I'm pretty damn disappointed with this. I thought we had hit a low point with Jungle P but no, things just got worse. That was an unimaginative remix with lackluster visuals save for maybe the Merry scene and the Oz one. Too bad it'll probably last all year like the last couple.
New One Piece OP Oct. 4 "We Are" BACK!!!
-
-
i love the background beat specially at like 1:02 to 1:05 i think
reminds me of a new school We Are mixed with like some sega genesis music
-
It's not TERRIBLE, just not as awsome as I wanted it to be.
-
The remixed version of We Are sounds good. Also, liked the animation for the opening. I think the best part of the opening was where it flashes all of the previous villains.
-
Hoshit guys, look who it is! ME!
Yeah, I haven't read or watched or had ANYTHING to do with One Piece since last September. It was simply a massive change of fandom, but I'm gonna try and catch up on the last 50 or so chapters tomorrow or something.
So anywho, I was checking out the LJ community for my favorite band, and saw something about them singing a 'new' theme song for One Piece. Lots of flailing happened on my part.
Anywho, the band's name is Dong Bong Shin Ki, known in Japan as Tohoshinki (they also go by multiple acronyms such as DBSK, THSK, and TVXQ). They're a 5 member boyband from Korea, but have a large following in Japan, having topped the Oricon Chart with their last 3 Japanese singles. Go Wikipedia TVXQ if you wanna know more.
But yeah, favorite band + once favorite anime = epic happiness and nostolgia for me.
-
My… There's so much hate for the new opening! I happen to love it, because it's so nostalgic. Not just because of the cover of 'We Are!,' but the images of many characters, friend AND foe, from the past.
Sail on, Merry. Sail on.
Oh, and the face-off between Oz and Luffy was pretty sweet.
-
I agree that Luffy's smile was ugly…
-
Here's the HQ version of the opening uploaded on Youtube.

Ah, so it's them? Same band from the ending 17, "Asa wa kuru kara".
-
The new OP is alright with me. The artist is fine but the music is kind of… different, reminds me of some very old game music . It got some retro feel on it, it is kind of nostalgic with those char/scenes montage on the opening. Ah well, the OP has already grown into me. Well I also hope, this is just a tribute to 10 years of One Piece and after TB arc is done, we may finally get a new OP
EDIT: it actually sounded better when I watched the version encoded by crossbones lol.
EDIT2: ah so the artist is DBSK. Kinda popular boyband group in Jp/Kr -
The visuals were decent although there's a lot I would have changed. The song on the other hand didn't do a thing for me which is disappointing because We Are is my favorite intro song.
-
Certain parts were alright but the remix of this was awful :/ Oh well just hope it doesnt stay for a whole year. The better remix is the Live Acoustic Version of the song.
-
I thought the opening was okay. Though the lack of animation in the opening and the strange focus on Luffy vs Odz makes me think that it won't last long. Of course Toei could surprise me and actually update the opening over time :O
-
Another HQ version
-
Haha Do I dare ask for an mp3 rip of the song?
-
The song was ok….
-
I think this song's a rather good song but doesn't fit to be an One Piece OP, it doesn't give me this strong and energetic feeling I had with the other OPs. Probably the artists' voices are more suitable with lighter songs like Asu wa Kurukara (which they did good).
I was disappointed at first but now after replaying I guess it's not that bad. Still hoping this is a temporary thing.
-
I thought it was good. I was sorta taken aback by it at first, but after repeated listenings, I grew to like it a lot. My only REAL gripe is that the damn length with the extra verse ruins it for me.
-
The songs not bad at all, i like the new remake.. Visually it's okay, shows so many stuff that have already happened in One Piece (even Vivi lol). I can't see it staying for long.. most likely for the rest of Thriller Bark, or even the fillers too.
-
So, anyone word on when we're getting the single?

Crossbones at KF forums uploaded a HQ video of the opening.
I like the singing, not so much the music…at all.I'm sorry but when I tried to open this in Media Player, there's only the audio/sound,but no video at all.I tried to open it with Quicktime but it's very slow and full of glitches.
-
HQ WS! thanks CB!!!
this opening is really cool!

Try using GOM Player. It's what I use to watch .mp4 video clips.

…I don't like this opening.
I don't like the remix (sounds like crap), I don't like the length (terrible loop), and WHY WASN'T BROOK IN THE CREW?!
Yeah...I haven't really liked the anime since the end of Skypiea. For the current stuff, the last full episode I watched was the one where Luffy's shadow got taken away.
-

http://www.gomlab.com/eng/Thanks a lot,but I usually don't download an mp4 video so often(usually I downloaded it in flv or avi,not to mention I never download a video that much anyways).
It could better if someone upload the HQ OP in avi format. -
looks like you need to upgrade to CCCP
-

Also, the GOM player works with other formats besides .mp4 like .avi. Anyway, I wish I knew how to change .mp4 videos to .avi.
-
prism video converter does that
-
Nothing special about it. The song wasn't terrible, but being a big fan of the original "We Are!," it just doesn't have anything close to the energy that the original did. Jungle P was a very energetic opener, while this feels more like an ending. I thought that little electro beat was pretty bad.
Also, I'm actually surprised that they didn't even include Brook with the crew. Makes me think this opening isn't going to last too long.
-
Heh. It's really starting to grow on me. It's a very… "interesting" mix of the song; charming in its own way.
-
One of the things I actually liked was that they showed quick stills of the villains like the first "We Are" did. I kinda wished they showed them fighting on the Sunny similar to how they showed Zoro, Sanji, Usopp, and Nami fighting those random pirates.
-
The We Are remix is awesome but i wish they show more Brook and Supernovas
-
Well,I decided to dl the GOMplayer, and I gotta say it's really good. The opening really looks beter in HQ.
-
It's not awesome, but it's not terrible. An interesting remix to say the least.
Not even close to the greatness of the original.
-
I think that was the best out of the longer openings.
Best things about it :
The flashes of the villains, adding Lucci and Enel was a pretty cool touch.
Luffy going gear 2nd with the crew surrounding himBad things :
One minute of running
No future events
Vivi
Brooke just getting a closeup
The Shichibukai need to be shown as one or all individually, because Kuma is a much bigger deal now, meanwhile Doflamingo has done shitI hope in OP10 we get all the Shichibukai shown at once, because most likely by then we'll have
! seen all of them because the Marineford war will probably be the next major event by the time we're ready for a new opening
-
Haha No MP3 yet? My One Piece Playlist will have to wait.
-
The opening was decent, I don't see why people are complaining , there was no spoiler in it and it's a good thing , not all the openings got to spoil about future characters or battle.
I liked the nostalgic feeling of this OP , so much happened since the original we are and the song pretty much covered most of the past characters.
-
Personally, I think some of you are overacting. Yes, this may not the greatest remix of We Are but remember IT COULD OF BEEN WORSE. They could of aired the 4kids One Piece rap with BRAND NEW ANIMATION.
While the animation of opening is boring for the first minute and more refrences to the original could of been made, the last minute was good. Also, I believe once an HQ version with better sound quality is up, the opening will be slightly better.
Waiting
-
I'll wager a guess that we're getting a filler arc after Thriller Bark (if it wasn't already obvious) from this.
-
Goddamnit toei
We are is just one of those songs that simply can’t be modernised, it’s supposed to be cheesy and energetic.
I thought they would have learned this lesson from the Cha la head cha la remixes but nope.I don’t see why toei would remake the first opening as if it was a celebration of how far the series has come and simply half ass it for the song, the animation and scenes.
It’s almost as if they want to turn the intro into another dime a dozen anime opening.
I mean did Luffy even stretch? In my opinion this is the worst opening
-
oh my…i think the new "we are" is not good...i prefer the old one :D
-
It's not bad, not great, but good. It could have been better if the background music was a bit more upbeat. At times it felt like it was, but it just tones down. It does seem appropriate for the following events though. Moria, Brook flashback and up until the supernovas are revealed.

Sorry but nothing can beat Crazy Rainbow Star.

Sorry but nothing can beat Crazy Rainbow Star.
Yeah i don't know how one can say this is the worst opening when we had "hey look the crew is shopping lolol crazy crazy rainbow star!!"
Anyway, it's funny how most people are saying now that Jungle P was energetic, i remember it received similar criticisms back then. Not that i disagree though. -
One of the worst OP OPs I've ever seen, worse than even FUNimation's English dub of "We Are!". Sure, it's hard to top the original…but the whole crew We Are! was on the same level. NO MORE J-POP BANDS SERIOUSLY MUSIC WAS BETTER WHEN OPs WEREN'T PROMOTIONAL VEHICLES. -_-
...
The only beef I have with "Crazy Crazy Rainbow Star" is it stopped the practice of highlighting current/future events in the OP openings in favour of scenes depicting the crew doing something recreational. There were a few shots in OP 8 about Thriller Bark but in total they were only 10 seconds long, compared to OP 6 that's nothing.
Kokoro no Chizu cannot be beat.
-
who is the singer anyway? still kitadani hiroshi?

Brand New World already did.
-
Actually, when you think about it…the only two really spoilerish openings OP had were Kokoro no Chizu and Brand New World..at the most, some of the previous ones flashed face shots of future villains and that was it.
Sure Robin was in Hikari E, but that was all about the crew sailing. -
Sorry but nothing can beat Crazy Rainbow Star.
This has.
I know, I couldn’t believe it myself. The straw hats doing something as opposed to doing nothing but running through stills in-between stills, stills and more stills… and CG boats.
Sure the lyrics of We Are will always be better than the crap spouted by Tackey and Tsubasa but it actually losses points on the principle that it turned a good song into a bad one, a very bad one.
I would have liked it if Toei had the balls to pull this off
First Japanese opening of Pokemon,
It’s super cheesy and gets you pumped for the episode.
Here’s a later opening using the lyrics from that and another opening.
A Symphonic rendition of We Are would have been much, much, MUCH better than what we got and it would have set up the whole entry into the new world factor quite nicely.
But it seems Toei wants to play it safe, a strange decision for an animation company animating the adventures of a boy who stretches like rubber. I mean seriously, they took more risks when the show was finding its audience than it does now.
