there's nothing really special there, but it's a good place to request stuff
@LUFFY#1:
You mean season 0
It's not season anything. It's a whole different series and shouldn't be included with NAS' show.
@Mikey:
Damn straight. I'm one of the people on there making requests.
I also happen to be one of them.
And I also don't have a problem with dropping $10 per volume at the store. After all, it helps support keeping the books being sold at places like Barnes & Noble.
so I just realized how awesome it is to work for gamestop!!
no no guys… not cause I get to shlep games to rude jerkwads... no no
It's cause I get a 30% discount at Barnes and Noble!!
Just bought Volumes 26-29 for $29.85
damn it feels good to be a gangster
I still can't get vol32 from where I usually buy my manga, anybody else still having problems with vol32?
I still can't get vol32 from where I usually buy my manga, anybody else still having problems with vol32?
Right Stuf just sent me an order of manga and it was missing volume 32 ;p. I pre-ordered all of the speedup of One Piece when TRSI last held a Viz sale so it is strange that they got so few copies of volume 32 that it was back ordered for many people who pre-ordered.
at least they have an excuse. Before I found out about my discount at B&N, I was at my local Boarders looking for 26, 27, and 28 the other day last week (they're doing that deal where you buy 4 and get the 5th one for free), and they only had up to volume 22. So when I asked a manager, he looked them up and told me they were probably still in the back, packaged up, with "a ton of other stuff"… basically telling me,
"no, I'm too busy to really care about your business, even though the books have been out since the beginning of the month"
I was at Barnes and Noble last night... and their one piece section was completely stocked up to 33
I still can't get vol32 from where I usually buy my manga, anybody else still having problems with vol32?
I just picked 32 up at a B&N.
With my manga collection now up to date, as I finish Viz's version of Skypiea, I look back on it now with interest;
With this being the very first time I've read Skypiea in the manga, it was a very engaging arc, just like the Skypiea episodes I've seen were engaging. The Kalgara and Noland flashback was surprisingly engaging and touching (it was a lot better than I thought it was going to be.) And through it all, Kami did not detract from the experience. I know many people were upset and confused that they didn't just outright call him God Eneru, but the fact of the matter is that it doesn't change the story.
Well, with all that said, I raise my glass to Skypiea and head off to Water Seven!
Viz is getting tons of one piece related requests on their Facebook
Why don't they just make a forum? Thats what they do in Germany. We have a Request Thread and a question thread and a feedback thread. I think its useful and I wanted to join Viz Forums, but then I found out they didn't have any >_>. Well, except the Naruto Forum, but I don't wanna join that.
^true dat.
And the "Kami" doesn't bother me (despite the aforementioned SBS translation of God… guess there's no one to protect now)... but as Hypersock said... it didn't detract from the experience at all for me so far.
The only time i've felt that little pin-prick of dissatisfaction was with this line:
"People do not fear the Kami...
...fear IS the Kami"
It was followed by a chuckle

The moon.

With that said, where are my goddang volumes 29-33!?!?
No differences at all. Nice. The only minor thing is that I actually prefer Endless Varse to Fairy Vearth. What does Fairy Vearth even mean anyway?
Mistranslation, probably. It's supposed to be "Feari", meaning infinite.

Lol Viz said sexy.
Too bad about Fairy Vearth, but rather good job on those translations, Viz.
To be fair, "Fairy" is written in the Furigana, but "Endless" IS written in the Kanji.
They are in that awkward position of either keeping the Katakana and losing the meaning behind the Kanji, or retaining the meaning of the Kanji but losing the Furigana.
This is a much different scenario to when the Furigana means the exact same thing as the Kanji (Like Luffy's Pistol, Gatling, or Enel's "God")
This is two completely different words being presented. "Endless" and "Fairy"…
They did Screw up "Varse" though, the attached Kanji is for Earth, and "Aasu" is the Japanese transliteration of "Earth". (Oda added a V)
I spoke too soon! They came!!!!! Volumes 29-33 came!!!!!!!!
On the aforementioned topic, I think Endless Vearth would have sounded better, but it's no biggie.
intresting article on SJ.com about poison characters in Shonen series
http://shonenjump.viz.com/features/index.php?id=320
Heh. Endless Varse makes it seem Enel's on quite a different quest in the UK.
They caught up the all the updates over at the official site. The Skypiea saga section is a bit different.
http://onepiece.viz.com/sagas/skypiea/1/
And all 8 chapters from Volume one are up too.
I think its safe to say, ABOUT FLIPPIN TIME >.<
Well, better late than never. I see they've filled up the Water Seven and Thriller Bark slots. I wonder what the last one's going to be. Even the Japanese site hasn't gone past that.
there's a pretty big typo at the end of the skypiea part 3 summary, they reused text from the jaya portion.
nice design though. Cool update
how do the right stuf ship their manga. the only thing i dont like about buying online is the condition the book might ship in.
Picked up volumes 29-33 today at Borders (much better than last month where I had to wait a week for them to get them all in stock). Can't wait to start reading them :D
I hope I don't have to wait a week like last time either. That was due to snow conditions though & its not snowing now so…maybe ;)
But if I still can't find them on saturday, I'll have to wait until the upcoming holiday.
I wonder why they used Noro Noro on the site, but changed it in the manga… eh, no biggie.
Once again, I must ask, have there been any changes to the art in these last 5 volumes? Hopefully by the next set I won't have to ask this anymore (I'm re-reading the series right now, so even as I'm getting these volumes in I'm not actually reading them yet... only on 14 right now).
Doesn't look like I'll be able to pick up 29 - 33 for a while. I can't manage to get time to make it to the bookstore. I had a chance today, but that didn't really work out.
Hmmm guess I'll be picking up March and February's volumes simultaneously…kinda sucks though because I buy them in the store purpously so I can try to find the least damaged volumes...and after a month of being on the shelves, there are few, if any copies that someone hasn't bent by reading them in the store =/
And of course that means putting off buying 20th Century Boys, Pluto, etc.....oh well...I mean I won't walk up to the counter with that many volumes at once lol. I'll just go back a day or two later to pick up the rest of the volumes. I've never bought more than 7 or 8 books at once because of the weird looks you get from people XD...I MIGHT make an exception for OP 29 - 38 and just buy them all at once or go in two separate trips a day apart or so. Of course there's the possibility I just completely overanalyze this as I do every other minute thing lol. But yeah....
The local Borders I work at has volumes 29 and 31-33 all on the shelves (less copies of volume 32, for some reason)…However, we do not have volume 30 anywhere and, according to the online store locator, no Borders location within a 100 mile radius has volume 30 either.
I'm completely freaking baffled as to why Borders would ship out the other four volumes, but bar volume 30 specifically from being sold in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts. I live in the heart of New England, not out in the countryside dammit!
Just order your books off of RightStuf.com, it's like two bucks cheaper per volume, especially if you can't find them anywhere. You could also try Amazon, they've got 'em, but you won't be saving any money.

I get 30% off because I'm an employee at Borders (this comes out to be $6.99 per volume). If I were to order from someplace else, I'd be spending money I could be potentially saving.
And with the amount of money I make per week, I save where I can.
Alright, gotchya, that would make a lot more sense hahaha. Does Borders have an online store, they're a subsidiary of Barnes and Noble right? I think B&N works off of Amazon. Unless their dicks and don't allow you to use your discount online.

Well, Borders does have an online store, but I've still gotta figure out how to use the discount on it.
(And no, Borders isn't owned by Barnes & Noble…yet.)

Here, use this site, it gets codes uploaded very often. BTW, you have to put in a discount code in your cart before you buy, it's at the bottom.

Right? All my volumes have been shipped EXCEPT 32. It's on backorder, even though I preordered it a whole month ago. Maybe they should just wait or something…You just don't get the same feeling when you only get four. BTW,how much do you guys spend for a month's set of volumes? I pay about $35.00-$36.99 using online Borders. It's also a plus that I have a Borders card which when buying 5 OP volumes a month you get $5.00 off often. The only problem is it takes forever to ship. And now, I have four volumes being sent instead of one..
Also, miscellaneously, did anyone notice, on page 29 of volume 25, Shoujo is knuckle-walking?! Strangely, it's kinda cute in a way, even though he's "human".
Shoujo's 25, right? Is Masira younger, how old is he?
i have all of the volumes for this month now. also, i'm really looking forward to next months volumes & especially the covers for the volumes. i'd have to say that as a group those covers are probably my favorites.
I went to B&n today. Saw the volumes. Picked them up. Checked to see I did not pick up doubles. Picked up SJ and an issue of Knights of the Old Republic. Went to the counter. Looked through my wallet. Credit Card is not there.
This was a bigger facepalm to me than me buying doubles on one volume last month.
Gotta make the trip in the morning now… The worst part was not buying anything to eat to celebrate.

SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!!!
With this whole (speed-up/finally gaining popularity) thing, I kind of feel like Toto standing in that hole.
"You see? All it took was a few years. Just a few years!"
it's really nice to walk to the graphic novel/manga section of Barnes and Noble and see all the spine'd volumes of One Piece in order and looking wonderfully colorful. It'll definitely get the attention of people passing.

I'm in a similar boat. Grabbed every volume besides 32, which my local Chapters does not acknowledge the existence of.
Completely unrelated, but I saw 20th Century Boys in the shop today, but I wasn't sure yet so I'd thought I'd ask, how recommendable is this?

very very very recommendable!!!
@dirt:
lol this
It was a mystery hole, after all.
20th Century Boys IS incredibly awesome … for like the first half, and then it switches to his niece or whatever being the "lead", and I hate her so very much.
