Allright, now this sounds fucked. I was looking through my moms TV Guide and it shows at the bottom corner, this anime picture of a samurai. Naturally I was intrigued like any anime fan would be, but sadly, I was dissapointed. here's an excerpt of that very article from TV Guide, detailing"Afro Samurai"….the ultamite and supremly shitty sounding Samurai Champloo ripoff.
From TV Guide:
HAVE SWORD, WILL TRAVEL....
" He's young, he's armed, he's the meanest brother this side of Futuristic Fuedal Japan. Meet, Afro Samurai, the star of Spike TV's upcoming series of the same name. Voiced by Samuel L. Jackson who will co-write and co-produce with artists from the hot japanese studio GONZO, Afro Samurai follows a young warrior ashe hunts down the man who killed his father. "It's a classic revenge tale," say GONZO's U.S. Executive Eric Calderon. "Only with people in kimonos, cell phones, and robots." Afro Samuari dosen't debut until 2006, but remember, you saw it here first."
-Rochell D. Thomas (Taken from TV Guide)
By the sounds of this it sounds like it will probobly have fans but for some reason, the street culture and modern anachronisms mixed with feudal japan and the traditional "Way of the Swordsman" theme aspect seems a bit familiar (Cough...Hack....Samurai Champloo...Cough). Does anyone else think this as well?
