disney tarzan was good enough
After the Tarzan & Jane debacle I say let them do Tarzan again.
So, what else is new?
NOT MUCH rimshot
I'm with Cosmic, this is nothing new.
I'm actually somewhat interested in how they'd do a new Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde.
I don't know if those really qualify as remakes, especially if they turn out to be more faithful to the source material than other versions. Sure, the material has been used before, but was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory really a remake of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory or was Peter Jackson's Return of the King a remake of Rankin Bass' version of the same? Now, if they're making an updated version of Universal's Frankenstein, then that'd be different.
The main thing for me is that they're making a film of an unfinished book, which seems a bit daft to say the least.
along with a big-screen adaptation of Charles Dickens' final novel The Mystery of Edwin Drood simply titled Drood…
I might want to see this depending on the direction they are taking (if it is modernized, then the answer is no).
I was going to criticize how desperate the movie industry is now for fresh talent as to recycle old ideas (even for "revamping") but when I saw "Stepehen Sommers" I stayed my keyboard.
Disney's Tarzan was great, but Sommers' will be epic. Especially if Tarzan is an American born, African raised treasure hunter trying to survive the curse of the Congo.

I see what you did there.
Damn they should really stop remaking movies. Some remakes are good but I think the number of remakes lately shows that film makers are running out of ideas. What's next, complete Star Wars remake? Not every movie needs to be updated.

Star Wars needs a remake and not a rerererererererererererelease of the original or the remastered versions of the movie.
