Check this out iv'e been talking with my friends and most of them totally down one piece ( it's because of the powers thing and the fact that they don't really have any) so any i started to do some thinking and i figured that the one piece charaters are weaker than other shonen hero's like luffy compared to Yusuke or even that Pansy naruto, since he has no energy wave powers he's at a loss
well holla back and tell me what you think.

well for one i think its a different genre, and i think crocodile vs gaara is a good match up, see this gaara cant turn into sand but it can protect him with various armor techniques, crocodile's powers i think focusing more on offence and such, he also has poison things, and last he can turn into sand
conclusion: i dont think gaara can beat crocodile w/o using some water which will hurt his own sand too, and see this, Crocodile can beat gaara w/o water, get it? -
Well, as ron_8 said it is a impossible to compare powers from different mangas. Each manga has their own world and powers.
Besides, powers could never determine the worth of a character. -
i feel you both but what about that new game Shonen Jump all stars they will be fighting in that so apparently you can compare the powers
-
one thing about games is that they tend to balance things out or it wouldnt be a good game if some characters are way stronger than the other characters, so im guessing probably they will balance it out for example the damage of naruto's rasengan will be equal to the damage output of luffy's gomu gomu storm, just my thoughts

First of all, it´s really dumb look down on a manga/anime because of the "power level" of the characters. PATHETIC. I mean, these guys will never read something like 20th Century Boys(which KICK the asses of 90% of the shonens out there :P ) because the characters don´t blow up things with Eye Beams and stuff? <_< "Sweet"…..
Ps - About the specific case of OP...ya know...Eneru can just take down entire casts of a bunch of shonen series out there...same for Ao Kiji and Ace...even for Luffy(who, in close combat, is almost UMBEATABLE...)...so...your friend´s motivations are stupid, and also WRONG. :P
(And remember, I´m kidding, take it easy... :P )

Well, I doubt any DBZ characters will have the DESTROY THE UNIVERSE attack, so yeah.

One Piece characters weak?? There is no way to even begin to counter such a ridiculous and pointless statement.
-
The lack of power levels, and shooty laser beams, and power ups is one of the things that makes One Piece great.
-
I agree. Luffy only has his rubber body and his punches, and no deux ex machina type abilities hidden up his sleeve. You think this might limit Luffy's development as a fighter, but it only makes Oda think harder of ways to make it creative and interesting. That's what makes him a great writer, because he isn't lazy enough to throw in new stuff for the sake of it.
-
Agreed. One Piece is one of the few shonen jump titles that don't have the cliched life energy, chakra, nen, etc. stuff that others have.
That and putting devil fruit users against ninjas from Naruto would be a bit unfair since there is the obvious amount of power from logia devil fruit users while the rules involved in Naruto just make the characters sadly limited with the stamina and all, and that the natural Naruto fan support that there's genjutsu that would beat them doesn't really work since the characters in One Piece don't have what is needed for such jutsus to work.
But of course the shonen jump fighting game will be balanced.

What I like about OP is that the characters can cause MASSIVE destruction without super god-like powers and laser beam stuff. A single fist can wreck the entire world is what describes the powers of OP. And if you say OP characters are weak, think again… (points to Eneru)
-
i like not having to wait 10 eps for someone to power up just my 2 cents
-
Well, it's safe to say that ANY shonen hero will lose to Dragonball Z (After all these guys have the power to blow up the world so that's all they have to do to achive victory) Though I do like One Piece more.
-
I don't care much about how "powerful" a character is.
-It's all relative. Remember, there are places where all you need is knowledge of the next solar eclipse to be a god. If you're trying to throw people in completely different classes together, it's gonna make for terrible writing.
-It's the right choice for the setting. Much like trying to render the Iraq war in steampunk style might not fit, the weak characters and low tech are fitting for a 'pirate age' story.
-It does make for better story telling. I don't care for the "oh, the world's gonna end but I have my magic power to save it" excuse. It's implausible. Frankly, I think the strength range shown by the OP characters already falls well over the standard human range (that poor sea-cow! :( ) What more do they want? This isn't the X-men.

What a coinicidence, while I was writing my post, I was thinking of the X-men comics and how they're the biggest offenders when it comes to deux ex machinas and the like.

OP characters…weak?
well we could say that the characters mostly have powerful physical attacks...I dont think they are weak by just that.
I even think that I enjoy reading manga or watching anime that doesnt have those power up stuff that wastes time..for example dragon ball. I love the series but then due to their super time-wasting power ups, you must watch the next episode to see the real fights.
Its nice to see if the fights are direct and fast that your eyes could not catch up anymore!
-
And ZORO would be knocked out the next time he gets hit with awfully destructive stuff…Right?
-
like some others said, the dbz fighters were at the maximum level whats possible in a shonen manga.i mean they must look that they dont destroy the whole galaxy in a battle.
a second manga with that kind of characters would be imo pretty boring.
although i dont know many mangas but op is the one with the second strongest characters. -
first off you guys mis understood my motiaves i was saying this is why i love the charcters, because they don't have these fruit moves which are forbbiden. one piece fighting is all about hat tricks and there are many pulled, i was jsut saying that's why i like them. and what is 20th century boys sounds awesome
