All I really can say this, and Woody Paige pwning today on Around the Horn was awesome. xD
Roger Ebert Pwned Jay Mariotti!!!

I take back every bad thing I said about Ebert. Even how angry I was that he claimed "Video games aren't art". I am now neutral towards him.
-
Not sure what to think, really. I'm unfamiliar with this Mariotti guy and why we should hate him.
I looked up him up but even the criticism section isn't convincing - he's a sports columnist, a profession where even someone who only says positive things can get ensanguined by insults.
-
This thread needs more Woody Paige.

Just pure of win there. xD

I'm not sure who this Moriotti guy is either, but good for Ebert, I guess.

(i only do during football/basketball season)

I always liked Roger Ebert, even when he said video games aren't art (I respect other people's opinions). I believe he has good taste in movies at least 80% of the time, and damn can he write a review. To me, this seems to be another interesting chapter in Ebert's life.
-
^ I agree, I usually hold his reviews in pretty high regard.
King Ty: Nope, I don't watch it. Guess he's really hated though.
-
Apparently Ebert never seen gameplay of God of War or Shadow of the Colossus…
-
I'm sorry, but i don't think video games are art either.
Just like Kojima, I think video games have art in them, but they themselves are not art.
They are the museum which contains the art - That's what Kojima said and everyone called him a pompous prick >_>
-
Ebert used to be my go-to reviewer; I'd trust only Gene Siskel's opinion more. But over the past few years I've lowered my opinion to the point of not looking at his reviews at all. In the end, he's just a fanboy - a well respected and influential one, but a fanboy nonetheless.

I sort of follow major league baseball and college football, but I never watch shows like that.
-
everywhere on earth, most of sport colummnists are egotistic fat guys who think their point of view is absolute truth, so, yeah, bashing one the right way is always cool.

I don't think Kojima's a prick for saying that, but I feel even museums are a work of art for simply carrying such beautiful creations.
In a way, the programming, the graphics, the story, the audio, and the fun factor all mix together to make a piece of art. Does that mean the piece of art is always a masterpiece? Hell no.
Dragon Fighter is a movie. A movie is a piece of art. Dragon Fighter is a complete piece of shit, but it's still art. Even a pile of crap can be art, that doesn't mean it's good.
Art is the ability to create 'greater existance' with others things that do or do not exist. That's my take on the subject anyway.
-
I like Ebert, except when he gave Police Academy 1 ZERO stars and said cartoon characters always lack any depth and are there simply to serve a
plot reason, like characters in pornographic novels. -

what's sports?
it was an entertaining read. It's always amusing to see someone acting like a jerk get smacked in the face.

Too bad he didnt do a Boll review.
