Has anyone gone for the obivous weakness to light - a mirror? If you can reflect the attacks elsewhere this guy is useless.

I am personally fond of ppl sharing their opinions, views making up their own theories and expalining them to us.
So basically what I wish to say is that I am glad that you are looking for a potential weakness of the light logia fruit.

All I would add to the thus far arguments about mirrors, crystals and similar stuff is…
The guy travels at the speed of light, if someone can start deflecting attacks with the speed of light with some mirrors and similar stuff then hats off, then again this is manga and not everything goes by the rules...
Just if we look at the ppl who have so far faced him, we can notice that before they are punched they basically dont even realise untill after...the guy just punches at the speed of light, I guess non of them is able to even notice the kick, so any kind of dodging doesnt happen and most certanly there is no room for mirror stuff...

But we ll see how Oda goes with it...
Thje light fruit is just powerful and when Kizaru says speed is weight, he says it right. At the speed of light even the lightest things contain power of massive proportions...
And perhaps an interesting detail. In an ultra cold atomic gass speed of light can be reduced to 17 m/s, must say, that when seeing that data I imediately thought of Aokiji even if he has the slightest connection to it heh.

So anyway its my opinion that its not his lasers that present a problem not even him being logia. I mean its kind of hard to hit someone even if you have seastone whatever if he is able to move at the speed of light and make blows with that speed.

Apparently the speed of light is only the speed of light in space.

Something about the speed of light through sulphur is 35 MPH for example…

About Kizaru

I think simply having a mirror shield isn't going to work for Kizaru. His kicks are solid, and move near light speed, so they genuinely produce a large amount of force. The mirror will deflect his lasers and his flashes, but he can just punch or kick through a mirror and crush his opponents.

Crystals are similar. They will redirect his lasers, but they won't to anything to stop his high-speed strikes.

Black objects won't do anything at all, because light may be absorbed, but the energy is converted to heat, so the damage will still be there.

^^That is the real problem with most theories about anti-Light Logia. Of course, most people were talking about defense against the … "lasers". (Dr. Evil).

Well, that was why I continuously posted "What about Crystal?!" w/ the link on Crystals. There has been research to stop and store light within crystals for data / memory storage, and there has been some success in stopping the light using such crystals. How practical it is or even how reliable the information I have read about it is, I remembered hearing about it in my Physics class years back….but idk. Haha. I was just being a dork. (LOL, haven't said dork in a long time).

Man Kizaru is a pain! Fortunately so far he seems to be hindered by pure stupidty otherwise he goes down as the second most over power character in OP.

If it was a radiation problem, my next guess would be good old LEAD. But since it ain't…. I'm finished.

If you throw a baseball at the speed of light does it remain at that speed forever? From my understanding, it loses speed and eventually will come to a stop. Since his leg is no longer moving at the speed of light (because it solidified) I assume there is a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a second where it has time to slow down .00000000000001 m/s. So it is technically no longer the speed of light, "but close enough to say it is". I mean really, who is going to say otherwise right? (To Kizaru I mean).

You at least can go back and back that statement up with proof. I however can't find my (back then) whack idea that because of their color themes the Red Dog will have a lava/magma ability while the Yellow Monkey will have a light ability, just because I connected Kuzans ice ability to the blue in Blue Pheasant. Darn was that whack but now I wish I could find it since this is probably the only time ever that I got it right with something as whack. Well, I hope that at least this post remains in case I'm correct with the Red Dog.^^

Based on what I read from Greg's link, couldn't the Gyojin be repersentative of the orges? They're both strong, humanoid monsters. Plus, it seems the Gyojin have been beat own by the humans already.

Now that, I think would be reading too far into it. Oda doesn't seem to have too much motivation behind the motivations of his characters with respect to what or whom he bases them on, that is to say, no matter what he uses as a base, it doesn't seem to have any pull on their actions or relations to other characters.

Basing a particular character on said oni? Yeah sure. But creating characters from legends and fairy tales to contrast them outside of anything more than a gag? I dunno, that's where he seems to draw the line hence the whole randomness behind S&G.

Well, the Urashima Tarou reference is there in this story arc, just subtle.

Urashima Tarou is about a boy who saves a turtle from human beatings, and the turtle invites him to the Dragon Palace located under the ocean, where a beautiful princess resides. Luffy and co. saving Hachi & Camie, and (probably) going to the Fishman island under the ocean where the beautiful mermaid princess lives fits in with this theme.

Urashima Tarou, Momotarou, and Kintarou are 3 of the most prominent fairy tales with protagonist named "~tarou".

Well that's why I mentioned the 'Chief Advisor' Tsuru as yet another possible connection.

But I don't think that's the point.

References and jokes aside, I don't think Oda takes himself seriously enough to base the actions of his characters on said models. And while I would certainly expect more than a few references to 龍宮城 to show up, I don't think we can expect any major story movements to be based on these events or should I say, have similar results. That's all. Oda has always sprinkled Japanese/Chinese lore and figures in the story without it having any 'deep' meaning or relation to character motivation. And that's what I think some posters were trying to say would happen.

I don't watch cartoons. I don't watch anime. I read manga and comics however, and I do not think One Piece is very simple…compared to say, Naruto or Bleach. So like I said, get it right =)

Back on topic. I almost forgot what to expect from this next chapter. I feel like Garp has been out of the game long enough, and with all this fighting going on I am thinking next chapter we might see a little Garp-meets-Rayleigh. Perhaps?
