I didn't know where else to say this and maybe there has already been a topic about this, but I just went ahead and made one.
I just read the really interesting interview with Oda (OP) and Toriyama (DB) (OP and DB both influenced my life, I can't say how much, but I was at least a very big fan of DBZ when I was small and now I'm a big fan of OP, so yeah it's cool.). That's why it and I just want to say a few things about it. I'm also curious about your opinions.
One of the things that struck me the most was the contrast between the two authors in their treatment of minor characters. Oda mentions minor characters that Toriyama had drawn in Dragon Ball and Toriyama seems to have forgotten about them. And than later on, when Toriyama is asked about his favorite character, he replies Picollo, while Oda replies with Gaimon. Of course, Gaimon had a very moving story, but he was just a one-episode-character, so very minor. This also further shows that Oda puts effort even in the minor characters.
Well you should read the interview yourselfs. One of the questions I was wondering is if Oda was dissapointed with Toriyama during the interview. (I had to think about Tony Tony Chopper being dissapointed with his great idol Hogback.) I think not, judging by how he is happy hearing his way of thinking up characters in the beginning is similar to Toriyama.
