Crossword, could you show us again the screenshots of each Straw Hat done by the current Animation Directors? I can't find it in this thread.

Who did Nami's bath scene in the TBA? and yes, I meant the full version.

Right here. Once the anime passes chapter 597 I'm going to start working on a new version.

Naoki Murakami did that episode (I never took caps for him since he had already left the show by the time I started), so probably him.
-
Thank you…
I wanna see Kawamura draw the rest of the Straw Hats. I Love her art work.
-
How come most of the art and animation (not sure about animation) for Naruto Shippuden looks better than One Piece's? Higher budget?

That's the gist of it. Toei's always been notoriously cheap and now we're just in a rougher patch than we usually are.
-
I love the Anime, much better then manga, imo, and i hope they will change fishman arc or make it better (BORING )..
-
I actually feel that the quality of the average episode has gone up.
I hope that it stays that way.

well for the current arc anyway. it could always go back if they wanted to, and will
-
This is what Tomita was busy with during the War.
-
Ah, yeah, that is Tomita's work. It's nice to finally have a name to put to that animator. :p Hopefully after Xros Wars ends he'll return to the rotation. Speaking of which, despite having Tomita this series still have numerous big battles turn into still shots! >_<
-
Whoa, Digimon started up a new season or something? :/
I didn't know that..

That would be kind of sad.

Overused still shots are just terrible, but Toei seems to like using them.

That's Toei for ya! so it's expected to see repeated and still shots.
I don't know why, but while I like Tomita, I somehow didn't enjoy most of his work on Digimon. I only found the starting of the MAD to be impressive.

You never would have survived if you had watched the Rockman.EXE anime starting from Axess onward back in the day where like 85% of the battles played out like that, courtesy of Masayuki Nomoto doing what felt like every single episode.

That maybe an issue of fewer key animators and in-betweens to work with him, as opposed to when he worked on One Piece. At least, it's easier to blame it all on the economy. :(

I'll probably watch some just for laughs and to test my tolerance.

So no Tate, good month to me.
-
Hm, Usopp and Robin seem to be conspicuously absent (unless ''fuyushima'' is referring to Robin's case and not Franky's).
Looks alright, mostly. Now let's see if Yokoyama's Zoro is still stuck in East Blue or not.
-
Well, Tate can still show up for #510. :p That aside, this should cover up to chapter #592, at the least.
-
Thank you eliman.
Minor manga spoilers.
! So does it look like each straw hat is going to get a whole episode? I'm thinking 508 is Nami and 509 is Zoro, but what is this Fuyushima?
-
Fuyu-shima = winter island.
-
Episode 507 seems like it might cover the first half of Chapter 591.
-
! It is kind of confusing. Zoro will appear in 506, and in 509 again…
I want to see Sanji! -
I don't know, I'm confused. I have no idea what they are covering, and I really don't want to check the Manga, cause I forgot most of it, and I want to keep it a little bit fresh in the anime.
Inoue is still working, Well. Hoping for Shida to work on 509 if there is any filler action. Also, I don't see Robin in the titles, so still hoping for Tate in the next batch.
-
So if Inoue does the storyboard in 509 only and it's directed by Yokoyama, we really won't see Inoue's style show up at all, right?

Aside from general framing, not really. Unless he does some key animation himself, it's Yokoyama taking Inoue's shots and doing his best with them.
-
I see. Well, it will be interesting to see if he can do a decent Zoro now, since all his episodes have increased in quality since the War started.
-
I can't get over Nami looking like a man in the opening.
-
I don't know, I'm confused. I have no idea what they are covering
I don't know either. We all thought 506 would be Zoro and Chopper-only, but seeing the full schedule, now it feels like it's gonna feature all the Strawhats, otherwise it wouldn't make much sense for an one-shot filler.
It's not very Toei-ish, but maybe they were being secretive with the preview. -
-
Explain .
-
What are you talking about? She looks perfectly fine.
She doesn't look manly at all. -
As a Nami lover, she looks ok but Oda's depiction will always be superior.
-
Dude I think she has a manly aura in that pic. I don't know why but the shoulder and the way her face is depicted is yelling man to me. Maybe it's the way her mouth is open or something.
-
No matter what angle I look at it from, I'm not getting any sort of manly vibe from it.
I guess you guys may have a different concept of manliness than I do.
-
I think the way her shoulder is jutted out makes her back look broad. And her smile isn't as feminine as it usually is.
-
^ That's exactly it. I think her face is a little too wide too. She just looks.. husky
-
-
A Tate MAD, it shows some of his dragonball stuff as well.
@goty, weird. Toei are known for spoiling stuff, but recently they have been trying to cover up some stuff.

I think I live in Bizzaro world, because I cannot understand how Naoki Tate is more highly regarded than Kenji Yokoyama.
"Fluid Action Scenes" aren't everything in an anime, you have to at least resemble the original work, not of the abomination that is the scene of Robin and Ussop in the last episode.
-
Blah blah blah
-
-
^bleh bah blu. Blababakinu blah!? Bleh!
..Anyway
…
Thanks Murad. I think I have seen several of those scenes in the last Tate MAD. In fact, most of them actually. It's a shame he's been inactive over the years. Does he work on other animated series/movies too?
-
C'mon man, if you were going to play that game you could have at least chosen Kawamura or Nakatani instead of Yokoyama.
That video reminds me that I need to get around to finishing Casshern SINs one of these days.
-
Hey guys. I am not really new to One Piece, but I haven't watched the anime past Thriller Bark. I have noticed that I keep hearing users talk about an animator named Tate a lot. Can anyone give me info about him and how he has decreased the quality of the anime?
Is he the lead animation director to the anime now?
Is he on and off?
Is he who is given the job when Toei has a low budget for an episode?
As an OP fan, is there other animation people who are part of the show I should know about, because before hearing of Tate, I knew of none.
Personally, I always like the animation during Arabasta, but I know that Oda's drawing style has changed a little bit since then. But, I like how Water 7 looked.
Does the animation later in the Whitebeard War saga get that much worse? Or does it vary?
It just makes me worried because as an avid OP viewer I don't like hearing that the anime is getting worse and I keep reading that Tate is a reason why.
-
Well, I'm no expert, but as far as I know Tate is one of the best animators who have worked on One Piece, it's just that his art can be bad at times. Unfortunately, he didn't work on the Marineford arc except for some scenes in Opening 13 and Luffy and co.'s entrance in Marineford. Let me show you some of his work so judge it for yourself, OK:
Oh, he also did one scene during Luffy's flashback, now that I think about it.
