasn't that well done.
At a critical moment when someone is dying for something badly (lsay Code Geass streams) a Rickroll is funny for both the prankster and the pranked. It helps relieve the tension of the situation IMV…and those who get mad are funny to watch, too. All of this is set to Rick's silky smooth voice.
Half n' half is not the way. >>;
-
That is just too awesome! XD It's too bad I didn't get to watch it though. =(

Congratulations, you fail.

I'm not American and I have no clue what the parade is really about, but that thing could still have been at least somewhat amusing if he'd just sung the song and left instead of stressing the point that he was LULZ RICKROLLING THE AMERICANS.
-
What's great is that it proves the old saying. Anything can be made uncool the instant your parents understand it.
-
Rick rolling has been mainstream along time. Ashley Tisdale covered the song. Mtv "rickrolled" (spelled ED) its audience
-
Man and I liked being the only who understood RickRolling between my friends. Even my school news rickrolled us one morning XD
Anyone seen this before?
