I would like to add my complaint the Canadian dollar is almost at par with the US dollar yet at the bookstore I have to pay $12.99 for a book that is worth $9.99 in the states.
the last time this happened bookstores sold books at the American price but no word on that happening yet

Wow there is a lot of strong feeling in this thread on both sides of the debate.
To be honest it is quite depressing when a free scanlation done by a couple of random guys on the net provides a more consistant experience, than an official release from people who are paid to provide a quality product.I think that's all I really have to say on the matter, other than a deep regret that I wont be able to support viz, by buying any of their volumes. :sad:

Yeah, they're totally fine. Just a word to the wise, cross reference the ISBN on the Viz site against it if you're really unsure (since BD do offer original tankos and foreign language editions - nearly ordered a Spanish Bastard!! V.2 once)

Normally, I might get annoyed by this, but my little brother and step brother (9 and 10, respectively) have been watching the unedited DVDs with me for the past few months (they're in the middle of Arabasta) and the started playing Unlimited Adventure. My entire family saw the fight against Enel, and I got to hear him say, in English, the correct line. I couldn't care less what Viz thinks. Have fun raging off the hook everyone. In fact they thought it was better than "skylord" which I think is closer to "God," but that's just me… In fact, "Kami" is technically the closest thing to "God" out of all of them.

Kami does not translate into God! it more properly means divine spirit or some such thing but to say they should use God is wrong.
God is what we use to translate the Hebrew YHWH which is actually untranslatable as well since it is never pronounced
we could use El instead but why?
In case you didn't grasp it the crux of my argument is that God is a proper name as such cannot be used or you might as well put Zeus in there since he fires lightning bolts or better yet The Mighty Thor!
translation is a mug's game since no translation by definition can ever be right since in altering the language you must by the nature of the beast alter the context.
I don't see why it engenders such hatred from people here but to each his or her own. I prefer to hold the books in my hand as a read them as opposed to reading online. It is a comfort thing.
a really bad translation in my opinion is from the English version of the first Harry Potter book to the American one (note the language is even the same)
