What's Your Favorite Rpg Of All Time?
Do You Have More Than One?
My List Is:
-Persona 3 (FES)
Great/Somewhat Original Plotline & It's Stylish As Hell
Cant Wait For Four
-Final Fantasy VIII
Again I Love The Storyline Even Though It Was A Tad Bit Cliche
-The Legend Or Dragoon
This Will Always Have A Special Place In My Heart Because It Was The First RPG I Ever Played (Besides Pokemon)
Favorite RPG Of All Time
-
-
Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask- No matter what anyone says it's an Action RPG. It has a beautifully dark story that doesn't revolve around the classic cliche of saving the Princess. The gameplay also was spot on but it felt like a beta of a bigger game which it could have been if they just followed the formula a bit longer.
Link's Awakening- A story that conflicts with your feelings. TO destroy somethign you grow to love. It's so sad when you think of it and the gameplay was well made to fit our good ol' handheld of yesteryear.

Ha This is a new trend. But a good one.
1. FFVIII, Tales of Eternia.
2. Tales of destiny Remake, Tales of Vesperia
3. Legend of Dragoon, FFV

Bleh it was dead in the first place.
-
I don't consider Zelda games RPGs.
My six favorite Japanese RPGs are Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy VI, Seiken Densetsu III, Tales of Phantasia, and Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King.
Why six? Why not?
-
Breath of Fire 4
Disgaea 1
Final Fantasy 9 and 10
Kingdom Hearts 2 -
Bleh it was dead in the first place.
True enough. Hell, I might as well contribute. So my current all time RPG favourites are:
- Fallout 3
- Mass Effect
- Fable II
-
Well, my RPG experience isn't as rich as others, but out of the ones I've played, my three favorites are, in no particular order:
Final Fantasy IX (My gateway to Final Fantasy, and what an enjoyable experience it was)
Final Fantasy VI (A classic. I enjoyed it greatly)
The Golden Sun series (The creaotrs said a long time ago that they wanted these two games to be a springboard for something bigger. If a third game is ever announced, I will be very happy in my pants) -
I don't know if these are considered RPG's
Oblivion
Bioshock
-
Oblivion is⦠obviously. You could argue BioShock is a RPG. I mean it has some of the elements. But I dunno how many would agree.

Well I do. They have RPG elements.
-
Kingdom Hearts games
and Pokemon gba/ds games -
-
Mega Man 2 is the best RPG ever.
You level up through the game using heart containers. Gain new skills along the way by learning them. You don't jump on platforms (meaning it's not a platformer.)You traverse an open world enviroment and have encounters with enemies (unlike Linear Megaman.) Complete tasks for ingame rewards that advance your skill and sometimes add story elements in the game (achievements are just trophies.) The game doesn't have to be turn based (as proven by Final fantasy to be an RPG) Zelda is an Action-RPG.
-
Pokemon
Earthbound (it seriously is awesome, nuff said)
Sorry I haven't played any other RPGs yet. I'm really behind on that. -

Well, so Super Metroid is an RPG? Wait, no, that has platforming elements. I guess that means that the Mario RPGs aren't actually RPGs then.
Seriously, arguing this kind of thing is silly. I'm of the opinion that most games have RPG elements, and as a result I have a weird, specific definition of what an RPG is that eliminates some games that might be considered RPGs by others. I regard the Zelda games as action/adventure games with RPG and puzzle elements, and honestly you won't be able to convince me otherwise, just as I won't be able to convince you that they aren't RPGs.

1.Seiken Densetu 2/ Secret of Mana -
Crono Trigger
Persona 3
.hack//G.U. -

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King is the greatest RPG of all time, anyone who disagrees are in denial.
Follow that up with Kingdom Hearts.
-
Chrono Trigger
Final Fantasy VI
Golden Sun -

Mother 3 is slowly creeping up my list. I think it's better than Earthbound and extremely well-designed in general. It makes me sad that there almost certainly won't ever be a Mother 4. It's definitely already in my top 20, and if it ends as well as it's progressing, then it will finish far higher than it is now.

I Loved Chrono Trigger,FFVI,Tales Of Phantasia,&DGVIII:JOTCK(I Feel Dumb Because I Took Me 87 Hours To Beat The Main Story,Not Including The Dragovian Trials)
But I Havent Played The Other 2 -
Final Fantasy IV has and always will have a special place in my heart. It was one of my first back when it was Final Fantasy II on SNES and the DS update did not disappoint in the least beyond a couple cosmetic details (Feymarch/Cave of Summoned Monsters specifically).
-
Super Mario RPG
Why?
Because ever since I played it over 10 years ago, I've never stopped instinctively trying to use timed hits with every single RPG I've played since then. I just can't help it.
-
1. TES III: Morrowind
Probably the only game I've clocked over a 1000 hours playing over the years.
2. Final Fantasy VII've played dozens other RPG's, but I really can't pick any more to list since I like a lot of them the same. xD
-
1. Final Fantasy IX
2. Suikoden 1 and 2 (5 was pretty good too!)
3. Xenogears
4. Super Mario RPG
5. Crono Trigger -
Shining force 3 : Scenario one.
-
Fallout 1 (PC)
Earthbound (SNES)
Rogue (DOS)
Shin Megami Tensei (SNES)I'm not big on traditional JRPGs, but an honorable mention to FFVI.

You too!? I always worried I was the only one.
Anyways, in no particular order my favs are Super Mario RPG, Suikoden 2, FFT, Oblivion, and Mass Effect.
-
1. Final Fantasy V
2. Chrono Cross
3. Parasite Eve
4. Eternal Sonata
5. Digimon World 2My opinion is flawed when it comes to the last two, I knowβ¦
-
Star Ocean series(all 4), Valkyrie Profile series(all 3).
That's about a top 5 there.
-
I can't pick out my absolute favorite, but here are some of my all time faves.
Breath of Fire II- Aside from Super Mario RPG, this was my first "true" RPG. I've always loved the music and diverse characters.
Super Mario RPG- What's not to love?
Final Fantasy- My favorites include I, IV, VI and XII.
Oh, and if Kingdom Hearts counts as an RPG, than that too.
-

That's like⦠top 7...
Seriously though, you liked Till the End of Time? I thought it was OK, nothing really special. Though if you liked it, good enough I reckon.
Also, anyone ever play Radiata Stories? I enjoyed this game.

Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King is the greatest RPG of all time, anyone who disagrees are in denial.
This would be right for anyone who started RPGs with something like Final Fantasy 7.
Not saying it's a bad game or anything(good taste for calling it great), but it's not hard to be better when the bar is set so low.
Follow that up with Kingdom Hearts.
I know this is personal preference and all but just .
Anyway; for me it'd have to be either Mother 3 or Final Fantasy 6.

FF7 set the bar low? Ouch. I'll agree that it's not the best game out there, and it's quite dated, but for it's time I thought it was pretty good. In what respect are you saying the bar is low? Story, graphics, or something else?
-
Ah, I think you named like a thousand games.
Mario and Luigi? Is that an RPG? I'm confused!
You've never played Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga? Or Partners in Time? If not, you're missing out.
Anyway, speaking of Mario, I also like the Paper Mario games. I think Thousand Year Door is my favorite though.
BTW, does Fire Emblem count as an RPG? Hmm, I guess it's more of a strategy game.
-
Earthbound.
Mother 3, Final Fantasy VI, Chrono Trigger and both Paper Mario games are all amazing as well.
-

Partners in Time? Is that the one where Luigi's looking for Mario?
Eh, I probably missed a few of thems. The Paper Marios are pretty fun, still prefer ye olde Super Mario RPG though.
Also, I think Fire Emblem might squeeze into the SRPG category, but I'm not positive.

Nope. Partners in Time is a sequel to Superstar Saga, featuring Mario and Luigi teaming up with the baby versions of themselves. Trust me, the premise may sound silly, but the game is solid. If you can ever pick it up for the DS, do so.

Mario and Luigi was fun like hugging drunk pandas. plusβ¦no one likes Luigi. be quiet Luigi...you fool. Change your picture to Mario..or a mushroom..eww Luigi. :P

Yes. I did name a thousand games. They are all great games and in my head it's one big game orgy.
and that luigi perosn answered my question..im so tiredβ¦

uhhh Final Fantasy 7 started the way for alot of RPG's back then and set the bar pretty high for RPG's in generalβ¦.
don' get me wrong...there's nothing greater than a good old fashioned story driven 2-d RPG but don't knock it when it paved the way for almost all 3-d rpg's... that's like downing Mario for keeping games alive way back when.
plus i took that personal becuz cloud's dumbell arms r cute and Vincent's pretty fly..and hot... all of his pixels are hot >.> <.<
