I don't know if anybody shared this, but I thought it'd be nice to know where their names came from. In one of Oda's SBS (c137), he said Nojiko, Kuina, and Tashigi's name came from birds name. So I did some Googling.

"Ruddy Crake" just has to be the worst name in existence.

I wonder… Is the island Nojiko lived (Arlong's island) Natsu-jima (summer) or Haru-jima (spring)? I hope it'll be Natsu-jima since Nojiko is most active during that time o.o

... Or was it even in Grand Line?

i don't believe it was in the Grand Line. I thought it was in East Blue.

Cocoyashi was in East Blue, hence why Arlong is classified as an East Blue villain.

                        Ah, okay.
Is Aisa a bird name, too? I'll add it now.

                        Edited: Miko-Aisa is cute o.o!

                          I'm sad that they aren't!

Mergansers are neat; they have serrations in their beaks that look like horrible pointy teeth.

what's also interesting is that Bellemere is probably for "belle mere" in french and it is how you call the new wife of your dad, you know, so it's for your new mother(kinda).

the meaning isn't exactly the same, because for nami and nojiko, it's just a new mother, without that "dad link", but oda did well once again because i think it's clear that it is why he shose this name.

hard to explain myself clearly but i hope you understood… <_<
