Concerning the staff, 990 will be the most action packed so it makes sense to have those 2 as ADs, i wasn't expectng 2 series directors in a row tho. This is Nagamine's first time on the director seat since episode 934 (Zoro vs Kamazo).

Where are the credits for the openings/endings themselves usually placed? Do magazines credit upcoming opening staff members?

Right after the cast credits, but for some reason only on the episode the opening debuts on, and Toei didn't share opening credits at all until One Day.

That is so weird. Why would you not want to credit the work of your employees? What about EDs?

It's a mixture of a various number of things. For Toei Animation and Fuji TV they have a vested interested in not wanting to give credence to their employs. Sometimes staff don't want to be credited, either (although that is likely not the issue for those early Opening and Ending animation). At NHK they force studios to reduce the number of credited staff because they're just fucking assholes and don't want to credit 'too many' people.

1013 immediately grabs my attention because that's the same duo behind episode 850 which was really good and one of my personal favorites from that arc.
As for Thurlow's tweet, keeping things within the realm of plausibility (somewhat) something like Ishitani + Masami Mori AD would certainly make me go faint.

I know everyone's been committed to the idea of Ishitani doing the rooftop episodes since forever but I was secretly hoping she'd get to do the zoan reveals from 998 since she has an interest in paleontology.

Thurlow also posted today that because of the break, only two episodes were revealed, and that we should be looking forward to the next set also.

An episode with both Ishitani and Mori in positions of directorship is absolutely something to be excited about. I have no inkling of what'll come next, but Thurlow has hyped his upcoming work as being some of the best of his career, and I would be shocked if Nagamine himself didn't direct one of the upcoming episodes.
