They already explained what the Meteor Garlic is. It grows where meteors have fallen and stuff. They mentioned it back at the beginning of the arc.
Yeah, I know, I'm just saying, perhaps since satellites can track where all the meteors have fallen in the Human World, all the current Meteor Garlic has been claimed. But if the Toriko world's moon is anything like Earth's moon, it probably gets smacked with hundreds of meteors daily. I doubt this will happen, but it would be kind of fun for them to go to the moon for a short arc with some space ingredients.

what the hell are you on about
Livebearer was originally going to let the machine pick, sort and shuffle the cards. It creates a "set" by randomly selecting ingredients from a specified category, as seen here:
!
However, Match wisely demanded to be allowed to pick the cards in the set, as seen here:
!
So, assuming he was able to pick each individual card that goes into the set they will use (which I think is implied) then that means he decided "hey poison potato, sounds like a good thing I sure hope this doesn't backfire". I guess it's possible that all he did was pick which pre-made deck to use, in which case including dangerous ingredients is unavoidable, but then what's the point of the giant sorting machine if all it does is just have a record of a bunch of pre-made decks?

Livebearer loves big, pointles things with flashy lights on them.
Why do you think there's a seperate control panel for every individual card level ? Just so he can make it bigger.

I really like this one shot… well, from what I see. Do you think the Gourmet Hunting Book is in Kinokuniya?
Edit: Forgot to say thank you for sharing the one shot!!

How does he manage to make Livebearer's face creepier and creepier? Last chapter featuring him is gonna have to have warnings for pregnant women, children and the elderly to take precautions while reading lol.

Some of Livebearer's face really reminded me of Grinparch in this chapter. Anyone else think there's some resemblance?
-
Man this arc would be amazing if the pacing was better. So much wasted potential. I'm still enjoying it but damn, if Shimabukuro would just take a couple of weeks longer with it, it'd be so much better.

In making creepy rape face? I guess they have…

Mentioned that last week I think, in relation to his slobbering.
Anyways, thanks man. Really good chapter. But I am a bit saddened by the Wisdom Panda`s demise :(
-
Interesting. What's making me really curious is how Coco is planning to handle the situation. I'm guessing there's an ingredient that doesn't go well with the Summer Whiskey, that's why he gave it to Livebearer. The last Joker card will be used to give that ingredient for Livebearer to eat.. I think I'm gonna google a bit to see if theres a hint on what that ingredient might be.
Or I can be wrong and Coco is actually planning to win this by getting higher points

Yeah, that surprised face and the one where he was drinking, i can clearly remember those two as Griparch's.

The whiskey was probably to buy time. He was concerned about buying extra time for Toriko in this chapter, so he probably knew that Livebearer would take his time with the whiskey, thus giving Toriko an extra 40 minutes of recovery time.
-
So after this 5 ingredients remain. The 3 dangerous beasts, the lightning shaped fruit or vegetable and the poison potato. So whoever gets that, loses. Also, thanks Kewl.

I doubt that it was just to buy time, Coco seems to have a definite plan on winning this game. Either by gaining higher score or forcing Livebearer to concede. (or both, gaining a higher score so Livebearer will be forced to hit a card and take whatever poisonous ingredient left).
Anyway, here's something I did with my spare time. I think we can get a better perspective on how things will play out with it
! | ToriCocoMatsu | | |
| - Cherringo | 10 | |
| - Smashroom | 20 | |
| - Watermelon Clam | 10 | |
| - Pudding Mountain | 150 | |
| - Summer Whiskey | 50 | (traded out) |
| - Bullet Acorn | 70 | |
| - Atlas Crab | 30 | |
| - Wisdom Panda | 250 | (joker) |
| - Garlic Crab | 200 | (traded in) |
| - Dynamidragonfly | 30 | |
| - Troll Cheese | 10 | |
| - Nitro Cherry | 10 | (joker) |
| Total | 840 | |
| | | |
| Livebearer | | |
| - Sausage Worm | 50 | |
| - Trumpet Mushroom | 70 | |
| - Melon Egg | 100 | |

| - Garlic Crab | 200 | (traded out) |

| - Numblemon | 200 | |
| - Taste Ant | 40 | |
| - Bubble Fruit | 20 | |
| - Gold Shrimp | 200 | |
| - Summer Whiskey | 50 | (traded in) |
| Total : | 1240 | |
| | | |
| Table | | |
| - Electric Banana | 180 | |
| - Rock Lizard | 50 | |
| - Poison Potato | 10 | |
| - Sea Urchin Rat | 10 | |
| - Caesar Snake | 10 | |
| Total | 260 | |So with Nitro Cherry, they would have a 400 score difference. Assuming they take another 200 point ingredient their score would be at 1040. But everything depends on what they give to Livebearer to get that 200 point. Out of all the remaining ingredients, why did Coco pick the cheese? I'm just guessing, but prolly the cheese would have a certain reaction when mixed with alcohol and some other ingredient (which Livebearer ate in one of his cards).

Thanks for the summary, it sure clears things up.
Any ideas on why did Livebearer avoid the Dynamidragonfly? it can't recall anything said about it being a miss card or even a really difficult ingredient!
-
Well, I guess he didn't want to take unnecessary risk, or he just like to toy with his food
-edit-
I did some calculations, if assuming they take a 200 pts card and give Livebearer a 10 pts card. The score would be 1040 - 1250. With 210 pts behind and 260 pts left on the table. They would have to take the narcotic ingredient (the banana), plus its Livebearer's turn and he only need to take the 50 pts card and its over.So basically yeah, Coco intends to win by making Livebearer concede. I'm still betting that the key is in the ingredient's combination. Summer Whiskey, the one they are going to trade next, and another one Livebearer's already eaten before.
-
Do you think it's possible that after Komatsu successfully prepare the nitro cherry (or due to sheer dumb luck, Toriko pops it into his mouth and it doesn't explode), they will trade the nitro cherry and force him to decline? Assuming that he doesn't know how to prepare it…
-
Livebearer's cooking skills are top notch, so I would assume he could. I'm guessing Ponx's theory of mixing two ingredients is correct, but who knows.
And I'm also seeing the Grinpatch in Livebearer. Doesn't bother me that much, even if it's not intentional, given Toriko's characters to have some habit of looking somewhat similar.
-
I'm curious why the garlic crab was so high a point total… It's a crab... of garlic. That doesn't seem like a particularly hard catch. Either it must be really rare, or have a really pungent Garlic smell that most people can't stand.
Anyway, I think that after doing the Nitro Cherry, they'll probably give Livebearer the Smashroom. Mushrooms inhibit the ability to break down Alcohol, so they could easily use that to mess Livebearer up and force a win.
-
Interesting thing about the mushroom, didn't even know that. Due to what kind of inhibitor? Just curious.
Also, the Garlic Crab was one of the "big hit" ingredients, just like there were "big miss" cards.
Hm, I really enjoy Toriko, it manages to always keep me interested in the next chapter. -

The toxin is coprine, and it inhibits aldehyde dehydrogenase, which breaks down alcohol.
-
The similarity with Grinparch must be lips+eyes when he drank whiskey. And I like how Livebearer switched from distorted faces to doll faces in this chapter.
-
Oh, one thing I forgot to mention.
Was no one else freaked out by the Human-Faced King Trumpet Mushroom ?
-
Totally freaked me out too.

I think it was the opposite of the nitro cherry or the poison potato, where it's really difficult to cook but has a low point total. The points aren't necessarily based on how difficult something is to find, catch, or prepare, like the levels usually are.

Lobster with garlic batter/garlic sauce is really good…so it's like crab+garlic=naturally good? :ninja: jkjk
About the smashroom, didn't he just eat those cabbages that increases alcohol metabolism? Why would it be important to eat that mushroom?
-
Wisdom Panda getting its ass kicked…this chapter would cause an uproar in China! XD
-
About the smashroom, didn't he just eat those cabbages that increases alcohol metabolism? Why would it be important to eat that mushroom?
As I stated above, some mushrooms contain a toxin called coprine, which inhibits aldehyde dehydrogenase, which breaks down alcohol. Basically, if you eat mushrooms with booze, you get the hangover from hell almost immediately.
-
Damn that scene of Teppei owning Tommy was done awesomely, the background music made it even more epic :D

Are we going to get scans of the Saikyou Jump special that came out on Saturday at some point?
I hope so, since I'd like to see it even if it's not translated for a while.
-
Seeing the episode made me think of somethings I didn't realize intill now:
I think Teppei is strong enough to enter the Gourmet World. His breath didnt turn white(showing cell adaptation) and he didn't even need a thermal suit.
And even though he did beat up a half dead Tommy,I think even a healthy full-powered Tommy would be able to fight pretty evenly with Teppei.
The fact that Toiko wa able to dish so much damage to Tommy shouldnt show Tommy is weak.It just shows that Toriko's jewel-meat evolved attacks are still plenty strong in close combat. And Jiro even said, that Toriko has the 'attacks' down, but not the adaptation, which is required to enter the GW.So it's kinda misleading.
And Setsuo is still stronger then Alfado.Even though his adaptation is better, her attacks are stronger then him.
Also,I like how if you look carefully,Tommy never had the white breath. It's a cool detail that's brought up later in the story that's pretty significant

Would be kind of funny if it was like the poisonous Gyoza Buns that I-Pin has in Reborn, though…But I love garlic, and I love crab (even though I'm very mildly allergic to it), so Garlic Crab would sound awesome.</d<>

For the anime, does anyone know where to get screen captures in HD,like you guys do for the One Piece episodes? Cause there are some scenes coming up that I must have:
Alfaro vs the hellros/Parasite emperor
Alfaro vs Sestuno
Alfaro presenting the century soup to Midora.
I'm a huge Alfaro fan. He's my favorite bishokukai and overall favorite character

And I like how Tommy even comments that shivering for warmth is 'childish'.Basically what I'm saying is tgat alot of people think the Kings are weak and pathetic compared to the 0 biotope guys, and therefore, low tiers.I don't think the disparity is as huge as everyone makes it out to be.The Kings have amazing attacks, and can damage sous chefs. They are rapidly powering-up their attacks and working on their adaptation so they can easily survive the GW.

They're from the 2ch website, but I wouldn't go searching through the sites pages since there are links to some Japanese porno sites, or articles that have gross pictures from stories that wouldn't be acceptable to show in articles in the US. Believe me I made the mistake once.
