Hi all,
The forums were down for a quasi-scheduled server move from Sept 22, 8:15 - 9:45 EST (5-GMT). We're now back to our regularly scheduled program. Sorry this scheduled downtime came later than advertised; this effort had to be coordinated between 3 fairly busy people :)

Another note,
The forums are now running w/ memcached enabled. Hopefully this doesn't mean a damn thing to anyone and nobody ever notices. Unfortunately, if vBulletin has used it wrong, it could mean that certain pages are being cached (on the webserver) that shouldn't be.
If anyone has any problems with pages updating properly, please respond to this thread.

well i can see I have to reset my clock. it is NOT 5:30am here. (try 11:30pm) :P
EDIT: ok, My settings are set to Eastern Canadian time, which should be right, yet, it is not showing the right time for me.

Thanks for the reports. The time on the server was indeed off, but only by about 21500 seconds ;) The time should be working now. I've set up ntp to keep it steady. If there are any other problems, let me know.

Hi everyone just a follow up,
Custom avatars are working now right? I did what I thought would fix it a while back, and it seemed to work. I was able to set a new custom avatar, at least.

Hey guys, was the site down this past weekend? I wasn't able to visit the site, I saw on another site we're members were complaining about the same thing about the site being down….......but, I was able to get into the site via my phone, so does anyone know what happened???? cause I saw no announcements for this!

Yeah, it went down for some not others. I don't think you need to worry about it too much, as long as it works now, that's the most important thing.

I was gone over the weekend so I cannot say for sure, but it sounds like it was just simple DNS issues. For instance, when I got home Sunday night I tried to connect to www.apforums.net and it failed, so I changed the address to forums.arlongpark.net and I was in. I didn't think much of it at the time since I got in, but after seeing these comments I would bet that is what it was. Next time give forums.arlongpark.net a try.

So some people here were essentially right.
The main DNS server has been acting flaky the last week, going down sporadically for reasons that I'm not sure of yet. The backup was not configured right, and wasn't loading the zones. The actual webserver was fine. The forums.arlongpark.net address was being backed up, because the arlongpark.net/.org domains were being transfered to the backup properly.
They're all good now. This problem won't happen again unless both servers go down, and that's quite unlikely (they are in different locations managed by different people). Sorry for the inconvenience!
