im really enjoying this series thoes two guys shore know how to make manag with hardy any action and mainly talking intreting first death note then bakuman oh and i think the reason alot of people like this is becuse like me they want to make a manga so they canrelate to the characters in that way
Bakuman

-
The two are really only comics I'm reading right now. I haven't even been keeping up with Mangasceener anymore.
I really dunno why I'm enjoying Bakuman so much, tho. I just wish they would slow down the pace of the series by a little bit. But I guess the readership of Shonen Jump isn't made-up by the most patient group of people around so they need to hurry up things.
Well they need to watch out with that. Remember, this isn't exactly the most exciting topic to write a manga about. If they slow it down it could get really boring really fast.
-
I actually enjoy this manga…I've always thought it'd be cool and all to become a mangaka, but I didn't know anything about drawing manga (other than drawing of course) until I read this manga. Now I realized there's a lot more to it than just drawing things on paper and submitting them. There's names, manuscripts, tones, editors (I knew about them but never really knew what they do) and all that...
This manga has strengthened my mangaka spirit and I think I love it for that. -

I'm pretty similar. This and OP are the only two series I'm following atm.
As for why I'm liking this series as much as I am, I'm not too sure either. All in all, I get a little annoyed with the large amounts of text and how it feels like it takes a bit longer to read the chapter than it should. Still, I'm enjoying it.
-
i actualy like how theres more text so it takes longer to read i read fast so a manga like one pice each chap goes to fast
-
I enjoy Bakuman partially because it's different, and partially because the authors of Deathnote were talented. I'm not saying that anything they make it gold, but they have a very interesting way of taking a strange concept and making it appealing. I just wish they'd stop with all of the psychological text dealing that made Deathnote sometimes painful to read. There's only been two or three moments like this, but it's still somewhat overwhelming.
Regardless, Bakuman gets a thumbs up with me.
-
Well, chapter 14 is out, throwing in a bit more drama and Oda-esque tears. Just try not to look the same by the end, if you're a sucker for sentimental type stuff.
I still find the ''You have too much text.'' stuff to be highly ironic after Death Note.
-
I liked this Chapter. Miyoshi really livens up the series. Obata's facial expressions for her are awesome. She's like Misa with an actual… you know, personality.
-
That last page… it got me right in the fucking soul. >_<
I am such a sucker for that kind of thing… AAGH.
-
cooooooooooooooorny
but the good corny
-
Once again, Miyoshi stole the spotlight.
And can I reiterate how much I love Obata as an artist? Few in the manga world can rival him in facial expressions.
-
Obata's art style in some areas reminded me of the mangaka for D.gray-man. Did not like the ending for this chapter, lovey dovery puke
-
I've finally found time to read bakuman again XD.This Niizuma character really scares me though T_T
-
he doesn't scare me one bit, all I have to do is print a page with him on it and burn it. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA…i'll stop now.
-
-
Good chapter. I think it moved a little slow and some of the dialogue and buildup was unnecessary, but no matter. Once again Miyoshi was great, this time with some awesome (and hysterical) expressions. And the last page was just wonderful. That's the power of love. I think this song is appropriate:

You have no heart.
I do, this was laughable. Want a good love story? watch Amelia, it's a french romantic comedy.
-
Great last chapter!I found the end a little corny though:(
-
The last part was a romance story cliché but I expected that to happen. So I didn't mind at all.
-
Obata-sensei's a great artist for cleaness and consistant style, but Inoue DESTROYS utterly as far as drawing facial expressions, dude. DESTROYS!
The chapter was enjoyable, albeit very cheesy. I find myself less interested in the characters and more interested in the manga they're creating. I wish they'd focus more on the process creative teams use to come up with ideas than the generic highschool rehash.
The rival reminds me WAY to much of a fusion between Light and L. I do enjoy The Megane kid/Shujin? and his girlfriend's story a lot more now.
-
I feel like that guy, Eiji, will get SOME character developement besides being an obnoxious guy that reads so much manga he can draw it. Otherwise the story will get boring, so they probably WILL win and give him some like, change.

I totally agree!

Inoue? Which Inoue are you talking about?
-
There has always been something I don't like about Obata's art. I can't quite put my finger on it. I felt this way even back when I was reading Hikaru no Go.
But no doubt the man is good. Very good. Perhaps it's just the backgrounds. Then again Obata probably doesn't draw the backgrounds himself.

You probably meant Amélie, right? A slice of cheese makes a sandwich taste better.
-
I just started reading this series and have to say it's great. I don't usually read slice of life stuff but from the first chapter it has yet to bore me. I love the narrative following the 'action' of the chapter and overall just the way the story unfolds. Latest chapter was kind of anti-climatic. Wonder if other people thought their series was better or if Niizuma won the majority of readers. And I love the pen name conversation!
-
Chapter 15 is beasty

Yes, that's the movie I was talking about.
On topic: decent chapter, kept me interested.
-
Inoue? Which Inoue are you talking about?]
Takehiko Inoue(creator of Slam Dunk, Chameleon Jail, Real, Vagabond, Buzzer Beater, etc).
And yeah, latest chapter was good. Mainly because so much got done. FINALLY!
The pacing was so much quicker, we got some relationship development, character relationships changed(Shujin's gf now seems like part of t he team instead of a gag) and some manga career development and there was enough room left for a decent cliffhanger. It was a bit predictable but in order to establish a decent rivalry, their opponent needs to know they exist. So most likely, beating him here will get his attention.
-
Hmm, I dunno I thought this chapter was kinda slow compared to other chapters. I did think Mashiro e-mailing was pretty funny and it's always amusing to see Mashiro and Shujin making manga. It's also pretty cool that Hattori thinks their manga is better than Eiji's. Well, I guess it's up to the readers now, but I have a feeling Eiji will still win this round.
-
I don't think either of them are gonna win. I think Toriko is gonna win.
Did anyone else notice Toriko on the cover next to Eiji's "Crow" manga? -
Awesome last chapter! This one has to be the best so far!
-
On a totally unrelated note: I was confused about the whole e-mailing thing. To me it looked just like they were text messaging each other. Is it just a different term in Japan or am I missing something?

Phone's can use a very light for of e-mail. Looks like text, but it is still e-mail. I am only on chapter 10, so I didn't read the whole thread in fear of spoilers, but did anyone notice this?

^^ Luffy's bounty is incorrect!!! >_<[/hide]
-
^Pretty sure, EVERYONE here noticed that. lol
-

Yeah, I guess so. My phone can also check my e-mail account but not many people have those kinds of phones. It's something you see quite often in manga, though, so I thought I'd check if it really was e-mail they were talking about.
About the series: I'm interested to see where they go from here. If they do win, are they gonna go with the series they had now or create something totally new, possibly for Jump? So far we haven't seen too much detailed info on the series they have been working on, but if they do a "final" product, that should change too.

Well, if you consider that the poster is tacked on to a poster of the finale scene of Alabasta, then his bounty there is correct. He doesn't get the increase until after Enies Lobby.
-
They were emailing eachother through their phones. Sending messages and to their email adresses rather than phone numbers, which their phones had connections to. They do that instead of text messaging in Japan, it seems.
-
He doesn't get the increase until after Enies Lobby.
Actually, being honest here I totally forgot that he had a 100M bounty. Some reason I thought he had a 120M ~~ confusing with all the bounties of late I guess.
-
Zoro has the 120 mil. bounty. Their bounties after Alabaster were Luffy/100 mil, Zoro/60 mil.
-
I'm finally caught up once again. This lovey dovey stuff is finally beginning to annoy me. Still, the email part was kind of cute.
-
The newest chapter is out. It's fairly predictable but I enjoyed the ending and where the story is going.
-
That last panel was hilarious.
I'm glad their going to take a second shot at mainstream. I get more in to it and I rather read a cult manga about making a mainstream then a cult manga about cult manga.
If that makes any sense at all.
-
Who says this manga is cult?
And yeah, not as good as last week because of the insane level of predictability, but we may be seeing better stuff thanks to that final page(which was good)! I also liked Miho emailing them about their manga. <3
Maybe in the future, they'll get tips from the girls on what types of things they should put into their manga to attract a female audience?
-
I do! I am haggis hear me roar!
But maybe it's not a cult manga, but it not the normal jump manga.
-
They meant "cult" as opposed to "mainstream". Like DeathNote is "cult" because it was realy original. It doesn't mean like a religious cult where only real weirdos like it. It means only people into something new would like it.
But yeah, they came in third in Akamaru. So we'll see where the series goes from here. Time is actually passing in this manga, because they're in high school now, even if it wasn't a lot of time. Maybe they'll do something like that to try to appeal to a larger audience.
I think eventually, this will become about 2 serialized mangas competing against eachother for first place in Jump. Or at least competing as serialized mangas, and Saiko and Shujin's manga will be one that they give more time talking about how they came up with it, as opposed to these ones where they come up with them offscreen or from short conversations. -
I personally love the series. Its inspiring
-

Yeah, but "cult" works are called that because they have a small, yet extremely devoted, following. Anything that gets printed in Jump is mainstream by default, unless it bombs in the magazine but finds lasting popularity among a cadre of die-hard fans. Many things that started out as cult items (Star Trek, Rocky Horror, and The Lord of the Rings, among others) went on to achieve an enhanced reputation and—eventually—mainstream popularity. But that popularity is not what made them cult.
So, you were saying?

Am I the only one to think that throwing away those pages in the river may come back to bite them in the ass? (like somebody picks them up and plagiarizes their idea?)

That was my first thought. Should of used fire.

yup i think it will
