Delicious! Thanks BF.
YES!
Been waiting two weeks for this! <3 Thanks BF!
Yanno, I think I might skip this today, and watch the flashback all in one go. That's how much I love this flashback - it needs to be seen in one sitting.
"The cook Fainted" haha so matter-o-factly! Thanks Battle Franky!

not a bad idea actually…
I know it's nit-picky, but I think the delivery of "Montblanc Norland" by the present-day shaman was a bit weak, compared to the Japanese VA's anyway. Otherwise great ep. Love all the new voices... Calgara, Norland, Muse, Seto ("Screw the rules, I have tree fever!").
I love this backstory… it's so sad but touching.
Makes me wish that Wyper and Cricket would meet :P
Thanks BF! This episode was simply superb. All the characters voices are great! ^^ I'm glad we at least get to finish off this story before the re-runs. ^_^
(Random Skypiea question: Was the origin of Giant Jack ever revealed?)
Meh, I don't like Noland's voice. Sounds too rough like some sort of drill sergeant. I'd have preferred a softer, more knowledgeable sounding voice.
I agree Noland sounds different than what I was hopping for, but I can live with it.
I don't like the one voice in Norland's crew… You know? The one that stands out.

Not really; it's existence is really more of a pun. Obviously 'Jack' referring to Jack and the Beanstalk, but also it goes through those layers of clouds until you're finally above the clouds and in the sky (just like the story).
! Enel somewhat completes the pun by turning into a Giant himself :P

I always understood the reference…it's just that the Giant Jack has to have some grounding on an island or something...meh, I guess it may remain one of OP's mysteries...unless it actually gets referred to again, though it's highly doubtful.
Hm.
I enjoyed this episode; I thought it was translated well. "The cook fainted" made me laugh.
I liked Calgara's voice, and Norland's crew, as well as the Shandorians, but…
Meh. I am not too fond of Norland's. It's too rough and...a little redneck for me. I feel like the voice actor is trying too hard or something. I think if he smoothed his voice out more it would have sounded better.
But that's just me. I still love these episodes.
I thought Norland was great stop being nitpicky guys
Silver Bolt-that sig is f***ing sick
lol @ all the "Just shuttup and love whatever Funi gives you attitudes!"
It was a good episode. Didnt love Noland's voice but I dont remember much of what he sounded like originally(I thought it was abit smarter) so it wasnt a big deal at all to me.
Everyone else sounded good. Calgara was great.
Well, let's face it: Norland's a bit character.
So I'm betting this would've been skipped over for the US airing, if we'd gotten this far.
What with the human sacrifice and all.
Oh snap, I'm getting behind again. starts downloading
Funimation made a translation goof in this episode. Originally they called Noland "Monbran" not "Montblanc."

Thanks, I just took 2 images I found on Google and made them into two colors; black and white and then inverted. And added a green and white screen on top.
Thanks Battle Franky. I like this backstory because Calgara and Norland are both kick-ass fighters. I love how Norland cuts the giant snake's head off with ease. It alway brings a grin to my face. Though, it's too bad how Norland gets portrayed as a wimpy liar 400 years later.

Again, the edited dub was forced to use 4Kids-terms that 4Kids never used, for the worst reason ever. ("THEY APPEARED IN A GAME THAT NOBODY PLAYED LOL!!!") That's why they used that spelling before, but are now using the one that actually makes sense. Because, again, this is the uncut dub.

I really doubt it… unless you're talking about 4kids.
Although on second thought, even 4kids probably would have aired it, with hilarious edits ("Quick commodore! Save that girl before the snake gives her a fierce tickle with that tongue of his!").
are there any episodes the rest of the week?

I don't believe Noland appeared in any of the games.
He was mentioned by Cricket at some point in Pirates Carnival, that's the spelling they used for it. They used "Sirkees" for Sarquiss in that as well.
