I've been having a lot of trouble for a long time with spyware/adware called "Midaddle." What this piece of crap does is when you click on certain links, you'll get taken to an advertisement before the page you want to (kind of like commercials while you browse). Except even when the advertisement is "done," I don't get taken to the site I want to. Basically, this happens to me everytime I click a link to the forums (and to any topics on the forums). There's ways to get through this, but it's way too tedious and annoying to have to do it over and over again. I've tried deleting it many times (thanks to http://www.doxdesk.com , great site), even going through my registry to unroot it, but somehow it seems to be worming it's way back.

So that's why I haven't been here as much.

Get Spybot S&D, install it, do a auto track & clear of all the ad/spyware off your computer, and if you haven't already, jump onto the newest Firefox browser.

Should be smooth sailing for there on, I remember I had a lot of ad/spyware issues with IE, so I changed up. Not a single bit of popup, no adware, nothing now.

Hey, Carter, may I recommend a wonderful piece of Ad Removal software called Adaware? It's completely free, and nothing's better for killing spyware of all kinds. (I'd give the link, but I don't know it… Googling it will get you what you want)

ALSO! Go to www.firefox.com and download Firefox if you don't have it; It's an internet browser that lets NO spyware or popups through, and it's completely free.

            EDIT: Sorry, didn't see Franky's post until after I posted myself… We can consider this a double recommendation of the programs. ^_^;;

^^ Heh, yeh.. either approach will help him a great deal. Just get some spy/ad removal software & Firefox, and quit messin' around Carter. 😄

Neither Spybot or Adaware pick it up.

I don't feel like getting as new browser, because I have IE configured just the way I want it to be.

I have a really good analogy for IE, but I won't say it right now.

Carter, you can transfer your settings to Firefox from IE when you open it for the first time.

I really recommend FireFox. I haven't had any problem so far and importing settings from IE was super (except those Japanese bookmark folder names ^^; ).

I believe the installers can be downloaded from http://www.download.com/, but here is the site to FireFox http://www.firefox.com.

As for AdAware, I haven't tried it for updated versions… Before I heard many complained that after running AdAware, they couldn't connect to the Internet. (AdAware lets user to delete the virus files, and they probably deleted unnecesary ones, too.)

That was the mighty Carter Punch, an attack I've been developing for 50 years.

That was my last post on IE, now I'm on FireFox.

It imported my cookies and everything! This is so spiffy.

I use Firefox now as well. I have to…my Internet Explorer browser just doesn't work anymore. It was a normal day, and I opened IE up, and it kept bringing me to a "This page cannot be displayed" page. No matter what I did, that page kept coming up, so I couldn't go to any websites.

I used MSN Explorer (good thing it was pre-installed already) to read about what was wrong, and I tried everything I could think of. Nothing fixed it...when I once thought it was fixed, it would just mess up again in a few hours (it did this like 3 times). So I had to get Firefox. I've had no problems with Firefox so far.

Firefox is really a great browser. Tabbed browsing seems so natural to me and it has been nothing but rock solid since I installed it. Good stuff.

Even when I uninstalled and reinstalled Internet Explorer (I'm assuming I did it the hard way, because it sure wasn't easy…it was so confusing), nothing got fixed (it would only fix temporarily). Hopefully Firefox won't mess up, and if it does, hopefully reinstallation can fix it.
