Are the Strawhats finally going to go on adventures again?

I have been thinking, maybe the most recent plot twist after Sabaody Archipelago is the end of the Strawhats getting hunted down for a while.

Remember what One Piece was like in the beginning? The Strawhats go to a new Island, find someone who needs help and interfere in the business of the local villain. It has been like this throughout the East Blue except for Logetown. Same thing happened after they defeated the puny bounty hunters in Whisky Peak, when they decided to help Vivi against the Baroque Works. The situation on Skypea when the sit at the campfire reunited after the ordeal and decide to go for the gold is kinda similar. Is all adventurous.

But this changes in the very moment a large but thin and tired looking man is coming out of the old mans tend on long ring long island. Aokiji. From that moment on the Strawhats where struggling, fighting for nothing but survival and persistence of their crew. Eversince they have not gone onto a single adventure. They where attacked by Aokiji, attacked by the CP9, attacked by Moria, and attacked by Kuma. Finally Camie was taken away and they little rescue mission got them attacked by Sentumaru, the Px's and Kizaru. Maybe the second crushing deafeat by an admiral can stop what the first one started. Its been so much survival fightings lately that I am thinking, it would be nice to see the Strawhats going on an adventure saga again. Let them have their fun. If they do, so we do.

I got no clue if Oda thinks the slightest bit like this but it is pretty much what I would do now. Trying to find someone at Lili Island shows Luffy some Haki could be a nice start. However it could turn out as to be a suvival fight vs Hancock just as well.

What do you think? How are the chances? Do you even want the adventures back or do you like the DBZ tour? By the way: some similarities to Dragonball, Dragonball Z and their respective rate of survival fight to adventure maybe no accident. Didn't make DBZ better if you ask me. ^^

Yeah, there will be plenty of time for that in the New World, since it is not really the strawhats going on "adventures" on purpose to begin with. They are trying to make it through the Grand Line, thus using the log post thing they have to go by island to island, and for the sake of plot each island has some story or person that needs helping, that will eventually contribute to the overall story. Plus we don't need to many adventures with the ones that might be planned for the future.

Actually the title adds a bit of extra-spice for me because in my motherlanguage "strawhead" means "dummy".

Besides the lulz though i don't really see how the hehe…strawhats could be able to sail all carefree over the grandline without having any trouble after all that happened (well, they most likely will sail all carefree over the grandline, but they also most likey will encounter more problems with the wg thus meeting strong enemies).

One piece is the only manga i ever read but…isn't that the general 'shonen' plot anyways? Just like a videogame, getting stronger and fighting enemies with increasing badass-ness?

i can't concentrate on reading your post dude, because of the strawheads I cant stop laughing. The reason why OP is on a survival whatever your saying right now is because they are about to reach the new world. Oda is like putting them on a test if they can survive the new world.

Thats nice for sure but hes testing them for 4 years now. That a lot longer than the average shonen manga runs in a whole. Isn't that enough testing now?

Ps. Don't laugh about the poor strawheads. It's not like its their fault. :ninja:

Long story short: It starts as an advventure series and becomes a survival game when the mangaka has no more ideas for adventures ^^

Of course its not alway like this so yes -Spam me with counter examples ppl.

then ok i apologize about laughing at that mistake. CP9 arc isn't a survival battle, they try to rescue robin-chan and then the same thing with moria, they fought w/ moria so that they can take back their shadows.

They never really stopped, the formula has been the same since the beginning, the scale has simply changed.

Oda if anything, is one of the the most formulaic writers in JUMP today. There are actually very few basic variables that change from arc to arc in terms of how the SH's are introduced to the island's culture, encounter people and react with villains.

The overall BW saga from start to finish was quite different however, and W7/EL while different in the fact that it was continuous, still shared many similarities with previous disembarkations.

Even on Sabaody I was thinking to myself, "Okay, this is the part where Luffy is interested in local culture. This is the part where villains are introduced." etc.

So rather than will they go on adventures again, I think they'll continue to do so after they regroup.

Thriller Bark looked like an Adveture arc to me, Water 7 somewhat as well before CP9 showed up.

Drum Island: Adventure; Help save the Kingdom.
Alabasta: Adventure; Help save the Kingdom.
Jaya: Adventure; Help Cricket with miscellaneous things.

Davy Back: Adventure; Help save a wounded horse.
~~CP9 Arc~~: Repair/Replace ship; Non-Adventure, rescue Robin.

Note that I am using "adventure" very loosely to simply show the similarities in what basically happens, while also showing that they are not simply being hunted down by the Marines or trying to stay together or alive. They got themselves into major trouble on the Archipelago, but up until that point it was very much an adventure. Thriller Barque definitely started off as an adventure.

Seriously speaking is there anywhere I can get some info on the Emerald city as it pertains to pirate or some type of treasure? I haven't heard of it….........I think..... other than the Wizard of Oz.

Or did Oda just make that up in some foreshadowing attempt? I ready a lot of fiction when it comes to stuff like this and I got nothing.

Wait a min how the fuck does Bellamy know anything about the Wizard of Oz? Maybe I shouldn't haven't inquired but all I am finding on it is the Oz crap which I've seen already and read some of the books. Is just finding the city some sort of goal worth reaching? Also I wouldn't doubt him but why would Oda just implement some WoOz place in to the story?

OP is the purpose of the manga and The Lost City of Gold was once wildly believed to exist in real life but The Emerald City? I'm not complaining just wondering if there's some mythos/legends or wild stories in general behind it that's not Oz.

Real World-wise, There is nothing that I know of in the way of legends or myths concerning an Emerald City. However, the original story 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz' is over 100 years old. Since the book's copyright expired before copyright law extended the amount of time it could be retained, the book is public domain, and is thus equivalent to a folk tale, being owned by no one and hailing from antiquity.

Odaverse-wise, the closest thing I know of is Erumalu, the "Green City". Since it was a desert waste when the Strawhats visited it, and since Jaya can be reached from Alabasta, it's possible that Bellamy was referring to that.

Personally, I don't think he meant Erumalu.

So, maybe someday there will be a chapter called "Adventure in the Emerald City"; but I won't hold my breath.

…I think the "survival games" REALLY started with that infamous line from Spandam: "DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU JUST DID? YOU JUST DECLARED WAR ON THE ENTIRE WORLD!"

They're still feeling the repurcussions of that. Their bounties are waay high, and they've declared war on the world. They're gonna be pursued, and bigger people are going to try to take them down. Once they become stronger, though, they should be more able to ignore it, once they become more powerful, since this arc should make them more powerful.

If you know what I mean. Sorry if this sounds weird; I was interrupted mid-post three times. I still don't konw if I got more than one complete thought out. XD

i'm not in the mood to read a lot but yes, they will be going on adventures soon enough again. the next adventure island is most likely mermen island where the wg and marines aren't involved that much or probably are even banned from. the reason the strawhead… (man that really is funny!) were hunted that badly up until now is because they were closing in on the marine hq which are the ones that are most interested in capturing/killing them. but i think the influence of the WG/marines will cease the further they reach in the new world and from there on out there will be more adventures again as well as rivalry among the pirate crews.
