I don't think the problem is you suggesting it, probably more of you not giving much of a reason behind why it would be a good idea beyond "more people" supposedly watching. When a bunch of us gave our points as to why it wouldn't really be a good idea, you went along with it and agreed, then went back and tried arguing it again and avoiding a lot of the counterpoints people were giving.

If you truly think it's a good idea just be prepared to defend it, that's all. Especially if you're in the minority.

By the way, any reason why the DeMarco tweet couldn't have been posted here? I assumed the other thread was mainly to focus on the actual TV airings and this one was for the status of OP on television in general.

Also, Im an avid ratings watcher as well and One Piece is doing fine. Look what you ommited:

Saturday night’s TOONAMI block presentations of Bleach (12 a.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among adults 18-24 & 18-34 and men 18-24 & 18-34, while Naruto (12:30 a.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among adults 18-24 and all targeted men demos. One Piece (1 a.m.) and Soul Eater****(1:30 a.m.) both ranked #1 in their respective timeslots among adults 18-24 and men 18-24 & 18-34. Sword Art Online (2 a.m.) ranked #1 in its time period among adults 18-24 & 18-34. Both Naruto and One Piece increased dlievery of all key adult and male demos, while Soul Eater grew all key adults vs. the same time period last year.

It's what everyone uses over at the Toonami forum and they keep updated with the ratings more than you guys, so no, it's not a pointless metric. This is what you need to keep an eye on, rather than just the total viewers.

It retention meant squat, Once Piece would be on at 3:30 by now. Total viewers are also irrelevant. Relative ratings are what matter. One Piece is pulling 120% of the average. Ergo, it's fine and not going anywhere. I don't care what Toonami forum users think or how updated they are with the ratings. Retention is a bullshit metric.

I'm sure these are the people reading TV Media Insights and Marc Berman's hard-on for "LOL guys RETENTION" which certainly hasn't meant anything at all. For any TV show in recent memory.

One Piece has the BEST relative ratings of ANY 1 am show the block has said since its inception.

One Piece's relative ratings are ABOUT the SAME as Soul Eater and Thundercats were. In fact, One Piece's performance is far more impressive when you consider that Soul Eater was on during a time when very few strong shows aired (3) and One Piece is one of five.

Relative ratings matter. Retention doesn't. I'm not going to acknowledge a spooky metric trolls use to detract from solid success to help them sleep at night.

Let's truly see if you guys can look at the rating with an unbaised eye... or will your love for OP could your thoughts on how it's preforming, even if it's not in danger of being dropped. Honestly, that's setting your standards low - only wanting it to do ok enough to stay on the line-up. This is OP. It shouldn't be mearly doing ok... it should be KILLING the competition.

The people at Toonami are smart enough to know that real OP arcs will end up gaining much better ratings then the filler/might as well be filler Foxy arc. Wait til the CP9 arc ends before you start jumping to cancelation assumptions.

Here's an idea: Just ignore them. Like seriously, who cares what a bunch of idiots on the internet think? You don't need to educate them on anything, just forget they even exist dude.

We want OP to succeed in America because we think it deserves it, not because we want some tards on a different forum to stop trolling it. We've just begun the saga that served as the hook of the entire series for casual/non fans of One Piece. Most recent fans of OP will probably tell you that the CP9 saga is what got them into the series. If that still proves to be true then we should be expecting OP to pull in a million+ viewers regularly in the next few months or so.

If we can't get a million on average by the time the Enies Lobby arc begins, then the whole thing's a bust and One Piece was just never meant to be popular here in the states. But for right now, One Piece seems to be doing all right, it's not struggling to maintain it's audience and if things go how most of us expect it to, the audience for OP will be steadily increasing sometime in the near future.

So relax man, let those other guys stay ignorant. They're opinion of One Piece will probably stay the same even if it starts surpassing every other show in the Toonami line-up.

PUT levels fall off dramatically from 12:00 am to 1:00 am, according to my source. Not to mention, the decrease in ratings on Toonami at 1 am has always been fairly dramatic on most nights. Can we please put this bullshit retentionist talk to rest once and for all?

At this point, the series is just gonna keep getting better. Yeah, I can sorta see why some people would just be a little disinterested in the early Water 7 episodes as it's pretty much dedicated to building up the city to the audience and introducing the slew of new characters. Sadly, some people are just dumb and want to see action, action, action. Hell, Bleach is on a filler (w/ fighting), and Naruto is in the middle of the Chunin Exams (a fan favorite and the point some people say was the apex of the first series), then we have OP w/ exploring the city of W7 w/ some glimpses of foreshadowing that people (who aren't showing interest in the world building) will not bother to stay long enough to get invested in. It's a dumb theory I know, but maybe it holds a little water. Also, is it just me, or are some of the bumpers that are used when being introduced, going to commercials, and coming from commercials…the footage they use can be a tad underwhelming or off-putting? I mean, yeah, we do have that "coming from commercial" clip of Zoro slashing. But when OP is being introduced, they use the clip of Usopp racing Chikicheetah, and when it's going to commercial, they use the clip of Chopper's daydream of him sliding down the "water slides" of W7 (w/ him screaming loud). Now, Chopper's voice doesn't annoy me, but would casual viewers not find that "daydream" clip off-putting and overly childish? It may be a small and probably inconsequential idea, but wouldn't putting some more badass clips do the show a favor? We're getting into the meat of W7, then it's just gonna be uphill in terms of the "action, action, action" that the masses seem to have a huge hard-on for. Well...that's my 2 cents.

There's been proof that on it's final days at 1am, Soul Eater was actually starting to retain Naruto alot better than OP has ever done. 1am has never been the drop out point… until now. I've neever seen a show on this slot that loses 200k-300k on the regular. It's not bullshit. You can't just ignore this. We're talking about it's tv performance, we can't just talk about the good times - this is something that should be talked about.

Tell me. Seriously. Why do you think, in your opinion, that One Piece ALWAYS has the biggest drop on the night? This wasn't so when Soul Eater was there, so you can't blame the slot. At least entirely. So tell me.

It would appear that the curse of toei animations pacing issues strike again! Hopefully it won't be the anime's undoing here as it gets really good from here on out.

We're on a month break, with this week being the last week it won't be on the air. Toonami/Adult Swim decided to have a month of movies, so we didn't have any episodes for One Piece (or for that matter, Bleach. Naruto, Soul Eater, and Sword Art Online).
