I'm just asking, what do you think of all of the arcs? Which is your fave, etc.
Here are my opinions:
Captain Morgan/Buggy/Captain Kuro/Don Krieg: All of them pretty much the same formula, short and get a new crewmate. I find these all excellent though.
Arlong Park: Awesome. They should do more character specific arcs, and not ones where they get a new crewmate. I loved the Mermen and new characters.
Louge Town: Great, but sadly short. Probably my favorite next to Water 7 because Buggy and Alvida are back, Lion-dude rides a Lion Motorcycle and Zoro gets new swords!
All Events Leading Up To Alabasta: Meh. Fine, giants got extremely tedious, flashback with Tony wenton to long. And I hated the villian of Walopu!
Alabasta: Great, but took to long to resolve. I was getting tired of infinite battles right aroung when Zoro fought Daz Bones, and Ussop was beaten very violently. Disturbing…
Skypiea: I hated the concept of "a city on clouds...oooh...and angels", not very One Piece like in my opinion. They wasted whole chapters explaining what Dials did and Eneru...Why the heck was he trying to go to the moon?! At least Chopper's and Robin's battles were cool...
Water 7: Awesome. The coolest city in the whole series. Oh please, let Paulie join...

What else shall i say?^^
Sly, me and you are of the same opinion^^ -
Here it sounds like you don't even like some of the arcs… I love all of them, especially Arlong, Louge Town, Alabasta, Skypiea and W7.

Well, it's true, i dont like Skipiea for sure, and i red it just to see what would have happened next. It could be interesting, but sure it lasts too much from my point of view :) . I also found the giant arc a little boring.
Therefore, i think Water Seven it's the best of all: the dramatic tension in this arc is something i cannot describe; than there is Arlong Park for the same reason… it would be Luogue Town if it would have been a little more developed.

Infinte battles? They fight for about 12 chapters. The Vol.22 stuff is to unorganized to be called battles.
Skypiea: I hated the concept of "a city on clouds…oooh...and angels", not very One Piece like in my opinion. They wasted whole chapters explaining what Dials did and Eneru...Why the heck was he trying to go to the moon?! At least Chopper's and Robin's battles were cool...
How wasn't it?
Ener went to the moon because of this…
"Ener went to the moon because hes from the sky.
And because hes from the sky rocks and dirt are cool and rare.
And because the moon is made of rocks and has dirt, its really fucking awesome to sky people.
And because giant floating orbs made of rock are incredible to sky people like Ener, Ener wants to go to the giant floating orb of rock."-meYou need to pay more attention. Maybe you would have enjoyed the arc more?
-
To Zephos: Gee, excuse me. It'as my opinion, I'm sorry maybe I don't pay mas much attention as you do. And maybe, I don't like some of the Arcs, but that's my opinion.
And about the Arlong Park thing: Did they get a new crewmember? Nooo. Did they bring a crewmember back? Yes. It is defenitely not the same formula as the other arcs. This time the villian actually had a cruel personality and was involved with a main character. And the Alabasta thing, maybe I didn't mean 'infinite fighting' I mean infinite leading up to a not-so-great battle. -

When did I say it wasn't?

Technically a new crewmate is gained, regardless of the circumstances. And the formula of…
Tyrant-esque bad guy starts trouble.
His henchmen fight the secondary cast. And then Luffy beats him after a big struggle. And the Alabasta thing, maybe I didn't mean 'infinite fighting' I mean infinite leading up to a not-so-great battle.
Thats your opinion alright..
-
Water 7 is the best i mean it has alot of Ups and downs and all that stuff. plus we might get a new crewmember :P
-
I actually found every arc fantastic in one sense or another. Arlong first showed just how incredible One Piece could be when it got really serious, and Alabasta was just orgasmic storytelling. I (personally) think the build up, battles, everything was just perfectly in synch, something that's pretty much impossible to find in the majority of other manga.
Skypiea was really fantastically written, and read somewhat like a nice novel to me… Albeit with lots of graphic fighting. I think it really showed a bit of a different side to the One Piece world, and immensely added to its depth, which I loved.
Even despite all that, I'll also have to say the Water 7 arc is my favourite. I actually have no doubt this will change over time, but I hold it solidly above the others for now. I just love the settings and characters, for one.
Oh, and also....
"Ener went to the moon because hes from the sky.
And because hes from the sky rocks and dirt are cool and rare.
And because the moon is made of rocks and has dirt, its really fucking awesome to sky people.
And because giant floating orbs made of rock are incredible to sky people like Ener, Ener wants to go to the giant floating orb of rock."That made me burst out laughing for some crazy reason. Thank you.

Morgan- It has to be good. It got us hooked on OP.
Buggy- Introduced the greatest character ever, and I dont mean Boodle!
Kuro- Jango and Ussop? Kuro's hella evil plan? Sweetness.
Baratie- Mihawk and Zoro kill each other? Awsome. Sanji. Big plus!
Arlong- …
Louge Town- More of the greatest character ever and had Smoker!
"The whole Baroque Works Arcs"- My favorite arcs, save Wapols but Choppers story made it even awsomer.
Jaya- Bellamy. Sweet.
Skypeia- I like it a lot. I love the concept of dials and Gedatsu almost like Chopper.
Davey Black Fight- That ref whistling made me laugh. Plus Count Chocula.
Water 7- Betrayl was what made Arlong so great. This is another Arlong Arc, but better. Plus Popey and Soge King!
I look at arcs for character and villians. If they get m, the the plot is even better. -
Beginning/Morgan: More a build-up to me than anything. Possibly my least-favorite arc, but that doesn't stop it from rocking. Mainly, to me, because of Zoro's badassery.
Buggy: First, I have to say this wasn't as bad an arc as others have said. I found it quite funny at times, not to mention Luffy's first "STAND UP!" moment with Chou-chou.
Kuro: The introduction of CAPTAIN USOPP. What else does one need? Oh, and Kuro was a badass… Jango was an idiot (and a Jacko rip-off) that I could really like... and that double-hit moment with the Gomu Gomu Bell and Kayaku Boshi.
Krieg: Mihawk! Sanji! I-AIN'T-GONNA-DIE!! Always a good combination. And Gin was in there somewhere too with those big steel balled-tonfa.
Arlong: This is, comfortably, my favorite of the East Blue arcs, and probably around #2 or #3 in my total ranking of arcs. Everything about it was... awesome. Arlong rocked, and "OK, Let's STAND UP!" was excellent (especially in the anime).
Logue Town: Introducing Tashigi and Smoker, the Logue Town arc was short, but sweet.
Whiskey Peak: Zoro owning a hundred people in a row? Hell if that isn't just awesome.
Little Garden: I liked the giants, myself... And Zoro's posing in the wax after trying to cut his own legs off.... I'll repeat that. CUTTING his LEGS OFF.
Drum: Chopper's flashback, and a few other moments really clinched this arc for me. It was awesome.
Alabasta: What can I say? The first super-epic arc in One Piece, and certainly not the last. Everything about it was just... awe-inspiring. Still, I find myself like Water Seven just a tad more.
Jaya: Short, but memorable. Most especially Bellamy's owning... which was just perfect.
Skypiea: Second of the super-epics, and a pleasant adventure tale in its own right.
Davy Back: Another mini-arc, but a fun one. I like the game atmosphere, and especially the Groggy Ring.
Water Seven: Just... I love this arc. At first, it seemed like Franky was the big villain. Then we get the inter-crew fight. THEN we get Iceburg's shooting. THEN we get Franky again. THEN we get CP9. THEN we get Franky's flashback. THEN Zoro gets stuck in a chimney. And a bunch of other crap too. It's excellent, and I'm looking forward to some serious ass-kicking.
-
Seriously, Alabasta is when the entire crew laid it all on the line for Vivi. Everyone is fighting life or death. Plus, this was really the first time The Strawhats conquered an unconquerable enemy. And then end!!!! THE END!!!!! The Stawhats raising their arms to show the mark of their friendships. In my opinion this is where the crew really solidified as a unit, everyone looking out for everyone else. By far my favorite arc.
And I think Water 7 is gonna be just as good, because once again everyone is putting their lives on the line for their friends, I just can't wait to see how it turns out.
-
I like all Arc. Skypiedia and Alasbasta. After Water 7 it will become my 1st favorite
-
well the top three is
1.W7 arc
2.buggy arc
3.jaya arcthe others were good to but these were the ones i enjoyed the most,
and the most unenoyabel arc to me was alabasta i found it pretty boring and way to long at least compared to the other arcs. -
Here are the arcs That i like and why:
Arlong Park–it has a nice story, all those thrills etc and some funny stuff
Logue Town--In a small town and just a day (think) so many happened...
Alabasta Arc--I was so touched by this arc especially during the end when the straw hats showed the mark of their friendship!
Davy Back Fight--for me its the most funniest arcs!!
Water 7- Im so crazy about this arc right now...more mysteries and thrills etc
I cant control my excitement for this arc!!!!!!!! -
i'm pretty much enjoy all the arc
and i think water 7 arc is the most interesting one, alot of things happen here.
but i just hate to wait untill it finish :( i hope it won't be along arc like the skypiea one. -
they are all great and together they are the best written and interesting story ive ever seen in my life.
nothing more to say for me.
-
Water seven has to be on my favourite list for now. It rekindled my dying interest in One piece along with a really cool looking water city. Well second in my list would probably be skypeia, it was pretty exciting too and I was practically cracking to see Luffy defeat Eneru…
-
I was practically cracking to see Luffy defeat Eneru
yeah i really wanted to see someone kick his ass, all confident and that shit and most importantly Im god so fear me :P

**Here we got my soulmate!
Wolfwood, Skypiea is 7 chapters longer then Alabasta. :P
-
damn <_<
-
They´re all awesome. In tha manga since the beggining, and, in the anime, the initial arcs are just average….until Arlong Arc. Maaaan, what I say is: if you don´t get hooked by the Arlong Arc, you should just give up on One Piece. It´s not for you, really. That just showed what this serie is about: dreams, feelings, friendship...and a lot of asskicking. :P
Alabasta was epic in a Lord of the Rings way, with all that soldiers, wars and drama.
Skypiea was epic in a Fairy Tale way, with that hundred years promise, honor, ancestors…and man, cool fights! And Eneru! The GOD! Just so badass that Oda made a ENTIRE page of his shock expression for get hurt when Luffy slapped him for the first time... :P
Davy Back Fight was....fun. :P
And Water7 is INCREDIBLE. And getting even better. B) -
for me all of the arcs are awesome, except the filler arcs especially the fuking apis arc and the pumpkin idiotic pirate kids arc, my favorite now is water 7 coz its really interesting and fun to read, full of suspense too
-
I like all the arcs… When they are leaving Alabasta, I had the feeling that they were really pirates, who could fight to the death. W7 is insanely good. Ruffy and Usopp fighting?!? Aewsome... And the idea that they're going to the Marine Headquarters, invading a jail that no one else in the world had break... O.O
-
WAter Seven is EASILY the best Story Arc so far, and it's not even done. Alabasta is a close second, and Arlong third, with Drum in a close runner up solely by merit of Chopper's Flashback.
My least favorite… probably the early parts of each major saga (East Blue, First Leg of the Grand Line, JAya, Davy Back.) Although each Saga gradually builds to it's best segment, they still start slowly before they pick up.
-
My rundown
Morgan Arc: Standard origin story but still very fun. Always love that scene of the bar when everyone finds out Luffy ate the gum-gum fruit. And the franticness once eveything hits the fan during their bount with Morgan. Good stuff
Buggy Arc: One of my favorites, Buggy is just a hoot of a villan. Not a major one mind you, but a very enjoyable character nonetheless and his and his crew fight with Luffy, Zoro, and Nami is just hilarious.
Kuro Arc: Kinda slowed down the pace for me though I commend this one for its great use of fairy tale material. Climax was good too but wasn't really into much as Buggy.
Baritie Arc: Another fave, good pacing and alot of great moments from Sanji introduction to Luffy repeatedly getting knocked around by Zeff. Zoro first fight with Mihawk (as well as his first defeat) to Luffy final battle against Krieg. Alot of great stuff in this one.
Arlong Arc: Great storytelling and the first where OP really cranks up its dramatic side. The way this arc leads you to believe that Nami is a heartless thief only to do a 180 and show the real reason. And the Arlong Park battles…woot.
Louge Town Arc: Short but fun, Buggy returns, Luffy and Zoro get some new adversaries after them and the crew finally reach the Grand Line after a bit of complications of course.
Whisky Peak Arc: Zoro kicken ass and sittin on top of the world, LOL! Great action here and the exchange between Luffy and Zoro is another cool moment.
Little Garden Arc: Nice moral about honor and taken down those who dare to mock it. Once again great frantic pace during the climax and love that send off at the end.
Drum Island Arc: Eh, not all that interesting. Like the part with the killer rabbit and of course Chopper's backstory. Not much really happens after that other then another great send off.
Alabasta Arc: Just so epic and fun. The group arriving and meeting Ace. The journry through the desert. Everything during Rainbase. The race to reach the kingdom and the strawhats going against the rest of the Baroque Works. All the while great character development and pace. Sure it takes awhile but is definently worth it, so much so that you'll be sad to see it end.
Jaya Arc: A good rest stop before the next major adventure. While its more or less just a set-up to the Skypeia Arc, it has it moments such as the jungle hunt, Bellemy getting laid out, and Knock Up Stream.
Skypeia Arc: Nice arc, good fairy tale atmosphere and the battles, while not as great as Alabasta, are nice.
Davy Back Fight Arc: Whee, love the way this plays out. The games are nicely planned and have some wonderful setups. Its actully a nice in between too as we have a non-serious villian in a long while since Buggy, an added plus.
Water 7 Arc: The group first serious bout with the government . Great drama at the start as the group finds itself at its seems and even worst once the true enemies make their self known. But I have a feeling near the end, the CP9 going to learn the hard way what it means to mess with someone namaka.
-
I definatly got love for all the story arcs of One Piece, though some more so than others. For me, Arabasta is the most epic so far. It was at the Baratie that I became definatly hooked though. With Water Seven not over, I can't yet put it as my favorite arc, but I think it will be once it is finished. One thing I've noticed though is that everyone is forgetting about the very beginning of the Grand Line, Laboon arc. I loved that whale of a home. Oda's got a knack for great animal characters. I can't wait to see more out of Yokozuna.
-
the reason why i love one piece so much is because it's the first manga that ever
made me cry :) so i just gonna list my favorite arc base on the best moment (IMHO)Arlong : the Bellmere & "you are my nakama" moment
Skypeia : Norland's flashback & the song of the island
Alabasta : Vivi's speach
Davy Back Fight : the "i will die for my nakama" moment
Water 7 : the tears of going merry
Drum Island : the death of the best doctor & the "good bye my stupid son" moment
Baritie : when Sanji saying goodbye to his master & Zoro's "i will never loose again" moment
Whisky Peak Arc : Laboon's moment (i don't know wich arc it belong to … so i just put it here)
Louge Town : the "i will be the greatest pirate" moment
Jaya : the "100 millons berryman" moment…. ?? i fill like i'm missing something
-
i love the departure of arabasta arc though, made me really emotional when vivi is doing her speach, and the straw hat pirates raise their hand with the X mark
"…. ?? i fill like i'm missing something"
apis? lol
-
the first chapters i read were of luffy's fight with buggy and that got me hooked
my favorite arc is definitly Alabastia, which i really like because i think that it had an end slightly less predictable, and with more variables than skypiea
Water 7 is the first arc i've had to wait weekly for, and i think that to really enjoy it, ill have to read it again
also, isn't the action now on the train a separate arc
-
Morgan Arc: For my first read through manga I thought it was great, now that I look back at it though I don't find it to be to intresting…
Buggy Arc: Same as morgan arc really, the only parts I liked was the moment with ShuShu and the pet store.
Kuro Arc: I dont mind this arc at all, it's far from one of my favourites but the KURO V LUFFY fight was cool to watch, and when Luffy just ramed of the front of the ship and smashed half of Kuro's crew into the ground, that was plain awesome.
Don Kreig Arc: I actully really liked this arc, and Can sit and happily re-watch it still, Because I really enjoyed luffy V kreig and ofcourse, Sanji's fights.
Arlong Arc: Pure… Badass... Arlong was 1 of the few enemys in any series that I could really hate, and the moment with Nami and Luffy, where nami asks for help was just pure... Emotional scenes at there best.
Buggys Mini-story: That was plain awesome, Buggy almost getting eaten by a gaint bird was just a XD moment If I ever saw one.
Louge Town arc: SMOKER SMOKER SMOKER!!! Very awesome arc, I thought the amount of time it spent was fine, I mean they didn't really have any fights needed there, It wasn't meant to be too big of an arc.
Apis Arc: I HATED this arc, It was the arc I would spit on if I could.
Whiskey Peak: Zoro completely pwned millions of Bounty Hunters… How on earth could that NOT be awesome!?!
Coby Helmeppo Arc: Skipped. I was on a 300k connection and had just seen whiskey peak, knowing that little garden was next, Why would I wait for it too see 2 eps with 2 characters I HATED completely.
Little Garden Arc: Really cool, I enjoyed the fight with Mr. 3, I hated Mr. 3 himself thought
Drum Arc: Pretty spiffy, I'm abit of a Chopper fan, so I couldn't wait to see him animated, It's an arc that I could watch through again, but would skip the less intresting parts.
Alabasta Arc: The crocodile fights… My favourite character of all time actully wins in a fight against the hero twice, I mean this was like the Chuunin Exam arc of One Piece.
Filler Arc: Apart from the Rainbow mist and Goat island fillers, I didn't mind these ones, I actully liked Zoro's and Choppers.
Jaya Arc: Bellamy. Need I say more? If so: I loved this arc, the best build up arc I've seen in a long while, can't wait to see more of it animated by KF.
Skypiea Arc: Whoa, I loved this in the manga, The priest where all pretty cool, packed full of laughs and fights, and had 1 of my favourite villans (Ranked 3rd in my overall list) in it, Enreu. Definatley my Favourite arc.
Davy Back fight: HaHa, I loved this arc, The basis for it is meant to be serious, I mean they could lose a crew member but the fights included Sanji wearing a football on his head, A boat race and more hilarious scenes.
Water 7: Unlike most, I dont really like this arc that much, I dunno why, I just find the humor in this one to not be as funny as most others, Sure the serious moments are cool, but I'm not really "OMG NEW CHAPTER NOW!!!!!!!!" exited about it, I hope Eneas Lobby or whatever it's called will be more intresting. So, For me it goes:
- 1. Sky Peia
- 2. Alabasta
- 3. Jaya
- 4. Arlong
- 5. Davy Back Fight
- 6. Water 7
- 7. Louge town
- 8. Drum
- 9. Whiskey Peak
- 10. Don Kreig
- 11. Little Garden
- 12. Kuro
- 13. Morgan
- 14. Buggy mini story
- 15. Buggy
- 16. Filler arc
-
My fave to least fave.
1.Jaya
2.Water7
3.Alabasta
4.Drum
7.Arlong
5.Whiskey Peak
6.Skypiea
7.Louge Town
8.Baratie
9.Morgan
10.D.B.F
11.Little Garden
12.KuroLoser:Buggy
Both Drum and Jaya deserve more credit.
Especially Jaya. Its so excellently crafted, to call it a transition arc is ignoring how much it accomplishes within 2 volumes. It is also the most mature of the arcs, and home of the most powerful and disturbingly real scene of all…..The Bar beatdown. A transition arc does not have scenes like THAT. -
Beyond Water 7 and Arlong Park being my favorites, and the filler stories and the early Buggy arc being my least favorites, it's hard for me to list all of them in any kind of order. I like all of them. ^_^
