Dude, re-runs don't kill a show, if anything it helps it. You seem drunk… or generally not getting what's going on. But yeah, I don't think FUNi has worked on 196+ and definitely not 206+. They probably dropped that the moment CNUS dropped them, they are most likely concentrating on the earlier episodes and HOPEFULLY the movies and specials.

I'll still never understand why they dubbed Movie 8 first.
-
I'll still never understand why they dubbed Movie 8 first.
Toei told them to. And in case you wonder why Toei would do that… Toei never does anything that makes sense.
-
Probably because it was the newest movie at the time, but at the same time doesn't spoil anything major (being that it's a remake of Alabasta).
-
I remember someone early last year, before the FUNimation licensing was announced, saying that maybe they maybe Toei Animation should put out an English uncut version of the movie, possibly on Cartoon Network, to give a sneak peek at what the original "One Piece" story is really like. Toei Animation reps had been reading these forums last year, I don't know if they still do, so maybe that's where they got the idea.
-
So then it is our fault that piece of crap came here first instead of movie 6? For shame.
Nah, if they were actually looking at the forum, they would know how most people called 8 a shit film.
-
Heso!
I really feel that they wanted to get movie 8 out there as a promotion to show fans how they were going to handle the show. It also allowed them to go ahead and get some major characters cast like Vivi and everyone from Alabasta. I mean come on I was just so happy to wash the 4Crap version of Alabasta out of my head thanks to this movie.
Now I feel that when they feel the time is right the rest of the movies will come out. I hope that the next one will be six then four.
I feel that we need to give Funimation a bit of time. They have had a very busy year because they got a lot of stuff from Geneon and ADV. A fact that I am very glad of because I was collecting a lot of titles from those companies and almost did not get to complete my collections of them.
And anyway I say all good things come to those who wait. I mean at least the dub of series is as far along as it is and the next set is on the way. So am just fine to wait a bit longer for the rest of One Piece to come out. I have to say that I am also hoping that they will get the specials too. I would love for them to get the Romance Dawn special. It was wonderful.

@EvilGamerX:
That would be one of the best things they can do. Why? Because they can package it with the DBZ special. So they are advertising to another audience as well. The DBZ audience would be best because that fanbase has a good chance of enjoying the series. So someone who loves DBZ is gonna buy it and they are more than likely watch the Romance Dawn special if it is on the same disc.
Yep, that makes sense, and I wish they could do that soon 'cause I liked both specials too. And since DBZ and OP are being dubbed by Funi, that makes it even better! I just hate that we'll have to wait quite a while to get this "supposed" double feature since Brook is in it. I know that Unlimited Adventure had Franky, but then again, a game is not really an anime DVD and only die-hard fans went out and bought it. So we can hopefully expect a surprisingly earlier release of this due to Toei's "say so" (a la Movie 8), or we'll have to wait a long time for it. Well, I got the patience. I'd much rather Funi get as much of the series down first, then move onto the movies/specials. I know the English cast has pretty much gotten their characters down, but I really want them to be in these roles long enough so Movie 6 can have all the impact it can get (my favorite movie btw).
-
Man, I want movie nine first and foremost, and ten when that comes out. 'Course I'll have to break out the tissue…but come on my Great Exan friends!! Watery eyes of joy
-
Why is it that I hate what most love and love what most hate?
I loved Crazy Rainbow, didn't care for Brand New World.
I loved Movie 7 & 8. (but I do love the films others love too, like 4 and 6)
I also like volume 52's cover.I don't think movie 8 was bad by any means, maybe it was in the Japanese version, but all I've seen is FUNi's and I think it's great. Would it be if I had seen it before the actual Alabasta arc? I don't know, cause that wasn't the case. Also, as great as movie 4 and 6 are, FUNi hopefully releases movie 9 and 10 next. They're most likely too.
-
Also, as great as movie 4 and 6 are, FUNi hopefully releases movie 9 and 10 next. They're most likely too.
But Movie 9 and 10 both contain tons of huge spoilers, what with the taking place after Enies Lobby/Thriller Bark and all. (YES, I KNOW ABOUT THE GAME, BUT PEOPLE ARE MUCH MORE LIKELY TO BUY A MOVIE BASED ON A SERIES THAN THEY ARE TO BUY A GAME BASED ON IT)
The most likely event, assuming that Toei doesn't start acting like Toei again, would be that FUNi releases Movie 1… Because it's the first movie, and releasing them in order makes sense. Sure, I want Movie 4, 6 and 9 as much as anyone, but I would prefer it if FUNi focused on releasing the rest of them in the order of which they were actually made. Of course, IF they suddenly came and said "We will be releasing Dead End Adventure!" right now, my reaction would probably be to start leaping for joy... -
The "spoiler" is a failed argument, if you ask me. It doesn't matter if people are less likely to buy a game, the fact is FUNi released it knowing damn well of the spoilers. FUNi knows most of OP's US market, especially the ones buying their DVDs, are up to date or at least know of certain "things". Hell, they even have a HUGE spoiler right on the front page of the official website by not only having Luffy and Zoro's updated totals after Enies Lobby, but Nami's wanted poster, too! They are also gonna release all of them soon for download: http://onepieceofficial.com/
FUNi doesn't care about spoilers, something I'm glad of. Being able to get things in the US closer to the Japanese releases cause spoilers aren't worried about is gonna be sweet.
-
Oh yeah, sure they don't.
What would they care about the suspense and anticipation of the audience due to not knowing what's going to happen next COULD have turning in more viewers and more cash. Nope, they don't care at all. They only want to cater to the anime fans which is a less mainstream and therefore less-cash offering demographic.
Wait, doesn't that defeat the purpose of the company?:wassat:
-
Couldn't the same be said of Funi concerning DBZ? It was over and done with by the time they got their hands on it, yet still remained hugely popular because they were also catering to fans who didn't know where to get the original subs. There were tons of spoilers already out there before Funi even began to start dubbing it. I'm with Buuhan in that I'm glad they don't care about spoilers. As long as they keep doing what they're doing, I'll continue buying the dvds.
-
Yeah well that's DBZ, the only series Funi can't get right.
-
Well its true they can't do Z right but Dragonball was handled pretty well in my opinion and apparently they've started doing GT right as well. The new DBGT Season 1 DVD has translated versions of the Opening and Endings (like we have with One Piece) and isn't horribly cropped like the Z sets. Now granted it still has some problems (something to do with eyecatches and next episode previews) but its definantly a step up.

Dude… One Piece IS OFF THE AIR. 95% of who's buying the DVDs are anime fans.
-
I agree with Buuhan, I don't think the current DVD demographic is going to change any time soon.
-
Dude… One Piece IS OFF THE AIR. 95% of who's buying the DVDs are anime fans.
Doesn't mean it can't come back ON the air.
Indeed that is the desired outcome.
-
I agree with RobinNami and EGX about releasing the Dragoball and Romance Dawn specials in the same set. It was something I hought of myself when watching the specials. It could bring sales from old school Dragonball fans and get the ones who don't watch One Piece interested in it, which means more $$$.
It's also great that FUNi has both Dragonball and One Piece, so if Cross Epoch ever gets animated, they can be the first to jump on it.

Agreed here completely. As long as we can see Funi is putting their heart and souls into it, that's all that matters to me. If we pressured them to rush, the end result would be crap. And like you said, technically they have dubbed into Skypiea already, so they are much further along than the Uncut DVDs make it seem. They just need to change some things for the uncut DVDs, but most of the stuff in the TV dub is fine as is, aside from all the "Cursed Fruits", "Zolos", edits and of course the few dialogue changes. Actually, I'm thinking they might dub the uncut first and then edit it after.
As for the movies, I would like for them to do them in order. I mean, they are releasing Season 1, so I wish to get movie 1 along with those sets, since it takes place more around that time frame. Not a huge fan of that movie, but I'm going more for the sake of the collection here.
Btw, has anyone heard anything at all about if they have rights to dub into G8, and most importantly into the widescreen episodes with 207 +?
-
I agree the whole Cross Epoch phenomenon is great potential for FUNi. Sadly tho, nothing has been brought into animated form and most of it is merchandise… which I don't see FUNi bringing over.
-
I quite enjoy there dbz double features, they look cool.
but yeh, the shows seasons on dvds remastered are dumb, im only getting them because im sick of waiting for a really good dbz release.
-
I wonder if Funi will ever do a one piece double feature? I'd buy it.
-
I wonder if Funi will ever do a one piece double feature? I'd buy it.
Maybe, but I doubt it would happen before they've already released all the movies individually.
-
I wonder if Funi will ever do a one piece double feature? I'd buy it.
usally they only do it when they have the movie already dubed and out.
-
I wouldnt doubt FUNImation to do a double-feature from the get-go, what with the packaged media side of anime having taken a downturn which nobody sees going back up.
-
I could see them packing movie 1-3 together, considering they were like the first 7 Dragonball Z movies. Only around 40-50 minutes long. The longer movie length didn't start till movie 4 if I recall correctly.
-
yeah, a Movies 1-3 Boxed set would sell really well, as people probabily wouldn't wana buy those Movies Seperate.
but I hope they do it in a Normal DVD Case, so it looks right sitting next to the rest of the Movies as they're released, Movie 8 is already out in a Normal case -
Why isn't anyone talking?! New episodes start in AU in 6 days.
According to Foxtel:
Angel Island, Obliterated! The Horror- 30 Dec
Knock Over Giant Jack! Last Hope for- 31 Dec
Miracle on Skypiea! The Love Song- 2 Jan
The Battle Ends! Proud Fantasia- 5 Jan
I Made It Here! The Yam the- 6 Jan
(source: https://www.foxtel.com.au/EPG/EPG.aspx )Guess the Dec. 31st -Jan. 2nd break is due to new year specials or something.
-
So, Skypiea ends here, right?
-
I think so. What a way to bring in the new year, huh?
-
Yea but what is comin after that i hope AU will give us more and really shove it up CNUS's tailpipe
-

can you please stop talking about CN in america? it's getting really old REALLY fast.
-
I kinda hope we get more than six episodes… -_- But whatever, G8 would be a treat, though :D
-
Can't wait for these. Will be nice to reach the conclusion of Skypiea, and if we do get G8 afterwards, that would be the icing on the cake.
Commander Jonathan is dreamy.
-
@Yusuke:

ok then but yea 6 episodes would be a bit of a drag i dont care much for G8 but i would like to see the Davy Back fights very much
-
Yeah, I'll be sitting out the G8 episodes. Fortunately they'll be over in a tad over a week.
Then we'll get to see the 5th opening and hear Foxy's voice :D
-
Guys, just keep in mind the Foxtel schedule only goes up 14 days at a time. Jan. 6th is the 14th day, come checking it tomorrow, we should see another episode.
-
Then we'll get to see the 5th opening and hear Foxy's voice :D
Funimation hasn't gotten that far yet.
-
They might have. Tho last I heard the last of the batch they were told to do was episode 205.
-
Indeed, plus we haven't gotten a TV dub update in some time. We only get to hear/infer where they are in the DVD dubs :P
Also the Moon and Sun ending was reported to have been recorded "some time ago."
-
Wha-oh. Foxtel isn't showing an episode after Jan. 6th yet. Does this update automatically, or do they have to do it? If they have to, I can understand as it's the holidays.
-
Hey guys, you don't have to look on foxtel. Just look at the schedule page on Cartoonnetwork.com.au and it shows that one piece will repeat back to Zolo vs. Braham on Jan 9th. Maybe after these next set of repeats we'll get G8 and foxy dubbed, who knows?
-
That's really weird, why did they reshow ALL the Reruns just to show us like 5 Episodes and then Pop back to reruns?!
-
Well, that's what usually happens with a show that runs new episodes 5 days a week… rerun hell...
-
The 5 days a week that we got was worth it for me.
-
Yeah, with over a month of an episode a day and a DVD release every other month, I'm severely happy with Funi. Thus, I will have no complaints for a long time :)
-

Do you mind providing the link to the page where you found this? Not that I don't believe you, but I want to see the schedule.
So they will show new episodes until what day? The 8th? If so that means they will show the 1st episode of G8 before the reruns. What episode is Zoro vs. Braham again?
