@Buuhan1:
Sorry, I don't support art edits.
Fair enough, that's your right. However, I do think that you're a fool for not reading Dragon Ball simply because Viz shopped a bra onto Bulma's breasts in a few panels, or airbrushed the finger.
@Buuhan1:
We don't know, all we know is Viz is stupid. They continue to use 4kids terms probably cause of legal bullshit is just cause they want continuity (despite 4Piece is dead), and they are editing the art in Shonen Jump to remove cleavage, which I can't figure out why. They never had a problem with it before, this magazine is rated Teen, what's the big deal?!
Apparently they stopped the cleavage edit after one issue. Besides, that edit would never have carried over into the volumes anyway. But yes, it's basically because Viz thinks that continuity will help sell more volumes. But I think that in One Piece's case, it causes more harm then good, because the 4Kids anime and the Viz manga were catering to different demographics, and the Viz manga has lost the sales of angry scanlation-reading fans who refuse to buy anything with "Zolo" or "Tweet Tweet" printed in it.
I don't get the logic of it anyway. I always liked the uncut feel of Viz's Dragon Ball/Z as compared to the dubs (the different names, the more authentic move names, the cursing and blood, because I was at the age when I felt like such things mattered even a little, etc). And the Yu-gi-oh manga felt EXTREMELY cool uncut, since it had the original names (which felt cool to use when I was about 11), and new plots that I'd never seen in the anime. The fact that the manga felt more authentic to the story made me like reading it more. And I'm talking about when I was about 11-14, here, which is more or less Viz's target market.
And on the subject of "I won't buy the volumes until Viz stops using 4Kids terms", I realized something last night. The Naruto manga had corrupted terms too, in the beginning. Journeyman Ninja, Art of the Shadow Doppelganger, Art of the Ninja Centerfold, etc. Yet when the Naruto anime got popular around the Chunin exams, and that led to the manga becoming popular, Viz changed those terms to Chuunin and Shadow Clone Jutsu, etc. In other words, it was buying the manga and making it popular that made Viz realize that they could be getting even more sales if they marketed the manga as "uncut and authentic" and made it that way. Or it could just have been keeping continuity with the Naruto anime, which helped them, and has only hurt us.
