12 years later…..and we finally get this game in the UK <3 Well, on the Wii that is. So...who else has got it/getting it? Seems pretty fun thus far.
Super Mario RPG
-
-
Well, I have the actual game and have no desire to play it at the moment (plus no space), so I probably won't (besides, I could have gotten it a while ago :P).
So you…never tried to rom/import it?
-
I had the actual game at one point (and it was one of my favourites), but it's extremely glitchy now, so I'm going to download it when it comes out on the North American Virtual Console.
-
Best SNES game I ever owned.
-
I'm hoping it comes on Monday. I played the HELL out of this back in the day. I tried the ROM but it was extremely glitchy for me with lots of flickering graphics and inaccurate sound.
-
I WAS waiting for Nintendo to release it in the US, but I got fed up with the wait about a year ago and downloaded the ROM. Awesome game by the way.
-

That would usually depend on the emulator ur using, some of the recent emulators should have fixed much of the issues it has with older ones.
-
great game. ahhh the memories. one of my favorite SNES games EVER
-
getting it on VC,if it ever appears on the NA systems.
-
I barely remember this game at all :(
I do remember it being fun though. Wonder where I can get it nowdays.
-
Wasnt this supposed to be remade to the ds?
-
I'm not sure about any mention of a remake but there was a rumor about a Sequel for the DS with Final Fantasy characters.
-
I see you have a thread and all for this, local. I'll have to pick mine up again. but not until I'm done with MP2. I haven't played it all weekend damn it.
-
I played this years ago. Pretty much the "gateway rpg."
Is there any additional secrets, like Luigi playable? I know I spent forever looking for that dude. That and trying to get the super suit. I gave that up. I couldn't even get jump scarf.

Nope, no playable Luigi. Though I do think he had a cameo (I think in Marrymore)
And yeah, I can't remember if I ever got the Super Suit or not.

Luigi was a pussy, he chose to stay in the instruction booklet. Oh, don't buy his "Mario's off on another adventure, looks like he won't need me" bullcrap. He's perfectly content smiling away, introducing the characters that actually contribute to the gameplay.
You've fought Culex, the Final Fantasy-esqe boss right? So awesome to beat him, and then have the FF Victory Theme play instead of the normal one.
-
you can find Link and Samus in this game
best game
-
actually I never got past the cat in the sewers lol
thats how far i got in the game -
I used to be stuck at the hammer bros after that it was dinosaur thief
(in the mine). -

He also appears indirectly as one of the "wishes" on Star Hill to.
"I want to be a great plumber like my brother Mario!"
And in the DisneyWorld Electric-Light Parade-esque end credits.
-
I remember purchasing this not long after completing FF6 and thinking to myself:
'Self, this is going to be such an incredibly long adventure.'
It was then I discovered all RPGs are not created equal [in length].
As short as it was, this was easily one of the most kick-ass games of its day with enough hidden stuff to send replay value literally through the roof if you don't check the guide.
And that viking dude was friggin' fucked up.
-
I beat the game at lvl 14. That was the best I ever did.
Even Culex. That was a long battle.
I think this game is more fun if you're lower lvl. If you're too high, then the game gets too easy.
-
I wanted this game so much when it first came out. I remember spending so much time looking for that damn casino but I found it.
-
Oh man, in that time Rpgs were simple and straight, these days you stay more in the menus equiping some boring things and watching those endless cutscenes.
-
what was also cool about Mario RPG was it was the first game that Bowser was a playable character.
the same went for Peach too.
It was too bad Geno and Mallow never came back into any other Mario game though. -

Super Mario Kart came out first. This has Peach and Koopa in it, lol.
Geno is in Mario and Luigi RPG (cameo).
-
I was really excited when Mario RPG 2 was to come out on 64. Turned out to be Paper Mario. Good, but, it wasn't the same. I kinda wanted to do more than 9 damage to enemies.
-

Dude, I had the guide and I STILL played that shit about six times through.
I spent a good portion of the time doing the little mini-games like Midas River, the Mine Cart level, Toadfasky's music composing dealie, Grate Guy's Casino. Good stuff.
-
oh ya! the ending! I remember that being so kick ass! gotta play it again to remember it…(or maybe i'll youtube it later)
-
Almost forgot.
Obligatory
EvB-lIcHHPQ
And that viking dude was friggin' fucked up.
Booster! Fuck Yeah! I love that crazy bastard! He's like Wario's Russian cousin!
"There's water coming out of her! licks … tastes salty!"
"My bride to be is chanting 'MARIOHELPMEMARIOHELPME'. Is she showing her happiness?"
-
i remember that. it soulds real cool, but it's hard to understand.
-
Has there been any mention of this ever being available on Wii?
-
It's already on the Virtual Console for Europe, and it was rated by the ESRB awhile ago. My guess is that the United States gets it sometime in the next two or three weeks.
-
"There's water coming out of her! licks … tastes salty!"
Best Out of Context Line ever!
-
So, uh, in case anyone else missed it:
Super Mario RPG is now for sale on the Virtual Console in the United States! Huzzah!
Time for me to take a long trip down nostalga lane.
-
F*ck yeah, I just bought it on the VC a few hours ago and now I'm going to go relive some old memories.

You're totally speaking on behalf of all the Super Mario RPG faithful right now.
I totally made Croco, Mack, and Bowyer look like my bitch earlier. I swear, after playing the more recent RPGs, you realize how amazingly simple yet epic this game was.

lol hai mediafan its me kirby from deviantart :B

Well, I haven't played that much of it yet (I've only just completed Mushroom Way). But I gotta tell ya, back then (when I was like 8 or 9 years old) it seemed so much harder and longer. Even the dialogue, like when Exor (the sword) first talks, I think he only has four dialogue boxes, but back then it seemed like at least ten. Well, I still love the game.
-
Once I get some damn Wii points, I'm getting this!
-
My first rpg! I love this game a nd have so much nostalgia for it and am pretty sure I have the old SNES cartridge somwhere. It turned me onto rpgs and ffVI made them my favorite genre.
-

I played this game right when it came out (whether it was through Blockbuster and eventually buying the game) back in 1995. I was seven when I came across all the dialogue. It's surprisingly still the same for me, especially with the humor and Mario's knack for interpretive dialogue is still epic.
I was voicing for Frogfucious every time I see him with the madatory old, wise Asian man accent.

I'm going through this game quicker than I remembered! After only one day of playing, I've already finished the Booster segment!
(This is in Spoiler tags because it spoils one of the more random boss fights of the game)
! Although Peach hasn't joined yet, I have fought the Wedding Cake.

Yeah, I'm about to where you're at.
It sucks that I have to go to school today too; I'm pretty close to fighting Booster myself.
! Booster Tower? More like Nostalgia Tower. PARODIES, FREE HAMMERS, CHAIN CHOMPS, ITEMS, AND A REALLY WEIRD ASS LOOKING WARIO-ISH CHARACTER. It's madness I tell you! Madness!
-
Any one of you guys do the 100 super jumps?
-
I did the 30, but I've never managed the 100. That's just crazy talk.
-
I plan to get this, this month, when i can get more money for the card
-
… so what's up with Link and Samus? Those are the only changes I've noticed so far.
-
What do you mean? Did they remove the Link and Samus cameos from the game?
-
i think he means he saw those cameos, are there any more.
there is 8 bit mario in the castle i believe. total crack :P
