Umm that's a pretty nice premise IMO.
Green Arrow movie confirmed? (Lex Luthor and Joker to appear as well?)

Uhh…either it's really stupid, or there is something I am not getting here.
Are they saying that GA is a metahuman? Are they jailing him as Oliver Queen or Green Arrow?
In the film, Queen is unjustly locked up in a federal penitentiary for meta-humans
-
Nice to see that Green Arrow is getting a movie but i don't see why he has to go to prison
-
this makes no since

I've been hearing a bit about this at Batman on Film, and it's actually sounding very interesting to me. I'll be checking it out for sure whenever it hits theatres.
RuNa: GA isn't a metahuman, but he has fought against metahumans and won. Would a normal prison keep this guy in? Heck no. So they send him to a place where not even metahumans have escaped. And I think I read his identity is revealed before being arrested, so he'd be jailed as both.
HEATXZ: They don't wanna do the traditional 'origin' story with GA. Those kinda things'll get old eventually; they'll get right into the storyline, and just show a bit of his origins.

My problem with this darn movie is that it wasn't originally written with Green Arrow in mind. They wrote the screenplay about the supervillain prison Supermax (which is a pretty fun concept I must admit) and then pitched it to Marvel and DC to see what superhero character they could insert into it. They got permission to use Ollie, and took it.
It's a fun idea, but I don't like that Ollie is just being shoe-horned into a screenplay that wasn't written with him in mind. On top of that, they've said Black Canary is being left out -_-
I hope it gets reworked enough that Green Arrow really can be the focus, and it won't just be Supermax featuring Green Arrow because it's a disservice to one of DC's most classic characters. It sounds like this project is really on the fast track to getting made, so hopefully it'll all turn out but the idea of writing a movie and then filling in the blanks with whatever superhero they get permission to use doesn't sit right with me.
Also keep Joker and Luthor out of this. Luthor needs to be saved for the next Superman movie (which will hopefully actually be good) and Joker just shouldn't be touched in a live action format for yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeears.

Can't be as big of a disservice as Superman III

Haven't we all had enough of Lex being used as the central villain for Superman movies he's more played out than VHS Tape.

Or could be the fact that to most he would be out of place in a superhero
not featuring Batman. -
This could be pretty good DC's chance to bring their Universe together. I love Green Arrow, I just wonder how old will he be in this movie. Are they going with the Year One or The Longbow Hunters version. However, I wish they could use some more of his villains. Drakon or Onomatopoeia are quite new(if Kevin Sith directs this movie, I can see him incorporate Onomatopoeia into the script somewhere). Their problems are that they are quite new and it looks like Onomatopoeia will go after-all non-superpowered heroes(Batman in november).
I can't wait for Blockbuster, let's just hope he's Roland Desmond, who's actually interesting.
And they already said Joker won't make an appearance, they will just make a hint he's in the prison too. -
Heres hoping for the Rainbow Raider.
-
Hmmm, I think this could be a really interesting premise . . . . if pulled off well. That's the key. This movie could either suck to high heaven or it could be ridiculously cool.
I agree about the Joker bit. We can't have another live-action Joker until another generation has passed. Seriously. They waited almost 20 years between Nicholson's and Ledger's Jokers, we have to wait another. Hell, maybe another 30 years after Ledger's peak performance.
-
They waited that long because there was no reason to use the Joker again afterall he did take a nasty fall at the end of the first movie.
-
Fall? I thought Joker was sent to Arkham or some prison at the end of Dark Knight?

Sandai meant Nicholson's Joker in the Batman movie from '89. He died at the end of the movie (what I believe to be the biggest mistake you can make in a ongoing movie franchise; that's the reason they had to use Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy and Bane as the last widely known villains in "Batman & Robin") by falling from Gotham Cathedral.
! In all seriousness, when the Joker fell at the end of "The Dark Knight" I totally thought he was going to die AGAIN and was like "NOOOOO!!!"
Yes, I wanted the bad guys to survive. :D -
^I C, but I still say
! 2-Face is NOT dead :P
-
Green Arrow getting his own movie, and being in prison? For what? Calling just the wrong bunch of cops fascists for the umpteenth time and getting sued hard? For finally finding incriminating evidence that proves he's a communist? cuz that idea would actually be kind of awesome.
Although I'm grateful for not going into much detail about his origins. The Green Arrow doesn't really rely on his origin story for setting up his reasons for being a vigilante as much as just about any superhero, so it makes sense that they start out in the thick of things with him. And let's hope they make fun of his boxing glove arrow if the movie ever comes to theatres

! Agreed. I was in TDK the third time yesterday and I'm pretty sure I've seen him BREATHING!
! No, in all seriousness: They never said Two-Face is dead ("HALF!"), Batman and Gordon just talked about that his reputation died … sooo, maybe Harvey Dent is dead, but Two-Face lives!! -
This sounds like an awesome premise, what a promising setting for a movie! Green Arrow is one of the few DC characters I actually like, enough so that I read a comic of his in high school (after he had died). It would be hard to do Green Arrow in an epic tale of good v. evil but a prison break out sounds to be excellent, especially if GA uses intrigue and not just his archery skills.
