I wonder if Jump and or Oda, himself, would be interested in the knowledge that there is such an extensive archive of his comments in existance? Even if your sand scuptures get ignored, I bet that would get published!
Actually, although this is a bit vain, there's a part of me that believes I might actually be blacklisted.
I've posted multiple videos of the man on a major media network and I don't make any secret about hiding my identity or name.
For shits and giggles, here's my entire history with trying to get in the SBS.
2003-
In August sent him a care package from the US that included a black and white poster of Goku and Luffy together smiling for the Usopp Gallery including a copy of the Beckett Anime Collector with the One Piece articles I wrote AND a lengthy Japanese letter expressing my thanks for the series, how it inspired me and a plethora of questions INCLUDING THE NATIONALITY QUESTION YEARS BEFORE HE ADDRESSED IT WITH FINALITY.
I was certain something in tha package would get his attention. But no.
It crushed me and I didn't send anything again until 2007.
2007-
Sand art. I printed out my entire series of sculptures of the whole crew (at that point) and sent them to him.
Pirates.
Summer.
Beach.
Sand.
Hours of work.
What more perfect?
Nope. Completely ignored. Again I was crushed. The nail in the coffin was when some asshole doodled Sanji in the sand with a stick and it got in. Seriously, take a look.
2008-
I decided to go for a different (ie. idiotic) approach since he loves that stuff.
I drew a picture of him as the fish contemplating who the winner would be. Below him was Sanji from onboard Sunny at Sabaody with his katakana-English line, "IT'S ME!", complete with Usopp beside him saying, "Even foreigners have you wrapped around their fingertips."
I figured this was surefire. Showed it to the OP fans at school and they thought it was hilarious.
Ignored.
2009-
Decided that Chopper was the route to take. Since Chopper's goddamn everywhere it had to work right? So I made a huge sand Chopperman.
Ignored.
And to drive the nail in deeper, the tank I was hoping it would be in had not one but TWO shitty Chopper sculptures.
2010-
I was so used to failure at that point that it idn't phase me and I wrote two INCREDIBLE SBS letters.
One was a deep question that was posed as a stupid question. In it I asked if since one in X amount of people had Haoushoku and X people participated in the Alabasta war, I picked some random weakass background dude with a turban and mustache and knowingly said, "It's this guy isn't it Oda? You can't pull that kind of stuff over me." While I was expecting a, "Yes of course….NO WAY!", response, I was hoping he might suggest that it was an interesting observation though.
Ignored.
When searching for mistakes I found Anpan'woman' on Kuja. Since Oda said he was going to have an interview with Anpanman's author for EAGLE I figured it was AN AWWWWESOME time to point it out ALONG with Anpanman showing up in a WANTED story.
Ignored.
I just sent him my Ace sand art to be ignored again.
I don't think I have the best or greatest ideas. But I think a lot of them are RIGHT up Oda's alley. I'm starting to wonder if it isn't a coincidence that each and every goddamn time they reject it.
Every time the douche at the SBS branch sees 'Greg from Fukui' I wonder if it goes in the trash.
