Given their shock at realizing that Luffy is male (one of the women even draws her sword), coupled with the narration "Don't dream of it, don't ever set foot there..if you value your life." I get the impression that these Kuja Amazons are extremely hostile towards men.

The chapter was much better than the spoiler made it sound. Next week should be good too. Hopefully they won't try to kill Luffy. I doubt they're fond of men. Also I think I figured what they do to reproduce. It's possible some of them leave the island, find a man, have sex with him, and then they have kids. If it's a boy they probably throw it away or something but if it's a girl they keep it. We may find out some more about the amazons next week. Or we could see where Zoro is.
This island sounds sorta dangerous… The only thing that could save Luffy now is a prophecy.... Or that's unless he has the balls to beat up a bunch of women... though strong.

this chapter kinda remind me of many of the old chinese soap opera plots that I used to watch when I was young.. the main character somehow fall down the cliff and was rescue by all woman secret tribe…. the head of the tribe had something happend to them to make her and her follower hate men.. then the most attractive one.. will somehow fall for the dude (in this case Luffy) and fallow him back up to his journey..... looking at the building in this chapter.. i'm pretty sure Oda get this idea from the chinese old stories.. (well. DBZ and other storires are derived from most chinese stories anyway)... or if that's turn out to be true. then Luffy will learn some new kick ass techniques also

It's a better chapter than the spoilers led us to believe, that's for sure. There's enough setup through the first half of the chapter to ease the transition of both tone and situation, imo. Especially for One Piece, which I've long accepted going from serious to goofy at the drop of a hat.
I don't really expect this Amazon plot to follow the usual cliches very closely, considering the series' usual free-spiritedness. Once Luffy wakes up, I'm sure he's going to want to leave the island and follow the Biblecard(sp?) to his crewmates as soon as he can. That is, IF he can.

Read the translation (took forever since I spent the day translating the first chapter of Sawai's new series)…at least we know a bit more now on Luffy's survival skills back when he trained with Garp...and at least we now know that as scary as the ending tried to make them, the "Kuja Amazons" aren't that bad.
Didn't Luffy want 10 crew mates beside him for his goal of how many crew members he wanted? I guess Margaret could be a candidate? She could possibly be the ship's other Marks(wo)man?

And this is why people should wait till the chapter is actually out. People act like the spoiler's a freaking movie trailer.
This was a very interesting chapter when the spoilers were released and it is an even MORE interesting chapter after the English Scans were released.
We now see the shit is safe, thanks to the FFR. We see the Camie and Hach still have no idea what happened to the SH, and neither does the Terenbouto (or however you spell that pathetic race).
We now realize that Luffy cried out in anger in the past chapter because he thought Kuma killed all of his nakama one by one and now while he was flying in the air he realized the others had the same fate and were not excatly killed.
He states that everyone has a vivicard? Do they? If they do then it should be a little bit easier meeting up since they all will be pointed in the general direction…
I doubt SA is connected to Kuja Island and I can see Luffy neededing a ship to get back to SA since he was flying over the ocean for a while and even made a comment that if he landed in the water he would surely die.
I love how when he was running in the forest the flashbacks of that terrible ordeal stirred up his emotion, I love when Luffy is full of emotion, it's his best character mood ever cause thats the Luffy that kicks your ass and then hands it to you lol.
We also realize that not ALL the mushrooms on the island are poisonous, they can make you laugh or make you angry or just make more grow on your body until they suck up all your energy and kill you lol.
An Island where no man lives and only woman...what interests me the most is what was said at the very end of the chapter, how it introduces the island again and then states that this is a place you should not dream of or set foot on if you value your life....why?

With such seclusion for such a long time most of the women do what most humans do when they deal with the unknown and react violently. If Margaret doesn't this just points more to her being new nakama. Although there was no time for Luffy to make an impression on her like if he had saved her from that boar or something it'd be more obvious.
Either way its not definite she'll be new nakama. You guys were just screaming for it to be Camie(lame choice anyway). Robin and Franky were not definite to be nakama at first.

Aside from our "candidate" for a new SH. This chapter was kinda heart wrenching a bit.
Luffy was remembering the battle that took place and he couldn't help them. He was frustrated and ran in to a wall. He was laughing when eating the mushroom but no one was there to laugh with him.
Even though this is fictional, it seems that Luffy hides his pain with a laugh and a smile.
With him missing his friends, he'll meet new ones. Margaret, brought him in, she will bring him out and imo, I hope she joins the crew.

The fact they couldn't tell is why he isn't dead yet. I'm sure next chap if its focused on him they'll be deciding the options of how to kill him either by snake bite, drown in the sea or just a plain free for all slaughter.
In situations like these you'll have your amazon who wants to kill him now, others who unsure and then the few who want to protect him. Unless Luffy wins them all over when he awakes if he has the chance.

Personally i can see the next chapter dealing with the women trying to kill Luffy sacrificing a man to their god. Only luffy will find a way to "slither" out of the situation causing them to think that he might actually be their god.
As far as a new crewmate from this chapter i really don't think Margaret will join the crew. She was kinda thrown up there a little too fast for my taste, and though i think she will play a major role in this arc it could be someone we haven't met yet or the giant girl with the sword.
