Has anyone noticed Naruto is far more interesting when the series isn't focusing on the titular character???
I was thinking about that this week. Everyone seems to wait for the Shikamaru/Hidan battle.
Naruto was and still is my fav charcter, but i'm not really excited about his wasting chapters training, though it's good to see yamato's jutsu working. I think that huy is the best character in part II.
On this chapter, it's the most brutal in graphics, since haku's death (stabbed in the heart by kakashi).

Well, there was some complaints about the way Oda made Usopp evolve lately, but it's still utter brillance compared to how Kishi dealt with Naruto.
Naruto went from likeable loser and hyperactive moron with a hunger for recognition to some insipid, whining softy longing for his lost gay lover. Not to mention he has 2 offensive moves (two), which for a main shonen character is absolutely pathetic.
Actually Naruto the character perfectly embodies Naruto the series; lots of potential, but fails to deliver.

If it's a villain or an anti-heroic character doing the head cutting (Hiei, Kurei for example), then this is not often true.

Kurama isn't really an antihero. Neither is Asuma.
…I never said Asuma was. Read my previous post. "If someone's head is shown being cut off on screen, then odds are they're not dead."
I don't remember Kurama ever cutting someone's head off, but I would consider him to be a pseudo-antihero.

I thought he just hooked his ass up to that Nightmare tree? I dunno, Sensui was when my humor in the series really waned so I don't remember that much.
And I would definitely consider Yoko Kurama to be anti-heroic, personally.

Man this chapter was awesome until hidan started talking with his head off. Damn he needs to die. Sweet chapter for the first 13 pages.

Really? I thought it was the best when his head starting talking. Freakin hilarious if you ask me. Maybe they'll steal his head and use it to get information about the Akatsuki, or something like that. Just a thought.
Now Kakuzu should get some action…yeah!
And yes, Naruto is best when it's not about Naruto. Irony is a cruel mistress. Maybe Kishi should just up and rename the series Akatsuki.

Well, Shikamaru is a genius, but we all know that.
However I still don't quite get how Hidan's curse works. Shikamaru figured out that the circle and the blood were essential to it, but I still don't see how all his wounds are reflected in his victims. scratches head
And yeah, I thought it pretty funny when the head started talking. It's like Kakuzu said, the guy just doesn't die. So at least we are of knowledge that near-immortality is one of Hidan's powers rather than just left wondering why the hell he doesn't die.

I'm watching a Naruto dubbed episode right now in TV (6:00 here, OP dub is right after), and for the opening, Haruka Kanata set to different clips were used… Am I going senile?

Well, here's one less thing for Narutards to whine about. I was so surprised to hear Haruka Kanata! To top it off, Jiraiya has one of the best dub voices! I like how he can go from crazed pervert to serious teacher.

Awesome epi, they had original music and a decent voice for my favoirite pervert-hermit. Rewatching the old episodes has made me love the series all over again, maybe I should do the same for One Piece. I also caught the subliminal jab CN threw at Jake Long (who supposed to rival Juniper Lee).

Now that I think about, it shouldn't have taken Shikamaru that long to figure it out.
If the average manga reader figured out that it happened because he was over a seal and because he licked blood, I don't see why a natural genius like him couldn't do so.

Well in the manga isn't this fight only like 5 mins or something. In naruto time I am guessing shikamaru figured it out pretty fast.
Also his ability was only revealed 2 chapters ago so that is pretty fast for kishimoto I guess.

For some unknown reason, Viz decided to put Haruka Kanata as the intro starting with this episode. It was the one when Naruto keeps following Jiraiya around, begging him to train him.

I am not really sure, but battle franky(touch) posted 2 pics up from the chapter on narutofan.
One pic shows Kazuku putting Hidans head on with some medical jutsu.
And the second pic which is the end of the chapter pic shows Hidan back in the circle and stabbing himself in the heart.
I am not sure if the curse is still active with him and Asuma, but I am guessing he at least think so or he licked somebody elses blood.

I thought the club trick was kind of cool, because… damn, I wasn't expecting either of them to materialize a giant fucking CLUB out of thin air.
But Kakuzu's abilities look awesome. I guess he's a master of sitches. I can't wait to see him fight.
