What would you think if they would make a RPG-game about the official story…
You have to went with Luffy like in OP and you will met all crew-members and will play the story.
A bit like Final Fantasy with original animated sequences.
And the fillers and movies could be hidden bonus adventures

I'm playing one right now on Gameboy (Color). It's called Yume no Luffy Kaizoku sumthin sumthin. It's pretty much exactly what you described.
The odds of them making a game like that on a modern system, with an English release, seem pretty slim though.
As a game maker, I am making this exact game. :p
I think it would be far more feasible for the story to be an original one. Still, I would kill for a One Piece turn based RPG if it were executed properly. They've already got movesets and stuff to work off of.
I would buy such a game in a heartbeat.
Especially with fully explorable worlds, the ability to explore all over the ships, guest party members from arc only characters, and more. It would be awesome.
Granted, it would take actual effort, but man would it be sweet.
yes and off course the possibility to form your own crew, not just the strawhats, like being able to play with redhaired pirates or buggy pirates or whatever or play luffy and try getting someone like mr.2 in the crew and stuff
^then it wouldn't really follow the "Story" of the series. (even though that would be cool)
I would like to see a traditional final fantasy-ish RPG that follows the entire story of the series (when it finally comes out).
Actually i prefer a fighting game, but if they make a rpg then i will hope for a strategy FFT style to play with the entire crew.

I don't think there are any on consoles though.
If anyone wants details, the game I am making will be released in an episodic fashion, starting with East Blue. :p However, each episode will be just an add-on, not a stand alone game. Therefore, the final game will start at Episode 1 and go all the way through the end. :)
If it had the same RPG awesomeness of Fire Emblem, Earthbound or Paper Mario, I would buy it immediatly.
I don't know why they can't try the rpg route more often, "Nanatsu Shima" on GBA had even a fairly interesting battle system and original story.
I can see One Piece turning into an MMORPG in the future. Form your own pirate crew, fight battles against the navy and other pirates and look for treasure. 
We'd probably have a million Luffy clones though…
