I'm a big collector of old games, Dos and Mac alike, but many of the oldest games I've played are impossible to find nowadays, mostly because I can't remember the names. These include a Dos edutainment game where you play a fish that eats other fish, teaching the food chain, and an Apple II game where you search a farm for farm animals (I'm not sure, but I think this was in black and white). As it saddens me to not be able to find these games, I'd like to start a thread dedicated to old game requests. If you post here, I will do my best to find the game you're looking for. ^^

this thread makes me miss my amstrad 464 with it's monochrom monitor. this famous age when games were on audio tapes. it makes me think about arkanoid, commando, green beret, gouls and ghost, rick dangerous (who can forget him) and so on…

again, thx roboblue, in fact i just was thinking about these games, didn't really wanted to play them, but now, well, you know what it is, it's the same when you meet again the first person you loved, you're feeling strange, you think about the past, the good moments, the bad ones and you only want to… DAMN PLAY AGAIN!!!

Does anyone have that game where you have to save the planet Saturn from destruction?
-
Mathroids Online
You can still buy Commander Keen here!
I'd prefer for people to pay the ten bucks to support ID, since they're one of the few companies that still sell their old games (GO EPIC!). However, if you're too lazy/broke/inconsiderate too, you can always download the game demos free. Also, the full games are available on google for free (not legally) without too much effort. >.>You can still download the shareware versions of Doom and Duke 3D/2D. You can also buy the full versions (I haven't been able to actually find download links for these).

Those are list of games which (I believe) contains some old games. Need to set up through SMF forum though
And I failed it to set up. Admin can play, but not users >_<;
But somebody better than me could set it up for … everyone's fun? >.>

Commander Keen was the first computer game I ever played, and I kept the original floppies. They're here somewhere…
-
ooh, if you could make IMZ images of the disks, I'd be really grateful. o.o

These include a Dos edutainment game where you play a fish that eats other fish, teaching the food chainI remember that game, it was one of my favourites back then. Everyone always took The Oregon Trail, so I never got a chance to play it (Amazing, I know). Instead, I played that one game you mentioned. Fun game it was. Was it called "Pike Lake" or "Rainbow Lake" by chance? I'm going to have to look that up later…..
-
that fish game was awesome. i gotta try and jog my memory. oh and then there was this one math game where you'd advance along as robots along these tiles doing math. and sometimes you'd land on top of the other robot and squish them. it was swell too.
-
Ultrabots. If you can find this game I'll worship at your FEET _
(and actually now that I think about it maybe One Must Fall also ? >.>)
-
ok, got fish game name figured out. Odell lake. It was for the Apple II.
does this screeny make you think of ninjaturtles, sleep overs and Tee Ball again?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v291/rev4n/odelllife.jpg
someone wrote a faq for this at gamefaqs.com XD
http://db.gamefaqs.com/computer/apple2/file/odell_lake.txtAlso, it seems they made an updated version called Odell Down Under in 96' but it's quite a bit different and has sharks.
Edit: and is it this one must fall? http://www.the-underdogs.org/game.php?gameid=789
Oh and I got odell lake now
the .dsk files. Now to find apple II emulator.
if you want it, pm me and i'll send you http link to my server. -
How do apple II and mac emulators work? I've never successfully emulated a mac or apple on my Windows XP PC.
I had to buy a mac just to play Fungus.
Ultrabots: This is a little tricky. Click Pobierz, then scroll down and click free. You'll have to wait a minute or two. -
Wow. The oldest game I play now is Heroes of Might and Magic I. It's really fun but of course I get annoyed by quality, effects and graphics at times. But I still love it. ^_^
It's not like.. THAT old, though. -
I still have the Odell Down Under disc for Windows 95.
Does anyone have the game where you can play as animals from a forest and you have to eat all the food in an area?
It teaches about the food chain and there are hunters and other animals coming after you.
Also…does anyone remember Math-castle?
The one where you solve math problems to defend your castle? -
i just went to zophar's domain to get one. i use AppleWin v1.8h. Works fine on 2k. Haven't tested on XP yet but should work just the same.
-
I'm pretty sure that the game you're referring to is Animal Quest.
You can download the demo there (it's not really abandonware so the full version is hard to find).
Is Math Castle in any way related to Math Maze? -
Commander Keen is my all time fave. i just wanna play it! not buy it.
The Commmander keen 4 and 5 are my favourites!
-
OMG. RB, you kick ass ! I love this game !
EDIT - erk, maybe not. The .rar on there is totally corrupt. @_@ Is there another one you might be able to track down ?

Hee! Whenever I load that up I just laugh at the graphics. The game is sooo good though (as are the next two - hopefully V will be good).
As far as old games are concerned I love the old Lucasarts adventure games like Sam 'n' Max Hit The Road and Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. The classics I played in college. Oh, and Ultima Underworld. That was spectacular. I still have all of them around here somewhere and a nice old machine to run them all. I try to keep all the classics just in case I ever feel the need.
The one game I had but had a hard time finding (just found it actually) is Siege from Mindcraft. There have been a half dozen games called Siege but this one had battle cattle and war chickens and was the first game I can remember with a scenario editor. First game I remember with an expansion too. Great game.
-
Odell Lake! That's it! I remember it all now..
My favorite old game? Super Muncher! The sequel to Math and Number Munchers, you could turn into a Super Muncher..
-
OH MY GOD.
ANIMAL QUEST.
THANK YOU.
And I don't think Math-Castle is related in anyway to Mth-maze.
Does anyone have that old game where you have to match each country's national anthem with it's flag?
I only got Singapore and my country correct…. -

I only got Singapore and my country correct….I remember that game, I think have it on a floppy somewhere! That is, if it hasn't been overwritten, lost, or destroyed. I think….. IIRC, I think it was called "Flags". I'm not quite sure though.
-
THAT'S IT!
FLAGS!
I also had one where you had to fill up a bathtub with hot and cold water to achieve the correct temp… -
BTW, does anyone know where I can find a copy of Math-Maze? The last time I saw it was on some obscure site for 60 bucks.
-
Games I remember from my early PC days are The Incredible Machine (or just TIM), Ski or Die and Stunts. Those games were awesome :P. But there were plenty of others too…
-
if i recall there was this one game with this fella which you equip weapons suchs as sharpnel bombs shot gun machine gun etc etc and your suppose to kill the same looking guy but with different color and ammos and win with a kill count. anyone have any idea what it is?
-
I remember playing the "Hugo" series for hours when I first got a computer… I'm not even sure if I was having fun playing it, it was a pretty retarded and irritating game
Commander Keen is an alltime dos classic, I loved all of them. Also the old Duke games...
-
I always loved the King's Quest series. I think my favorite was KQVII. Oh and thanks for finding the Incredible Machine. That one was addictive as hell.
-
King's Quest 7 is hard to find (I don't even have it), but the first six KQ can be found here.
-
Thanks anyway RB. Some great other games there too. Lesure Suit Larrys, Police Quests, and even the first few Monkey Islands!!! Those bring back some memories. Now, where to begin…
-
any idea where we can get the old monkey island series? that's the first ever adventure games i fell in love with. It was the time when i thought the chef was the chief -_-
Oooo, my 200th post
i'm a beefcake now
-
You can find the monkey island games in the same place as the KQ link I posed before.
-
but i believe that you have to pay for it? i thought its a free download or something?
-
Comand&Conquer
Comand&Conquer Gold
Comand&Conquer Red Alert
Duke(I not sure these are old enough.
)
-
I think C&C & Red Alert are still being sold in collection sets (or however they're known as). Note, Red Alert, I heard, doesn't work on Windows XP.
-
Ah, sorry lousey, I didn't look closely enough.
-
its okay, i found my monkey island somewher eonline after going thru 100 pages of search links. i heard they're selling the command and conquer series in a collection with C&C series and C&C RA series
-
Do you know where I can get a copy of Operation Inner Space?
-
I think C&C & Red Alert are still being sold in collection sets (or however they're known as). Note, Red Alert, I heard, doesn't work on Windows XP.
actually I already played it on ps version(really f*** me up with the it's password.)
-
C&C and Redalert is never fun on the ps. Its always the original PC version the rawks your socks off. and about red alert, i think u can check the EA webbie if it doesn't work on XP>.
-
I haven't tried installing Red Alert yet (I got it a few years ago, my friend had extras. I got it again in the "Theatre of War" package), but if anyone knows how to get this game working good without any problems on XP, then of course, a post or PM would be awesome.
Anyone here a fan of Mechwarrior 2? I love that game. I have the CD sitting on my desk, but once again, I hear it's not compatible with XP! (Why all the good ol' games?) I heard that it was possible to get a DOS version of it running though. If anyone has information concerning how to get Mech2 running successfully without the use of the virtual OS (or whatever it was called), I'd be glad to hear it.
Sorry if I'm kind of going on a little tangent, but information on how to run some older games I have would be nice.
-
I loved MechWarrior!
I liked the Raven.
